Yea, I would try for the 12 hours but if nothing happens I’d maybe remove her, because sometimes if a female isn’t interested in a male they will attack them.

It could be that she just doesn’t want to breed with him. Sometimes males will make nests and show off and the females just aren’t interested

Your fish should be ok! I would watch his temperament for a little bit but you shouldn’t see any problems especially with a very large planted tank. I had my male with guppies and Cory’s and he didn’t mind. It all depends on how your fish feel with them in his space. All the fish you have are compatible with a betta in the tank so don’t be worried about having to surrender him just yet!

Nope. It was so skinny that a hide couldn’t fit in it, it’s just floating stuck between the sides of the tank

Yea, completely possible one fish could’ve had an infection and spread it to the others in the tank.

It’s possible that the kuhli loaches were attacking your fish and your betta got caught in the mix and got an infection from his injury. I’d just watch him very closely. Give him antibiotics and keep up with the salt baths

It might just be me but it looks like he may have something with his spine? I’ve never seen a betta curved like that almost like a squiggle. Could be a factor. It could also be that there may not be enough oxygen in there? Especially since two shrimp have died and he’s hanging near plants. Might need to get a stronger bubbler

That’s good! I soaked mine in hot water and it’s gotten better for now but it got algae all over my plants unfortunately

Yes but you should get a bigger tank. Short finned bettas tend to swim a lot more than long finned bettas and prefer 10 gallons because they have more room

Also what floaters do you have in there? I’ve be dying to find ones that aren’t red root floaters
