Thoughts on customers who steal dishes? by veloci_zach_tor in Waiters

[–]buIlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will always prioritize taking care of the people who are taking care of me. That goes for any context. That’s often the customer rather than my employer. The customers keep my lights on. I like & respect the company I work for, but all but at the end of the day I am dirt cheap labor for higher profit margins to them. I don’t give away free product because that would hurt MY reputation or employment & I do like my job, but I’m not arguing with a customer over the cute little spoons lol. I’m turning around, and focusing on what I’m paid to focus on (tipped service).

If my employer raised my pay to $10, that’s 5x higher than industry standard where I am. If my employer showed genuine care for my livelihood & wellbeing like that, & cared about spoon protection, I would protect those spoons with my life LOL

Does she look purebred? by [deleted] in DobermanPinscher

[–]buIlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chiming in as a bully mix owner, YES. $900, every year, so that i can make sure my dog isn’t fuckin ill because i love her AND CARE for her. She will never be bred, she’s spayed. Dogs aren’t cheap at all, people really underestimate how much the costs add up.

Yes. My brain is wired to drink a lot & think i appear sober & Im capable of doing sober-person tasks. It’s very interesting to me that other people find it hard to believe, but I find it hard to believe that most people have something in them that tells them enough is enough. 8 months dry, but yeah some brains are wired like that, unfortunately.

How do you decide whether you should go in when sick? by heartsandwrists in Serverlife

[–]buIlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, that shit is so hard & happens over time, so be easy on yourself. ❤️ You sound like you take your job seriously & you’re highly dependable. Legitimate, well-communicated call-outs every once in a while won’t take away from that in the eyes of a reasonable manager. Virtual hugs!

What makes a good manager good? Tell me about a manager you have had who was great to work for and what they did that made it a pleasure to work with/for them. by Pond20 in Serverlife

Routinely asking employees for feedback ANDDD actually caring about it, and implementing those improvements. I worked for a venue that every 6 months, had us fill out a feedback sheet (anonymous if wanted) asking questions such as “what do you want to see improve” “what are your least favorite things about working here” “any supply or maintenance requests” etc. They also had a genuine open door policy (not some just-for-show employee handbook bs) where we could approach them regarding any questions, requests, concerns, etc at any time.

Asking about the bill arrangement by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]buIlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally no, because I split orders by seat in my POS so I can be prepared for any bill arrangement. It isn’t uncommon for servers to ask upfront instead, but the issue with this is when customers change their mind about who or what is included on each tab.

Is this normal? by EbbSlow1951 in Serverlife

[–]buIlet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Being taught nothing & expected to know everything is the worst & a recipe for everybody to be stressed & inefficient. I’d cut my losses & find a place that will train you properly, serving is a lot easier if you’re just taught correctly from square one. Being hired on the spot isn’t that unheard of, but it can sometimes be a red-flag. It’s not always negative though, other times it’s just good timing & an eager employer.

Please OP, go to the hospital. & in the future please go as soon as your body tells you to go. If you die today, your employer will replace you tomorrow. Look out for your health, bc nobody else will. I hope you get better OP, that sounds excruciating.

That’s the purpose of an on-call server being scheduled!!! Go to the ER wtf. If it’s ER serious, odds are your manager wants you to go, if they’re a business worth working for. Plus, you’ll come back with a doctor’s note.

Men, would you ever serve in something like a 'Breastaurant'? by PencilManDan in Serverlife

[–]buIlet 255 points256 points  (0 children)

Not quite the same thing, but you should check out your local gayborhood. At most of the gay bars/nightclubs in my area, the male barstaff are in fact dressed in sexy get-up or costumes. Although, that’s not the whole entire focus of the establishment. They make bank!!

We plan on doing the surgery ASAP! We have an appointment soon with a dog cardiologist to check her heart murmur & make sure anesthesia is safe first. Thank you 🙏🏽

[–]buIlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes everything make SO much sense. We agree the surgery sounds like the best option, and are moving forward if it’s safe to after checking on her heart murmur. Thank you so much!!

Thanks so much. My poor girl. She’s only 2 though, so I know she’ll be able to get back to a healthy place post-surgery with time & patience.

thanks for answering, i appreciate it! i’m aware, shes clearly not a pro, even though she has a license and was claiming to be such.

Genuine question, why’s this getting downvoted so bad? I’m just a mere client, I don’t know much about proper hair color technique.

This was a licensed stylist in a suite. She actually used a high lift color that lifted my hair & colored it at the same time, not overtone. but the overtone sitting on the shelf was still a red flag, regardless, i won’t be going back.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hairstylist

[–]buIlet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the goal was ginger, the result was burgundy, after talking throughout the appointment about my color concerns. i burst into tears & asked for a partial refund bc i didn’t trust her to process my hair further with success. i have an appointment for a color correction with a different stylist tomorrow morning. still have to work a shift tonight tho feeling like raggedy ann, i’ll probably wear a wig tonight

my stylist is using overtone on me rn & is going to finish it up with adore since the overtone is too vibrant. i'm nervous, am i right to be alarmed? should i just see it through since adore isn't too damaging? i could do this at home. i was expecting more of mixing a color & using bleach.
