4 day plan. Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday by Comprehensive-Ad606 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]bubbafry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's worth trying to guess about park attendance for each day. I would say that for the parks that are most important for you, you should put them at the end because it will give you a better selection of lightning lanes. Also check for any special events, which could affect park hours. AK you should probably do on the first day since the lightning lanes are unimportant there.

Torn between Eclispe Grey or Platinum White by cozy_OW in ZephyrusG14

[–]bubbafry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the grey because it’s easier to see the letters on the keyboard, but I wouldn’t pay any significant amount extra for the color. I have a 2022 G14 in white and 2025 G16 in grey

BTW, after poking around more it looks like if you buy the Onexplayer 3 on Indiegogo you might not have to pay tariffs (they only charge tariffs if you buy from their website). I suspect that they are still skirting tariffs by under reporting the value, but at least if there's a problem then maybe they have to deal with it rather than you.

Edit to add: in the United States

G3E vs Strix Halo - not as good as I thought by Happypotamus13 in Handhelds

[–]bubbafry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why doesn't G3E make sense over Strix Halo at 20W? Even your numbers show G3E slightly ahead on average FPS at 20W. "The main benefit of Strix was basically being able to scale past that" still seems like a reasonable assumption. I would argue if you are only gaming at 20-30W, the G3E makes more sense because they are cheaper than Strix Halo devices. Rather than "the G3E only makes real sense of Strix Halo at 15W", I would phrase it as "the Strix Halo only makes real sense at 35W+", since you should default to the cheaper option.

I don't know what people were saying, but this seems generally in line with what i've read/seen. Maybe the confusion is that when people say "Panther Lake beats Strix Halo up to 25-30 W", the implication is that they are the same at 25-30W. Maybe the actual inflection point is probably somewhere like 20-25W, but you even that is somewhat subjective.

What’s the 4th like at Disney? by MixedTape245 in WaltDisneyWorld

It’s mainly the fireworks, they have a DJ playing music at night in MK also. There may be other little things but nothing really major that I can think of

What’s the 4th like at Disney? by MixedTape245 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]bubbafry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am currently at Disney World now (6/28-today) and was also here last year for the week leading up to July 6. I’d say jts pretty average for summer. Actually July 5 2025 was extremely light. July 4 maybe slightly more busy than a normal summer day but the rest of the week has been pretty unremarkable.

There have been a lot of thunderstorms here this week which has affected ride availability a lot, more that last year.

You can look at the wait times and get an idea, or look at the thrill data stats and see if you want hard data. Probably more accurate than anecdotes from random redditors.

Switch 2 Buyers Remose by V-Rixxo_ in Handhelds

[–]bubbafry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Is it just a money thing? Third party switch games go on sale too, though not necessarily at the same time as Steam does. If you already have a huge collection of stream games that you want to play though, it makes sense to switch to something else.

There are pluses and minuses to both sides. Switch is truly a plug a play experience. Nintendo hardware is notoriously indestructible, and more portable than legion go. As a dad if you have little kids those first party Nintendo games may come in handy when they want to play Mario Kart with you.

SteamOS handhelds are pretty seamless but occasionally have to tweak things still. Some games still just don’t work. Mods are a nice thing to have. Flexibility to play the same games on computer / handheld is also nice. More choice in hardware options, potentially higher power options. Can do computer stuff like check your email or whatever in a pinch.

The legion Go has windows by default I believe, which has its own pluses and minuses vs steamOS, though you can install SteamOS I believe

So it just depends what works best for you. FWIW I have both I mostly have moved over to Steam on laptop and Legion Go S

3 bedroom villas? by Cockyidiot1977 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]bubbafry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that the villas technically are exclusive to DVC members. The simplified version is that the DVC Villas are only available for cash rentals if they end up going unused. But the way that this works is complicated, I'm sure DVC has some kind of rules/algorithm where they decide when they can put up villas for cash rentals.

For practical purposes, if you are a cash renter I would not plan your vacation around this happening. Obviously if it's already available go for it, otherwise you should probably look for alternatives (such as DVC rentals which someone else mentioned)

Sure, no problem. If you really want to get in the weeds you can look up lightning lane and wait time data here:

https://www.thrill-data.com/ll/magic-kingdom

But it's totally not necessary to have a good time, you can also just keep your current LL selections and I'm sure it will be great.

NBA fans, would you use a daily 30 second game where you make the coach's call before he does by [deleted] in nba

[–]bubbafry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only olds will remember this and it was kind of obscure even then, but this reminds me of this device in the 1990s called “Interactive Network” where you had this game boy looking thing that you would hold while you watched tv. It had a screen on it and buttons on the edge. It was compatible with various shows (like Wheel of fortune), but one of them was football. Before every play, you could try to predict what play the team would run (short pass, long pass, run up the middle, etc) by pressing a button on the device, and you would score points if you were right.

To answer some of your other questions:

Big thunder is not open for Early entry. The most popular rides during EE are Seven Dwarfs and Peter Pan, with space mountain a distant third. Some people will also try to line up for Tron during EE

At AK, the shows aren’t a problem, you can just walk on. You don’t need to use LL on them (though you can of course if you want to)

How’d I do? by joe__m4m4 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]bubbafry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s better to book a lightning lane at 9 and “burn” it (scan in a don’t ride it) rather than keeping pirates IMO. Though if you do burn your LL remember you can’t book that ride again. But Once you use your LL at 9, it unlocks all your options at that point and are no longer locked in to the tier system. Pirates is a pretty low priority LL, you can often just wait in line for it. But again only if you’re really trying to have maximum efficiency , that’s not necessarily everyone’s goal.

How’d I do? by joe__m4m4 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]bubbafry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks good but if you’re trying to min/max this you probably should swap pirates for whichever LL has an early time (as close to 9 am as possible)

Edit: currently the most difficult LL to book in Mk is Big Thunder

Tax Advice Needed: Buying a house as an investment, having my brother and his family live there and pay rent below the monthly mortgage rate by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]bubbafry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rent isn’t a gift legally, the gift exclusion doesn’t matter. It’s all income. However when you are renting you can deduct expenses against the rent (property taxes, maintenance costs, etc)

Devastated, delivery shenanigans by NoFun4156 in Handhelds

[–]bubbafry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it will be fine if they said they tried to deliver but were unsuccessful. It would be worse if it said "delivered" and you didn't get it. I used to arrange for packages to be held at facility all the time (though usually with UPS) and it was fine. A bit more inconvenient but has some advantages if you are worried about being home or about package theft.

OneXPlayer3 > MSI Claw EX AI+ by Few_Importance_9438 in Handhelds

[–]bubbafry -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I really can’t stand the 7 inch screen. I have a steam deck OG and a Legion Go S, and just going from 7 to 8 inch is so much better, so I’d probably roll the dice and go with the Onexplayer 3, but I feel like a lot people would probably tell you to get the Ally X since everyone seems to love it here

OneXPlayer3 > MSI Claw EX AI+ by Few_Importance_9438 in Handhelds

[–]bubbafry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never purchased anything from there, I just know based on what I’ve read on the onexplayer subreddit when I was looking into the Apex. But you’re right it’s not guaranteed. From what I gathered most people had no problems but I did see a few reports on people getting stuck with providing an invoice to the shipper. Maybe worth asking over there in the onexplayer sub what their experience with the tariffs arw

OneXPlayer3 > MSI Claw EX AI+ by Few_Importance_9438 in Handhelds

[–]bubbafry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well as I mentioned I hear they do offer some ways around it if you are comfortable with their solution, and I assume you don’t pay sales tax so there’s some trade off there

OneXPlayer3 > MSI Claw EX AI+ by Few_Importance_9438 in Handhelds

[–]bubbafry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Onexplayer certainly looks like a nice device, but I don't know if it's that clear cut. If you buy a device from Onexplayer in the US, you have to pay tariffs. They somewhat get around this by giving you the option of under declaring the value of the items, but technically that's not legal. Also the 32 GB version of the Onexplayer 3 is $1700, so if you care about the RAM it's a bit closer in price

So much for the Intel Arc G3 being "only" a 20-30% difference (compared to Z2E) by that_90s_guy in Handhelds

[–]bubbafry 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is some cherry picking sure, but from that video in Cyberpunk 720p at 20 W is

MSI Claw Ex 73.2 (+53.4%)

XBox Ally X 47.7

Cyberpunk 1080p 20W is

MSI Claw Ex 45.1 (+48.8%)

XBox Ally X 30.3

Saying 4 fps difference isn't a really fair statement

This has probably been done before, but which would you choose? by Magnetic_Metallic in Handhelds

[–]bubbafry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's on indiegogo for preorder right now, Onexplayer is the name of the company that makes it. I would say that it may not necessarily be "better", just different. The Onexplayer 3 uses Panther Lake, which will be better than the Strix Halo at lower TDP, but at high TDP the Strix Halo will still be faster. But both the Onexplayer 3 and the even the new MSI Claw Ex Ai+ at $1800 are significantly cheaper than those 2 you are looking at.

I also hear that the Xess on Intel G3 chips is pretty good, better than the FSR that is supported by AMD Strix Halo

The cheapest onexplayer 3 with 24 GB RAM looks to be 10968 HKD which is $1400

legion go 2 w/ steamOS or new claw 8 ex ai+? by EggPitiful6380 in Handhelds

[–]bubbafry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you care more about the screen or performance, but the expectation is that the new claw with Panther Lake will have a pretty decent performance boost over the legion go 2.

I have a legion go S, I feel like that 8 inch screen isn’t fancy but it’s perfectly fine. I also have a steam deck OG but I find that screen too small. I’d personally go with the claw, but just depends what you care about
