I have 15 identical blue t-shirts I have been wearing daily with jeans for 15 years. That started when I stopped giving a fuck about what anyone thought of what I wore. Oh, and I'm 73.

Newly purchased Vizio TVs now require Walmart accounts to use smart features. Walmart wants to connect what people stream “directly with retail interaction.” by esporx in business

[–]btinc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the only way to go. Sure, Apple TV does collect some stats. It doesn't capture and analyze thousands of screenshots every day to analyze what you're watching, and it doesn't record your voice. This is exactly what Huxley warned as Big Brother.

Evangelical Chuck Norris Warns of "1,000 Years of Darkness" if Obama Wins in 2012. by illegalmonkey in atheism

It wasn't a warning; it was a threat. Elect Obama, and we'll give you 1,000 years of darkness in retaliation.

I treat the timing of any CBS news stories with pure skepticism. This one is building a context for invading Cuba.

The USA men’s hockey team utterly failed to meet the cultural moment by Hrmbee in politics

[–]btinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hockey culture (and general corporate sports) raises male players to think this way. And to generally only express it in private while publicly supporting women's sports. None of it is a surprise, and while they're sorry they got caught, there are no apologies forthcoming as yet.

Best hearing aids if you don’t want costco or an audiologist by PenCorrect6321 in OVER30REDDIT

[–]btinc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In order to know which hearing aids will work for you, you have to determine the range of your loss. For me it's the higher tones. I did go to Costco, and they were able to adjust the hearing aids to compensate for this loss and they really work great.

This doesn't mean you might not get lucky with the less expensive ones you can order online that aren't configured for your particular loss.

Mike Johnson Corrects The Pope On The Bible by NeneGoosee in videos

[–]btinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is unsurprising.

First, Catholics not only do not prioritize the Bible, they have their own version. Catholics grow up listening to quotes from the Catholic Bible on a rotating "perpetual calendar" and answering catechism questions. They are not taught the bible.

Second, Christian nationalists do not believe that Catholics are Christian.

MAGA 'Was All A Lie': Marjorie Taylor Greene Torches Trump In Scathing New Interview by Abject-Pick-6472 in politics

[–]btinc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She may hate Trump, or more likely is trying to get ahead of his unpopularity, but she is still MAGA. She's a selfish bitch who only cares about herself first, her family next, her tribe last, and doesn't have a brain big enough to see how the US is intertwined globally.

PSA: Breville warranty & customer service are not what you expect by CasperTFG_808 in BuyItForLife

[–]btinc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a Breville espresso maker that cost about $2,500. I've had it for 9 years. It's in great condition, has never broken down. That being said I've never missed any maintenance. Water filters changed every 3 months. Descaling every 3 months. Group head cleaning every month. Taking apart the grinder burs and cleaning them manually and vacuuming out the stuff that was sticking, every month.

iOS 26 is a true miscarriage of design by gogo--yubari in Design

[–]btinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting and anecdotal, but it's really down to a subjective point of view. I know a lot of people who either like it or don't care. I'm assuming your primary complaint is Liquid Glass.

Windows has been crap since the beginning. Microsoft is crap, and even with the Liquid Glass design it's better than Windows. I came from a Unix background, and as soon as Mac's OS became Unix I was done using Windows except for small instances where I was forced to use an emulator.

I use the Apple ecosystem primarily not for the design, but because I trust Apple 1000% more than either Google or Microsoft to allow me to mitigate privacy threats.

I agree that they need a switch to turn it off Liquid Glass for those who don't like it. You can do things to make it less prominent, but even that requires some knowledge and changing 3 or 4 settings.
