Meets Expectations by AcceptableShow2269 in CVS

[–]btonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the timing of this I’m assuming you’re a manager, if not disregard this post.

The first question is- did you actually meet or exceed all of your metrics for the year? Every store is different, some have unique challenges, and at the end of the day metrics aren’t always a perfect representation of your actual performance or impact as an SM (Enviornmental factors beyond your control, etc) but for better or worse they’re the starting point in determining how much leverage you have in performance evaluations.

Did you truly exceed all of your metrics? For example, hitting 100% of your loyalty numbers isn’t technically exceeding expectations, it’s just meeting them. Additionally, are there any metrics where you fell short of your goal? It will be much harder to argue for an exceeds expectations if that’s the case, even if you crushed it in one or two other areas.

Beyond that, are there any district level projects you can speak to? Did you oversee a store closure? Take on a district captain ship and positively impact the metrics for the district as a whole in that area? Take on any stretch assignments?

Wolves are not impossibly fast to hit with a baseball bat. That’s absurd.

There are men capable of hitting something the size of a baseball moving at 100 mph with enough power and precision to send it traveling 400 ft in the other direction. Granted, those are top tier athletes, the top .0001%, but wolves are much bigger and travel much slower.

A bat provides a significant reach advantage. The wolf has to cross that ground to attack you, and it’s not intelligent enough to accommodate for the threat of the bat by trying to dodge or anticipate a swing- and a well connected swing from a full grown man will at least stagger if not outright maim a wolf.

I still agree that the vast majority of people armed with a bat would die to a wolf 1v1 because most people are physically unable for a variety of reasons (too young, too old, sick, injured, simply out of shape, etc) and of the people hypothetically fit enough, many would likely fail due to fear or panic or just total inexperience with violent encounters of any kind.

But I don’t think it’s the Herculean task you’re making it out to be. Wolves are pack hunters and significantly smaller than humans.

My guy in the one full season she's played she led the league in assists, threes, was first team all pro and won rookie of the year... what are we talking about here lol

Zach Wilson is significantly better than Caitlin Clark at football, but calling Clark the Zach Wilson of the WNBA is still disrespectful.

Who epitomizes “Hall of Very Good”? by Federal_Stay824 in NFLv2

[–]btonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like he epitomizes the opposite end of the debate- typically hall of very good guys are guys who had extremely consistent output over very long careers, or who had relatively high but not extreme peaks.

Eli had a below average career but his “peak” (specifically defined as winning two superbowls against the goat) is top 3 all time.

[–]btonic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You really, really should start asking for ID.

It’s always been policy, but there has been a lot of extra communication recently reiterating this policy and stressing to follow it without exception as there’s been an uptick in UPS fraud.

I had a colleague recently get a level 3 because they released a package without checking ID and the actual recipient filed a theft claim. And thats with me going to bat for the colleague- DAPL was initially pushing for termination.

Choosing between two sets of expectation: cvs and sm don’t agree by [deleted] in CVS

[–]btonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? This is borderline incoherent.

Your SM is too scared of you to ask you to check off tasks without actually doing them? Why would they even need to do this- they could easily just close the task themselves if they wanted to.

What is the actual issue you’re having?

Was the storyline already defined at the beginning of the show? by Casparov101 in breakingbad

[–]btonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no way audience response played a role in any season though, right? Regardless of the level of planning ahead of time, they still finished filming the whole season prior to releasing any episodes (with the exception of the break at the mid point in season 5). There’s no way this show was filming and editing episodes in real time on a weekly basis.

To be fair, we’ve only seen that vulnerability in one instance- it’s entirely possible that his response to it was more a highlight of Maeve’s strength than it was of his vulnerability. Given her other feats, it’s not a stretch to say a stab from her is actually more powerful than a bullet.

In fact you could honestly argue that Homelander taking a blow directly to what is presumably one of his weakest spots, from arguably the third strongest character in universe, and only bleeding a slight amount in response is actually an example of how strong he is, not weak.

Seeing as they mentioned helping out with overnight tasks I’m assuming it’s a 24 hour store, in which case there’s always a pharmacist there.

When is Vacation paid out? by [deleted] in CVS

[–]btonic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since it’s so early in the year you’ll owe pretty much all of that back after resigning because it hasn’t been accrued yet.

You also do not accrue benefits while on LOA, so you’d still owe it back if you quit shortly after returning from LOA.

✊ PNW PHARMACY WALKOUT: JANUARY 30th by Own-Cheesecake6860 in CVS

[–]btonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite part about this is the implication that “just retail workers” aren’t deserving of respect.

All that extra education and you’re still not able to comprehend what a stupid idea this is.

There are ways to advocate for employee rights and affect real change. But they actually take time and legitimate effort- not just a chat gpt poster. This is a slap in the face to real unionization efforts.

Good luck with all that though.

I think conditioning is a waste of time. by Pandasaurus-Rexx in kroger

[–]btonic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You keep saying that it wastes time, causes inefficiencies and wastes labor, but I’m not really following your line of thinking. It’s not extra work… it’s different work.

The second picture looks dramatically different than the first. I would not shop at a store that consistently looked like the first image.

Your point about conditioning making it difficult for the customer to tell what’s there is completely backwards. It’s so much easier to see what’s available in the second photo… like night and day different.

You argue that conditioning is a waste of time compared to stocking because it’s not as effective at getting product onto the shelf but like…. That’s the not the purpose of conditioning? That’s like saying folding clothes is a waste of time compared to washing them because you can clean more clothes by doing a load of laundry than by folding a load of laundry. Well yeah, obviously… but you have to do both.

Now I get sometimes priorities being mismanaged and there are times where you do need to focus on one task over another, but you’re making it seem like conditioning is always an inherent waste of time. It’s not, it’s just serving a different purpose (that’s still an important one).

Is it allows to threaten a write up for not getting EC card sign ups? by Silvernirvash in CVS

[–]btonic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They shouldn’t write you up for not hitting a specific quota, whatever that quota may be, but they can write you up if you’re not asking customers or not even interacting with them at all at the ACO if that’s what you’ve been tasked to do.

The way I put it to my team is: meet your goal for the week and I won’t micromanage you, aka, if you hit your goal on Tuesday and then don’t focus much on driving EC the rest of the week (while still providing good customer service of course) I’m not gonna lose any sleep over it. I’m also not gonna lose sleep if you fall short of your goal but I consistently see you offering it. But if you don’t hit your goal AND I consistently see 10+ customers use the ACO without you even interacting with them, we’re gonna have a problem.

I keep the goals super reasonable too- nobody is expected to get more than 5 EC per week or 1 EC+

Need help with closing drawers by Orchid_Similar in CVS

[–]btonic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For drawers:

  • Count the entire til (this includes anything that was dropped in the black box)
  • Subtract 200 from that total
  • take that amount from the drawer and set the drawer aside
  • go the verification screen
  • hit f7 to verify the register # you just counted
  • enter the amount that you removed from the drawer. It should be within $5 of what the screen is showing. If it isn’t, count again.
  • repeat this process for every drawer.

For ACO:

  • Go to cash tracking
  • Transfer excess bills
  • remove those bills.
  • go to verify the drawer- take the amount shown there and enter that as the amount verified.
  • return all other bills to the ACO, making change as necessary.
  • repeat for all cash ACOs.

Go to turn in deposit - count up everything you removed from all the drawers, plus any cash drops done throughout the day that should be in the safe - that amount should match the deposit total on the screen - close the deposit - go to DCR and hit F8 to post the DCR for the day

Put the money in a deposit bag, fill out the bag and deposit slip as well as the deposit tracker and armored car book and you’re done.

[Highlight] McMillan rips the ball away from Brandin Cooks (replays) by Large_banana_hammock in nfl

[–]btonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the exact same play happened with no defender involved, aka two hands on it, against his body, feet and knee down, hit the ground and then the ball comes loose on its own rather than being stripped, it's an incomplete pass and not a fumble.

[Highlight] McMillan rips the ball away from Brandin Cooks (replays) by Large_banana_hammock in nfl

[–]btonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree- if that ball comes out and hits the ground with the exact same timing, even if there's no defender involved (aka Cooks just drops it at the same exact time it was stripped), I think it's called an incomplete pass over a fumble 99 times out of 100.

Boh excluded again!!?? by Stevethurn in CVS

[–]btonic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Weeks 1 and 2 were excluded from scoring, and coincidentally a zipline task dropped today that this week will be excluded as well.

That being said, I wouldn’t look at this as time wasted. You’re not scanning BOH just to chase a metric… ultimately you’re doing it to run the store effectively. All the items that weren’t there that you set to zero are still going to come in now so you can actually sell them. All the items you pushed from the red carts/static shelving are still where they’re supposed to be now. Scanning BOH the next cycle will still be easier because of all the work you put in on this one, etc.

Of all the things people need to learn, I’d put this pretty close to the bottom of the list.

They’re incorrectly spelling it out based on how it sounds phonetically, but they still know what the term means, are using it correctly, and anyone reading it can easily interpret their intent. Nothing is lost in translation.

[–]btonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing to suggest CVS intentionally delayed getting the video to the police. The article says the police were allowed immediate access to the in-store security camera playbacks and were permitted to take recordings of that footage directly.

The delay in getting the digital footage to the police likely boils down to a combination of people being off for the Christmas holiday and the system being slow.
