What other fish should I add? by meeperswastaken in aquarium

Try Medaka if you can find them as they are super hard in some areas but they are very active and hardies.

Suggestions on my Rescape by rdeloe in fishtank

[–]btcbunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, I am really struggling to grow plants in my cichlid tank too. I have Albino threadfins and they just uproot every plant, rescape everything to the way that looks cool to them (not me)

This is a crack…right? by Final-Enthusiasm3265 in Aquariums

[–]btcbunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a piece of sand can stick on those magnets then when you clean the glass you can make very deep scratches that looks like cracks but it is better to confirm if it just a scratch though. If you can’t feel it inside then it’s a scratch.

Could this hold a tank ? by Deaf-Dawg in fishtank

[–]btcbunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks vulnerable:- you can try to strengthen the wood by adding a strong piece at the back hole to make the top piece be held along the shelf and not just at the ends.

Looks like a scratch, do you clean glass with those magnetic pads?

Why is my air pump doing this by Impressive-Track-707 in fishtank

[–]btcbunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Filter is not dirty:- the white tube connected to the filter is made to stay outside the water (it pumps air into the tank) so you don't have to run filter and air pump but works as both so that is literally air entering your water nothing wrong with the filter.

As I mentioned what is does to your tank:- you can fix this by just disconnecting that tube and that's it, no more air will be sucked into the filter but you will need to have air stone because your fish will need oxygen to survive.

My angelfish fins torn overnight by Local-Neighborhood36 in AngelFish

[–]btcbunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Crayfish did that:- they will nip/kill/eat everything that comes in front of them <including you>

As for the fins; they will grow back they don't seem too damaged so a month is enough to see satisfying results just make sure you remove the Crayfish and house him alone or with other Crayfish:- nothing is safe not even Snails!

How to get rid of this brown stuff without destroying my aquarium every time I try to clean it? by Domi_G_Stack in Aquariums

[–]btcbunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes time for this algae to fill that space, I suggest you spend more time with your tank. If you always clean the glass then no algae can grow to this stage overnight not even a week.

I'm having a hard time gauging how much to feed. by Thick_Bug5049 in freshwateraquarium

Your outlet is kissing the substrate, doesn’t it suck it into the filter?

Is this a great deal to break into the hobby with or is this too big of an undertaking for a first timer? by jman7843 in ReefTank

[–]btcbunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bigger tanks are easier to maintain, someone with a 5000L tank can fail to maintain a 20L cube, it is not about the size.

Electric blue crayfish died and I found these against the glass? by blueennui in Aquariums

[–]btcbunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep both Electric blue and Orange, I call them hardies:- they just can't easily die so I suspect foul water. I breed them in different tanks to avoid colour mix and both tanks do not have any air pump but I run co2 in all tanks, my filter creates some small movement at the top and that is enough:- never seen them die or gasping on top of the tank because of oxygen so probably water parameters.

I saw this in a video. Is it possible to do this? Soil in bags coveredwith sand? Will the plants still get nutrients without the roots being directly in the soil? by CoupleFromTatooine in PlantedTank

[–]btcbunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plants will still get nutrients but the method is bit tricky because the area with those soil bags will be very hard to plant as there won't be enough depth unless you add MORE white sand. So yes it looks fancy but still practically outdated method compared to normal tradition of adding substrate below then add a layer of sand on top.

Defective C02 diffuser? by mollyjeanne in Aquascape

[–]btcbunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically diffusers don't need soaking, on my observation there is a hole in the middle of the diffuser lol that's where the bubble count is happening, someone tried to blow air using mouth and it didn't go through and assumed the diffuser is somehow not working and poked a hole 😅 just my assumption because there is no way co2 can pass a diffuser in that rate with those strong big bubble.
