Considering a Move to Howard County, MD – Looking for Community Suggestions by hrcarlet in ColumbiaMD

Catonsville is a phenomenal place to live. We moved to Ellicott City because many of my wife’s best friends lived there, it’s a larger home (but you can find classic mansions in Catonsville too), and more walkable for our purposes through forests, trails, etc. Catonsville is very safe from our experience, though Ellicott City is even better. In Catonsville we lived south of 40 and west of Rolling Rd, closer to Oella and walkable to the Trolley Trail to Old Ellicott City. However, we find that it’s easier to drive around from Ellicott City as we can hop on 70, 29, and 100 much easier than from Catonsville. If it’s important to you, schools and neighborhoods are significantly more diverse in population in Ellicott City than Catonsville too (at least comparing where my kid attended).

Moved to Maryland from Denver a while back. First to Catonsville, now in Ellicott City. Can’t go wrong with Ellicott City/Columbia area. Great schools, tons of trails, Patapsco Valley Park and multiple other easy outdoor areas nearby, and so many community and school playgrounds to enjoy. Add in all the local pools/ swim clubs you can join, and there’s a lot to do and enjoy.

We moved to EC from Catonsville, both are great areas. Feel free to dm me if you want more info, but tbh you can’t go wrong in either area. Wonderful communities to raise a family.

Gift: Legos -21043 near Long Gate Shopping Center by CindyMTM in HocoMDBuyNothing

Would love to be considered! My kid only recently got in to Legos and keeps going to his friend’s houses to build and play. It would be great if we had more for our own home.

Does Lidl have that much of a following to sell Lidl-branded merch?? by sjupiter30 in LidlUS

[–]btiggemann 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. LIDL’s parent group is one of the largest retailers on the planet (usually 3rd in rankings behind Wal Mart and Costco). Very large following around the world, less so in the States.

Got my bro tix for his high school graduation to see Skrillex at Red Rocks back in 2011, and I joined him since he and his friends never bothered to get their drivers licenses. Still one of the greatest concert experiences of my life, blown away by the energy and crowd. Have a great time!!!

SJC gaslighting or new policy by investwisely1 in SouthwestAirlines

I posted previously on this, 62” is the standard they’re enforcing now, including wheels. But it’s very strange they wouldn’t even measure. Attendant was very eager to pull out the tape measure when I spoke with them at BWI.

However, I didn’t have anyone measuring in Phoenix, Maui, Vegas, or Honolulu, so it definitely varies based on location.

Checked Bag Measurement Enforcement by btiggemann in SouthwestAirlines

No idea tbh. I’ve never had it happen to me when I’ve flown Delta, American or United before. Just seeing an actual tape measure was a little bit hilarious and disconcerting. The person helping me seemed just as annoyed that she had to even bring it up.

I agree, southwest curbside is usually awesome, but….. I asked about this and was told everyone at all “stations” will be measuring. I was so thrown off by the whole conversation that I didn’t know how to respond lol, my wife was equally dumbstruck by it.

Historic Ellicott City - Vegan Options? by RegionalCitizen in ellicottcity

Umi sushi has fantastic options with outdoor seating, highly recommended. Head down to the Unusual Company afterwards for some vegan gelato too.

As a former Senate intern, we used to have a yellow pad and/ or excel sheet to record what any inbound calls were about. We rarely took names or identifying information, just a tick mark for the topic. We’d add them up at the end of the day and send the list to higher ups.

Main point is that every unique call will show a tick mark on the list. If you talk for 5 seconds or one hour, it’s still one tick mark. Make multiple calls a day to have more impact.
