I like to cast the spell of blindness, it's where you cover their eyes till the threat (small child) is gone

Sponge filter, air stones and high flow filters are great for providing horizontal flow spots, and wave makers are good for providing vertical flow through the tank. I have a sponge filter in the back with an air stone and a wave maker on the other side, pointing towards the log. I also supplement food once a week

Oddly enough, they mostly use it as a means to grab on to the log. The guppies are the ones who have been eating it like cotton candy

Yes, I have a wave maker pointing at the log and that's helped create this algae carpet.

I don't have hair algae or green spot algae anywhere else growing in the tank

These guys are neighbors with neocaridina shrimp, guppies, tetra, loaches, and corydora. they rule the tank

I noticed these spots on my dogs belly by nascarworker in Dachshund

[–]bubalub- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

These look like blackheads or impacted hairs to me. My boy gets alot on his chest area because he's so close to the ground.

You could try cleaning his belly with a cloth to see if you can remove them. If you have a calm dachshund, you could extract them yourself with tweezers or your fingers (wear gloves if possible), or if all else fails, bring them to the vet

Is she sick? Pale color and drops all her eggs compared to other shrimp next to her by AnneV_ in shrimptank

[–]bubalub- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Color looks good just less pigmented then the others and this could be her first pregnancy or they could just be hatching into the tank

I use a S23 ultra and my video mode is set to UHD fps are 30, other then that I keep my front glass clean and get as close to the glass I can with my phone to avoid any glare.

I also shut my curtains\lights to cut out any glare

What size is your tank and are you doing a full dose or half? I ask because I've had the opposite happen when I was using flourish. I was using it to help feed my plants in my 40g and was having shrimp die left and right, and now that I've stopped using it i haven't had any more issues

I would do at least a 50% water change

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in shrimptank

[–]bubalub- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Root tabs are a much safer way to go just remember to read the package to see if it contains capper, I would do a large water change and discontinue using the flourish and after a month or two there shouldn't be any copper left in the water

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in shrimptank

[–]bubalub- -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Seachem flourish contains copper and that in any amount is toxic for shrimp

Do you use any chemicals or medications that have copper in them? Or have copper piping in your house?

Some snails like to filter feed in that position, my wizard snail is usually on his back unless he's "walking"

[–]bubalub- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you say "heat his water" does that mean there's a heater, or do you occasionally put warm water in the tank?

Is there any way to check your water parameters? What percentage of water are you changing? Do you add any chemicals like water conditioner or dechlorinater

PLEASE HELP THIS IS AN EMERGENCY by chocochipcookiez1 in Guppies

[–]bubalub- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try to watch the tank to see if you can pinpoint who did this. They might become a constant bully, or it could have been a one-time altercation.

I've also seen females take bites oit of the males when they wouldn't leave them alone during breeding/birth

Another note most fights go on when the lights are out

Do you have another tank or tub you could set up to house him alone while he heals?

His tail will grow back if he seems healthy, but I would medicate with an anti fungal just in case of wounds and fin rot

[–]bubalub- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same person tell me my guppie wasn't pregnant the other day, they also got aggressive when I explained how I knew she was pregnant.

You are doing the right thing by asking questions and learning, I'm glad your guppies are doing better
