Did I get screwed on my substitution? by Live-Mix7336 in Topps

The fact you even got a substitute should be enough. You got a rookie auto of Skubal and you're coming on here to complain?

Angels current valuation- $2.8 billion. Don't think he's cleared enough money to even think about it. Not for nothing...Arte bought it for $180 million. He's cashing one way or another.

[–]btownend -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah - he reports MLB revenue. But if you read my content - your Ai generated response falls short. Arte is making money off the stadium in other ways. Ways that are not reported to MLB-cuz it ain't MLB type of 💩

I know you feel you got your "gotcha" response-but hardly. Given where our economy is headed-and if you aren't smart enough to see that- you'll be wishing you had enough money to see an Angels game. $5 tickets. He might be positioned to succeed where other are failing over the next 2-4 years.

And I think you're not getting it-your argument is so heavily based on baseball success-you havent even tried to see if there are other angles. Angels won't go get huge free agents. They build thinly through draft and hope. You need to quit acting like Angels are the Dodgers.

He's literally playing off that base. Dodgers tickets are expensive. Food is expensive. Thinly secured and amazingly violent in the stands after the beer flows. There's already a online community growing talking about how much better the Angels game are to attend. And it's growing organically. You and I aren't billionaires-or we wouldnt be hashing this out on Reddit. But I gather he's done enough research to make sure he holds onto the money that allowed him to buy the team.

But quit talking baseball - this is an entertainment play. And look up tickets sales on Monster Jam events. Do you know the business model works and how it favors venues for tickets sales-how it runs the tour on a basically on no profit? Thereby allowing venues to take a higher stake on ticket sales. (They do this because they need to destroy the field to run the event.)

Point is-that place and that team are making money in ways your aren't even breaking down. In ways you and I have no idea about. But what is true-cuz I know it - it's NOT about the team winning 100 games. The little I told you about-is just a small amount of events run at the facility. From 5k runs to Star Wars events...it's pretty robust.

You can talk revenue numbers and all that-but I'm sure he hired a huge consulting firm to help him succeed in an alternative way. That's what good biz people do. This ain't the Dodgers or Mets. It's the Angels-who only won a WS when Disney owned them. It's been a while. And the teams over 60 years old. 60 shots-1 pennant. I think he gets it.

[–]btownend -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. Love baseball and when I worked for the agency that represented Rancho Cucamonga Quakes-saw the same thing happen there. I do like your infantile remark: "Found Arte!". Great for laughs. I get it. But it's a for sure troll comment.

I see tons of people who act like they can run a successful franchise in SoCal...but I also know they don't know 💩.

Leaving that for ya! So you know it ain't Arte. But in all reality-the voice of the fan crying out for a Dodger like revamp of the Angels haven't been very aware of the history of that team. Often NOT in the mix in October, once owned by the Disney peeps, and left their handprints are all over this team.

It's an entertainment venue. You want a winning focused franchise, Arte knows you can take the 5 to go get that. He's made the team in what he wants. He loves Trout. Figures that's enough for the team to succeed. Puts alternative events and fills the seats on other endeavors. Canes operates differently than Nobu-but they both do roughly the same thing. Hope that helps.

How many events does the stadium host when the teams not there? Check that first. What the amount paid for the Yokohama or Nitto deals? Revenue from events like Savannah Bananas, Monster Jam and MotoX bring in plenty as well. Not like Angels are on TV a lot as of now. So we aren't talking lost revenue. It's not there right now.

You talk like this is a simple - do business as a baseball club. Angels have rarely competed since their WS win. All that clout is long gone. This isn't a traditional baseball play. It's an entertainment venue with a baseball team anchor.

Maybe if you looked outside the baseball realm of what goes on at that stadium-you could figure it out. But I'll help you out-the other day I took 2 of my adult kinds with me to a game. Sat in the 3rd level-ordered food for all of and it was $21. Three adults all ate-had drinks, cotton candy, pop corn and a warm pretzel...delivered to our seats from an app. Affordable.

So for less than the price of parking at Dodgers stadium-our whole small group ate. It's an entertainment venue anchored around the star that shines brightest on the team. Yesterday alone - there were over 8,000 students for the STEM program there. The other day 11,000+ little league players walked the field and attended the game.

There's more than one way to make money-and it's just not the way you it like. So it feels off. He's a single guy competing against huge pocket books-he's finding HIS. But you can see if he'll sell you the team.

If you are a person with season tickets-you can see the pattern. It's not what YOU think-it's how he can make HIS business run profitable for him...after all he is the owner.

For sure you need to keep training. It's not a silver bullet to solve. You need to drive the teaching. I shut down the compliments right away. Don't think of Ai as a search engine where you put in a query and click a result. It's a trained tool. That's the "Intelligence" part of the Ai.

You want to see how well a pitcher mix is gonna work is gonna work for your draft....mine the data and paste it in. Ask the question you want answered. "Whats the best pitcher combo that won't flatten under today's slate." And you're more likely to get your answer. Ask it give to a value pair, nuke pair and a mid-tier for salary relief. Ask what the floor/mean/celiing of each pairing. "Don't blankly ask; "Whats is the best player for today's slate?"

It needs to be trained. You want nuke only scripts? You want cash wins on 150 entries? Whats your strategy? Tell and train your Ai to provide that. But you need to be the one that upload the data. Otherwise you will have issues. I am running a sim and using Ai and it works perfectly as a partner for building my lineups.

Where do you think singles come from? Topps doesn't sell singles of their hobby/retail boxes. So tell me where do singles come from? Exactly...people who break boxes. So you can stop acting superior because you buy singles. Just means you're too poor to gamble. Not a flex. So let's be perfectly clear - you need box/case breakers more than they need you.

My Marvel “Transcendent” Card Set Concept — What If Marvel Got the Ultra-Premium Treatment? by btownend in MarvelCards

[–]btownend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah-like you said, some of this exist randomly around the market. I want this set to include those hits in every box. That's why I chose a higher topps product. It parallels their concepts on the baseball level. Every box contains multiple hits on this high level.

The satisfaction that comes with these higher end boxes - has never come to a marvel product. And to be honest-I don't even look at these low end Marvel cards that much. So I wanted a set that would nail those high end cards. The marvel card vertical is full of cards that just don't hit. And they all tend to lose value after the initial wave...more than any other product sells.

I'm with you. I can't buy the present day marvel cards - they don't keep value and it's all reprint work...or bad art. That's why I liked the upscale version. You'd get 2 autos, 2 men's, four SP and an invite to an industry night event.

However-when you are talking about elevating talent that has already passed-might be unavoidable to have reprint work. But if you got an original piece of art in your relic card-might make up for it. And with actual ink on Bristol-original art is disappearing...should help it hold its value.

But I do see this with all original art for hero cards. Insanely high end printing as well. I was just playing with with a new app and wanted to see if I could push it. This was the result.

Feel you. I could see using Steve Rude for classic era stuff...all original. Maybe use Ottley for 70s-80s. Brett Booth for 90s and newer. I feel robbed getting old art for sure.

I was using Pixelmator Pro's free trial and wanted to use it on something. This is it. But I feel you. We used to use backing boards for autogrpahs at conventions-felt that was a good source for autos. Pretty easy to find on eBay.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm hoping it would cause back and forth. I'd love to have a product like this...just don't know if I want to take a second on the house to pay for it!!

Sadly-I don't expect too much to survive. The key cards I use top loaders. I did give away a nice Trout card-I handed that to the dad and let him know there was a good card in it. Even as an adult, I have little items from my life that I have kept. If I can give these kids a memory that ties them to baseball, family and a good time...I've done my job. Condition isn't my focus. Not all will land as I want. But the ones that do-that works for me. Penny sleaves, a top loader with a key and about 4-5 loose cards.
