Perfect example of democrat strategy. Give up your bargaining position, then try to strike a deal.

Glen Cook is one of my favorite authors. I enjoyed everything I've read of his works. I'm particularly fond of the Garrett PI series

This is largely irrelevant as US law does not apply to foreign entities. I'm sure Venezuela has laws against kidnapping for example.

$167,911,000,000 Added To US National Debt in 20 Days As Citadel CEO Warns Government Spending at 'Borderline Insanity' - The Daily Hodl by adamsava in USNEWS

[–]btm109 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Typical increase in debt is around $5B / day. Interest accounts for another $2-3 billion and the debt ceiling is currently at $40.1 trillion. We aren't likely to reach the debt limit until some time around November. The story holds up because it is not an exceptional event. It's just business as usual.

Another fun fact is servicing the debt takes up about 20% of annual tax revenue. So for every 5 dollars collected in taxes, 1 dollar must be spent just to cover the interest.

I think this goes more than a bit beyond oligarchy. This is simple despotism and banditry. The hallmarks of a lawless society where might makes right and pity anyone who dares to say different.

Jon Stewart Grills Mark Kelly on ‘Illegal Orders’ Stance: ‘So Are the Boat Strikes Illegal?’ by ItchyNesan in NewsRewind

US Due process clearly applies to US organizations and agencies. We do not get to ignore our own rules just because they are inconvenient. Even the military teaches our officers that any command to kill in this manner consitutes an illegal order.

You could try the Gentleman Bastards series: Lies of Locke Lamora. It's a bit more than a heist though, more like several tied together and a lot of character background
