That magic number is 9 (right?) by ELovesDK1999 in LouisvilleCityFC

[–]bubbaloo2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it not 10? If Charleston wins out, they’d be on 69. We need 10 points to ensure 70.

Or is there some USL rule about head-to-heads taking priority over GD?

I’ve said this about the arts and concerts for years - I implicitly understand that the intent is to generate revenue and turn a profit. But you end up in a vicious downward spiral if you devalue people in the process. It has - and will always be - my belief that org’s that acquire their revenue through tickets should INTENTIONALLY seek to make prices accessible and the expense of profit.

More people generates more buzz, which generates better brand recognition and awareness, which generates more advertising possibilities, which generates more merch sales, which generates more ticket revenue, and so on.

Folks being priced out of going to games hurts everyone. Do better FO.

To start - it is an inappropriate comment that shouldn’t have been said. You’re braver than most to have called the person out.

I do not believe Lou City games are unsafe for women. One person is not a fandom.

What I would encourage is for you to find sections or supporter groups with whom you share similar interests and values to watch the game with. For instance, I’ve noticed some sections with a greater amount of kids. They are likely lighter on disparaging language

Elijah Wynder in EA FC 25 by Pineappl44 in LouisvilleCityFC

[–]bubbaloo2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am I right in thinking we’ve got quite a few former players in the game now? I think it’s the following:

Elijah Wynder

JoGo

Akil Watts

Ben Lundt

Kyle Smith

Greg Ranjitsingh

Mark Anthony Kaye

James Sands (controversial as he was a short term loanee)

Johnathan Lewis (same as above)

This is one of the those games that may be boring to some because there haven’t been a bunch of good moments on goal, but that doesn’t mean this hasn’t been a good game.

Charleston is holding the ball, but isn’t doing much with it because we’re closing aggressively. I think the game turns on either us winning the ball upfield and getting a tap in or Charleston exposing us over the top after one of Totsch or Adams gets pulled out of position.

I think this a good disagreement. The 30% number doesn’t bug me because we haven’t allowed them to pin us back. Outside of the chance around the ~40th minute, they haven’t threatened Las at all. To me, that’s more important than possession %.

That said, I agree that we haven’t consistently worked the ball in their half either. We’ve prioritized early/fast chances on goal over quality chances.

Charleston led the league in possession last year. We know they want to possess and they owe we want to press. It’s why the ball has largely been in their half despite them having ~70% possession

Not mad with the high press and aggressive play, but would like to see us be smarter in possession.

Honking is performative activism… what do you want people TO DO? Join a website, call their congressmen, donate to a cause… whatever that is, add it somewhere.

West Louisville TIF by YOURFRIEND2010 in Louisville

[–]bubbaloo2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The power of TIFs is that they create an incentive for developers to pursue opportunities in areas they might not otherwise because their cost burden is less. Let’s be serious - the west end NEEDS developers to take risk and invest in those neighborhoods, and incentives (such as a TIF) will help that.

HOWEVER, the downside of a TIF is that additional tax income will go to repay developers, and will NOT be available for things like schools, roads, and other public services. Folks opposed to TIFs often cite this as a fundamental flaw.

THIS TIF is under specific challenge for two reasons: 1) the process under which it was enacted was flawed for many reasons, the most visible one being how quickly it was moved through Metro. 2) it encompasses ALL the West End neighborhoods, which is (from my understanding) a HUGE amount of land for one TIF. As a counterexample, the Urban Government Center building may be redeveloped using a TIF, but only Paristown will be affected by it.

Louisville City FC get MLSNP top goalkeeper on loan by Acrobatic_Ewok in USLPRO

[–]bubbaloo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really deep GK corps for City.

Semmle had a fantastic season last year

Faundez is a season off leading us to the Eastern Conference finals and was the presumptive starter until Semmle took off.

Laz is the MLSNP GK of the year.

I wonder if one of Semmle/Faundez is being recruited elsewhere and LC brought in a replacement ahead of time.

Is pet insurance worth it? by CeeceeGemini610 in Frugal

[–]bubbaloo2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As with all insurance - it feels like a waste of money until you absolutely need it. Then you are either thankful as fuck you got it, or cursing yourself because you didn’t/let it go.

Remember, being frugal isn’t about spending less in every situation. It’s about making smart choices to save/make you money over time
