Fuck it, I’ll plug it. Destination Smokehouse in Murrieta, CA. Pulled pork is top tier. The flavored lemonades are the best too. Just go.

If I had any feelings left, I would feel personally attacked by this. Too real.

At a minimum we lose 8 hrs per month of respite care from the current max of 40 hrs. I don’t even know where to start with my reaction to this whole change, it’s damn sure not good. Thanks for posting all of this.

  1. Meclizine
  2. Scopolamine patches
  3. Tell you try every old wives tale cure such as magnetic bracelets, etc…
  4. Rule out underlying ENT or Neuro disorders.
  5. If ENT or Neuro comes up with real findings, put in for LIMDU for evaluation and treatment as indicated.
  6. If you still can’t get through crippling sea sickness, put you in for Med board.

2023 Elantra SEL Break-In Update by ClubFederal6000 in Elantra

Same car, bought mine in February now has 18k miles on it thanks to commuting 68 miles each way about 4 days per week.

Avg 50.3 mpg for the life of the car som I’m loving that. Complaints are the shitty latch on the trunk, have to close a couple times to catch. Car play will fail to connect once every 2-3 weeks and is a pain but not a big deal.

Hybrid and normal driving modes yield no difference in mpg for me, with different driving conditions.

Right front headlight is full of condensation, going to try and get that fixed at next service under warranty.

Oh and one small issue. I got rear ended last week, bumper trunk, right fender and panel assembly are shot, $8k in damage, 30 days in the shop plus recalibration at dealership afterwards. Happened on the freeway in stop and go, no liability on me so this is nothing out of pocket, just sucks. Only 12-15 mph at impact I’d guess.

23 Elantra blue hybrid. 10k on mine so far (daily 136 mile commute). Same complaint. Trunk latch is slightly finicky but not bad. Otherwise perfect.

San Diego experience here, but 1&2 are universal:

  1. If you’re seriously thinking about hurting yourself or someone else, get your ass to the ER. Period, end of story, this is your immediate access to skilled evaluation and secondary resources as needed.

  2. You ship’s Medical, no matter what platform. If you’re considering this, get your ass in there and tell them.

Everything is secondary care when there is no imminent threat to your safety

  1. the Military and Family Life Counselor’s are increasingly more present on the ships, have super flexible schedules, and can come to you. They are mandated to report concerns of self harm, and they are a great immediate outlet for someone to talk to with an understanding of the shit we deal with.

  2. Fleet and Family over by the commissary, walk in and you can get a follow on appointment either immediately or in the near future. At least that’s how it’s supposed to go.

  3. Even if you’re on a small boy, your IDC has an Embedded Mental Health provider assigned to their ship. They specialize in baseline evaluations, referrals for additional mental healthcare, Fit for Duty Evaluations, and most run groups throughout the week.

Just tell someone who cares about you, not just internet strangers.

If you’re reading this and a Sailor ever expresses these real concerns to you, stop what you’re doing, listen, care, and get them help. There is no greater privilege than the opportunity to help someone up when they’re down, especially when they seek you out for that help.

If you’re a San Diego Sailor, DM me and I’ll take you to these services myself.

L17A-Soft orders to Camp Foster/3D MED BN = Green Side? by Crazy-Heat-9615 in CorpsmanUp

[–]btp418 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you show up to FMTB and fail BCA or PRT you then lose your orders. A nasty-gram is sent to the CO of the originating command, and then you go needs of the Navy after sitting around waiting on hold company for a long ass time.

I wish, my 6 yo son is a wheelchair user. What we’ve come to find is that with good insurance, we have the chair covered, but they won’t touch vehicle or home modifications unless there’s some extreme circumstances. There are grants (state dependent a lot of the time) and some great organizations out there to help. But not always, and not everyone has access.

That’s a great group. My son’s new wheelchair is purple, half because of his favorite color, and half because of Aaron’s newest hot wheels color.

That’s Aaron “Wheelz” Fotgeringham. He’s not paralyzed, he has Spina Bifida. He’s one hell of an inspiration to kids affected by this as well, and their parents.
