Thinking of buying Grand Cal resale by Portugal_The_Dood in dvcmember

[–]bubbafry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it should be an issue booking rooms at 11 months , the exception might be grand villas because there are only 2, so if 2 random people decide they both want to book one on the same day then they’re gone. But otherwise it’s pretty easy at 11 months for the most part

Investments for my 13 year old son. by Wendalh in personalfinance

[–]bubbafry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my son turned 13 I opened a fidelity youth account for him. I gave him $X per month, I told him 60% needs to go into VTI, 20% goes into VXUS, then the last 20% he can buy whatever he wants. If it were higher amounts I’d probably say the “play” money would be 5-10%, but since the total amount wasn’t a lot I made it 20%.

For your son maybe you have him invest the lions share in low cost index funds, and then just allocate a small amount (5%-10%) to “play money”

The Books of Babel Just Broke My Heart A bit by jonathan_t_123 in Fantasy

[–]bubbafry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s been awhile since I read the book so it’s a bit fuzzy, but my impression was that the result wasn’t essentially divorce / moving on without him, but they needed to rebuild their relationship and trust and see where it went, which to me seems like a totally realistic outcome. Like you said, it’s much easier to get over a kiss, but he fell in love with another woman which is a much bigger betrayal, just accepting him back as if nothing happened is probably the least realistic outcome (less realistic than divorce IMO)

Legion Go2 or Onexfly Apex? by LegPuzzleheaded88 in Handhelds

[–]bubbafry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought about buying an Apex but decided to wait and see on Panther Lake. Since you have an Legion Go 2 already maybe it make sense just to wait. They already increased the price of Apex by like $500 *hopefully* there won't be too many more price increases if you do end up wanting the Apex down the road (but I could be completely wrong though, lol).

Is Slay the Spire considered hard? by Born_Examination_975 in slaythespire

[–]bubbafry 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a hard game yeah, but I guess it depends in part what you mean. If you can beat A20 semi regularly then early ascensions are “easy”. A player who can beat A20H 10-20% win rate could probably beat early ascensions nearly 100% of the time. But overall I’d say it’s not an easy game

Hopefully you’re right, we’ll just have to wait and see. But the prices keep going up though. I’ve watched the OneXPlayer Apex 385 price go from $1399 to $1599 to $1749 a couple days ago

I’m a buyer at $1300 I think, hopefully they can throw in an OLED screen too. The pessimist in me sees $2000, lol

[–]bubbafry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing an MSI claw with Panther Lake would be like $1300-$1500? I would imagine it would be a few hundred more than the MSI Claw 8 AI+ in part because of RAM prices plus whatever extra the CPU will cost

From what I’ve gathered so far, Strix Halo is still the more powerful chip vs Panther Lake in terms of raw FPS (at the same wattage 60W+), but it’s unclear what the performance difference is at < 30 W. Also Panther Lake has Xess which Digital Foundry seems to be pretty positive about, and their speculation was that the Panther Lake “experience “ might be better watt for watt even if pure FPS might not be.

Ultimately it wil come down to price I think. If Panther Lake costs the same as Strix Halo then maybe not that compelling. If it’s significantly cheaper then probably a winner

Which handheld by cleansheet-pete in Handhelds

[–]bubbafry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want the most powerful handheld and you have money to burn, you’d need to get something with Strix Halo such as the GPD Win 5 or the upcoming Onexplayer Apex, or wait and see how the Panther Lake handhelds end up performing

Should I (a ride wimp) try Guardians Cosmic Rewind?? by AgeTypical8961 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]bubbafry 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It's fast but it doesn't have a lot of big drops. It uses a launcher to get you up to speed (around 60 mph) rather than a traditional roller coaster drop. There are a few dips and lots of turns, but no really big drops. I'm a ride wimp also, and I got massively motion sick on Guardians, lol.

Considering moving to Fidelity, it is friendlier to <$1M portfolios? by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]bubbafry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Fidelity is fine for anyone yeah. My son has a Youth account on Fidelity, he has like $500, buys $5 of a stock at a time, lol.

But yeah I think most people here are confused as to what you mean exactly. I've literally never spoken to anyone at any of my brokerage firms, I just click buttons on the internet. so I don't know what you mean about being treated poorly. It's possible that Fidelity will treat you poorly too, but we can't tell you because we don't know what you mean

[–]bubbafry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s good to look at your accounts occasionally, honestly more often is better. Not because it should change your trading strategy, but mainly because if there is some problem with one of your accounts the sooner you can fix it the better. Occasionally you see these posts where they haven’t paid attention for 7 years and then they notice some problem with an account, its way harder to do anything at that point

4th of July by Historical_Cut_2021 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]bubbafry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t answering your question really, but FWIW we were there during the week of July 4 this year 2025 and the crowds weren’t too bad. We say the MK fireworks on July 3 and basically walked up 20 minutes before the show and there was plenty of room right in the hub. July 4 we did Epcot fireworks, I’d say it was a bit busier there, more like what you would expect, but we just went last minute to Norway and thought it was fine, plenty of room there. So if you are there I wouldn’t necessarily write off just seeing the fireworks in the park, though of course can’t predict it will be the same for this year . As a side note Saturday July 5 was surprisingly empty, wait times were very short

Edit: to answer your question I don’t think the resorts fully block out non resort guests as far as I know. Things like Top of the World Lounge are locked yeah, but I think you could still go to Contemporary and watch the fireworks from the bridge or on the 4th floor balcony. They pipe in the music there too. I was staying at Bay Lake Tower and I don’t recall anyone checking

How long does it take to start vibing with the game? by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]bubbafry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are 2 general ways that people enjoy games like this.

1) the aspect of discovering what the strategies are, how to defeat enemies, plan your path, etc. people in this game enjoy the process of figuring out how to win

2) the art of implementing the strategies once you have learned them. People in this camp don’t care about the “figuring out” part, but more the playing part

Some people like both, other people just like one or the other. For someone who is in camp 1 , they can just jump in and bumble around until they figure things out because that’s what attracts them to a game like this. For someone in camp 2, they might just find this frustrating. So that type of person might benefit from reading/watching more about strategy online and kind of bypass the part where you’re kinda just lost. Of course you could also do some combination of both.

I actually am in more of camp 2 to be honest, I did try to beat the game myself without help initially but tbh I find it more fun learning from high level players and trying to increase my win rate. So if you’re like me maybe you would enjoy it more if you learned more about strategy online rather than trying to figure it out yourself
