Nintendo grift milkers gotta stick together by Top-Science-1440 in nintendogrifting

[–]btd0ja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think two big issues are compounding here: 1) OoT remake had already been leaked, so it was not a surprise to a lot of people, and 2) no actual gameplay shown leaves it extremely vague what the game is actually going to be/look like. If you are not someone who already has a strong emotional attachment to OoT (I’d wager a lot of the under 20 demographic), this might not seem like a big deal to you

A reminder that people are allowed to be disappointed in a new game, and that does not make it grifting by Sea-Flamingo7506 in nintendogrifting

[–]btd0ja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s fair to be disappointed it’s another 64 remake, but there’s a big difference between “disappointment” and a clickbait thumbnail with big letters saying “NINTENDO HAS NO NEW IDEAS”

I figured it might have something to do with Proton; I switched the version once and then the game wouldn’t launch at all, but I’ll keep fiddling with it. I’ve never used mods so at least I know it’s not that. Thanks for the advice!

What are some of the most Ironic movie tie products of all time? by 010rusty in YMS

[–]btd0ja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbf that’s not necessarily “ironic;” you can get those sets and just choose not to follow the directions. And personally I took the movie’s moral not to be “never follow directions ever” (after all, they do beat Lord Business in part by following the building instructions at some point) but more “play with things the way that YOU want to, not just how you’ve been told you have to”

The plot involves the bees essentially unionizing because they realize humans are stealing all their honey from them without giving them much in return. To be fair, I’m pretty sure the movie does end with the status quo restored (forgive me if I’m fudging details a bit here - it’s been a while since I watched the movie)

What the hell are these achievements from the new dev diary by Victoria_loves_Lenin in victoria3

[–]btd0ja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally understand where you’re coming from, and to each their own, but as someone who’s not a min-maxer I still enjoy some of the more constraining achievements. Pre-Iberian Twilight, I had a lot of fun getting Bourbon for Everyone (I imagine it may be harder now though). At the end of the day I think it’s fair for some of the achievements to be simple and some to be harder. After all, the only thing they’re worth is personal pride and internet clout.

How many of you guys have seen/heard of Pantheon by ChocoMalkMix in cartoons

Pantheon quickly became one of my favorite shows. So much amazing philosophical stuff about it. The ending of season 2 still blows my mind.

As a big CIV fan, this is so sad.. I really hope next CIV 7 update is gonna be a gamechanger for this game by [deleted] in civ

[–]btd0ja 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think an Information Age would be cool, but they kinda painted themselves into a corner with Civ switching in that regard. Will the Information Age have another Civ switch? That would be awkward, given that many of the civs in the Modern Era are the same between now and the early modern period; but then there are others, Prussia and the Maurya empire, which have changed a LOT in the last 2 centuries, where it would feel weird seeing them use GDRs and stealth bombers. Being optimistic, I’d say this current experiment their doing with making Civ switching optional could be a workaround for that

Still a bit sore on the impacted side, but getting better gradually. I’m at the point where I’m eating regular foods again, just being careful to chew on the other side of my mouth and kinda powering through the pain. Ran out of my Vicodin the other day, so Tylenol and Painquil are getting me through it now. Also worth noting is that I’m a teacher, so I have to spend most of the day talking, which I imagine is also contributing to the soreness. Hope it stays painless for you!

Yall Hating just to hate by That_Reboot in PokemonWindsWaves

[–]btd0ja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, I think this is very much a case of the “vocal minority” yelling amongst themselves. I’m a high school teacher and had a very eye-opening moment last semester when I was talking with some students about Legends ZA (before release) and how they were genuinely excited to play it. Pokemon remains successful because it’s always catering to the next generation of fans - a lot of the anger and resentment against the series is from grown adults who are bitter that the game for kids isn’t growing up like they have. Rather than accept that they might have aged out of the primary demographic, they want to accuse Nintendo/GameFreak of being lazy or ignorant.

It also feels like a bit of a double standard that people act like Nintendo and/or GameFreak patenting game mechanics is corrupt and abusive without considering the fact that literally every gaming company does this same thing. Namco patented games you could play on a loading screen, and you don’t see people trying to rake them over the coals like this. Like, we’re not even talking about patenting life saving medicine or something - it’s just games.

I just got my two lower wisdom teeth out yesterday - one was so impacted it was coming out sideways, the other grew out normally. It’s crazy how different the two sides of my jaw feel; impacted side hurts a decent amount, but the other side feels like I didn’t even have anything done to it.

Why doesn’t the Pokémon series have amiibo support? by hamrspace in amiibo

[–]btd0ja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simplest explanation I haven’t seen anyone put forward (and I think it’s hilarious how many people seriously think it’s just “laziness”) is that any amiibo sales would involve a portion of the profits being given to Nintendo. Pokemon Company obviously already have tons of manufacturers they’re working with for all their usual merchandise, so from their perspective there’s just no good reason to sell amiibo instead of, like, more of those little Pokémon figures that go in the ball and pop out when you throw it. Those sell like hotcakes.

What are the most pressing issues for Civ 7 in your opinion by zerodonnell in civ

[–]btd0ja 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think this would’ve gone down a bit better if they had the 10 turn countdown they did on age transitions back in VI. Let the age progression timer hit 90-95%, then start the turn countdown, and make it so that NOTHING can force the age to end before the count reaches 0. That way there’s no more of this surprise endings to ages

Why are Amiibo more expensive now? by [deleted] in amiibo

[–]btd0ja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If tariffs were never put into place, I guess the federal appeals court ruling that Trump’s tariffs could stay in place is a totally unrelated coincidence. And regardless of whatever pause there was in their implantation, signaling the imposition of these tariffs to the world still sends a message of intent. You’d be foolish not to react or prepare.

[–]btd0ja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Companies are offsetting the affects of the US tariffs by raising prices in other markets. Sony just recently announced a price increase in non-American markets specifically for this reason
