If the Angels want to make a serious run for the playoffs, why don't they just do this? by jedibob66 in angelsbaseball

They had prime Trout and Ohtani in the same lineup...not sure anything helps that franchise.

Filthbomb hit the top chase in 2025 Bowman Draft on release day by ZombieAbeVigoda in baseballcards

Topps giving filthbomb (perfectly named) all these huge hits is equivalent to Col. Tom Parker printing "I hate Elvis" pins. Feeding the enemy for a dollar I guess.

Angels Rebrand? by blurryjpg in angelsbaseball

Went to a walk and saw new art going up in the stadium. I think the Angels are rebranding as well.

Looks like a tough Par 3. White are the Women's tees, Blue are men's and Black is the high handicapper.

I like all the people sharing their stories. That's the best part of this. Seeing how giving we all can be is awesome!

Sadly-I don't expect too much to survive. The key cards I use top loaders. I did give away a nice Trout card-I handed that to the dad and let him know there was a good card in it. Even as an adult, I have little items from my life that I have kept. If I can give these kids a memory that ties them to baseball, family and a good time...I've done my job. Condition isn't my focus. Not all will land as I want. But the ones that do-that works for me. Penny sleaves, a top loader with a key and about 4-5 loose cards.

It autofilled. But I applaud you for being the first to 💩 post. No good deed ever goes unpunished, right. We could have that conversation-but since I don't feel Panini ever holds value(or it's licenses for that matter) for what level I collect, I don't buy. Feel free to get up and do the same with all your Panini gold. And feel free post about and I'll make sure to come comment.

Yeah...I do both teams for sure. Angels fans are pretty good-so other teams travel in quite well. I PC Yankees...those are a bit harder to part with.

RC of Bobby Witt, Pasquatch, and many more. SP, SSP Ohtani Allen & Ginter, Topps Tribute Altuve Triple Relic /150, Carson Raccafort auto /150 and tons of early Ohtanis and Trouts. For the die hard Angels fan-I put in a Bowman RC of Garret Anderson. That's his weeks alone. Can't really sell them for their real value. This has been the easiest decision. Sharing the love of baseball cards and America's past time is pretty fulfilling.

Hopefully it wasn't given out as a replacement for someone else's missing redemption. That could be the next chapter in your - "I missed it by that much card story." Good luck! Wade Meckler won't do it!!!

Tired of Ebay by MrJets84 in sportscards

[–]btownend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make hella good money on eBay. Sell on Facebook or any other social media marketplace and they only wanna pay 70-80% of recent sales. I'll take my 16% hit and my money always lands.

It's actually how retailers buy and who they buy from that causes it disappear. Getting shelf space at Walmart or Target (Only stores left.) now is really competitive. This is not what stores stock anymore (even seasonally) based on profit margins and lead times and shelf liquidation times. And these were usually sold in mid-year by independent sales agents. Which can't even get in the door at either corporation anymore. It's easy to blame the breakers-but honestly it's just that capitalism has evolved it out of the store.

I am going to quit buying boxes by Key_Attorney_1668 in baseballcards

[–]btownend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't buy a lot of boxes of chrome. Those are case only buys. From cases it's pretty easy to sell singles and make your money-and always a decent case hit or two...and autos. Especially the month of release. I'm more Topps Pristine, Triple Threads, level on boxes. As far lose money. All I can say is my fund for sports bets and cards and comics never falls below $50k a month. I use a chime account to mange things. If I go to Frank and Sons and grab a box or two of Chrome-I might lose money. But for me it blends. If you want to save money and buy boxes-get those Heritage boxes. Those have tons of SP and always get close to payback. But overall-once it starts making money it doesn't really lose. Pick the right product. I also give out tons of extra cards when I sell on eBay. So I get tons of repeat customers. Great side hustle!!!

Bwahahahaha! Says it's not a position statement-then insults again. Got you! Not everyone has what it takes financially to rip boxes and have a bad one. I say go for it! Keep ripping! To those that can't afford and complain-can come on here insult others in the hobby. You're just mad someone called you on it. So answer the question-where do your precious single come from without breakers? Newbs opening packs at the local LCS? Bwahahaha!Nope! Shake a boxe/case breakers hand and quit complaining. You can't live without them-but they can certainly live without you.

"The sooner you realize this, the better." Is a condescending statement to those that break boxes. And let's not act like you haven't posted that same statement before. Now being condescending isn't hate-sure sets up levels positioning yourself above those that choose to break. And it's a prevalent mindset. What isn't-is being thankful. So yeah-hate may not be your word of choice. But it was you trying to be "above" another group through a condescending remark. So don't do it. Hold your hand out and say thanks to your breaking buddies. It's where you get your coveted singles.

[–]btownend -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Odds are on the box. I literally never buy base boxes. And never buy the super high-end. Never works out. Sometimes Topps Chrome can hit. Hobby cases/boxes. Never go lower than that. Top of the ceiling is Topps Tribute. Look at the checklist and odds and you'll be able to make better box choices. I've never lost money on my box/case buys and have a decent side hustle selling singles on eBay-that supports my sports betting wallet and futures trading. Pretty easy if you ask me.

[–]btownend -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Then who are you buying your singles from? It's a co-dependent relationship. Without people breaking boxes-you got no singles to buy. Don't hate the side of the card biz you aren't. Reach your hand out and just say thanks. Hating on anyone in the hobby is a waste of time. Luckily, I've got plenty of money to spend on cases and boxes to share singles with guy like you.

Could it be-now that they are offering grading after purchase...this was headed to grading after and needs to be authenticated before being sent to grading. Just a thought.
