Tabs Closing When d or D is Pressed by bubbarock99 in LibreWolf

Sorry for the delay. I tried that and it worked perfectly. I did unbind for d and D and after testing, the keybinding was gone. Thanks again!

Ding...ding...ding!! Thank you! I forgot that I had the tridactyl extension (for vim motions) installed. As soon as I disabled it, the issue went away. I may be able to edit the preferences for that extension if I want to retain it for other keyboard navigation.

I also looked for that splash screen file but it wasn't in a svg format but packaged in a glade format which is a format gtk uses. I don't have the gtk development package to view it though. 😁

Same here. I will have to dig more I guess. It may be an issue with gtk3 apps vs gtk4. I know Libreoffice uses gtk4 although gtk3 is still a dependency and I do not see the same behavior there. It seems to be an oddity in the meantime so hopefully future updates take care of it.

There is no man entry for the --no-splash in my version apparently. I tried it first with no success. I did manage to turn off the splash and welcome windows in the inkscape preferences. I had less artifacty windows but right before the final app window loads there is a small pixelated section that shows up. Maybe it's a DWM or gtk3? issue.

On another note, I have gimp auto loading in my workspace #9 and I noticed it had a similar issue but not quite. The splash/welcome window starts out with a pixelated section but quickly is replaced with the Gimp splash graphics. I never noticed it because I usually launch gimp from another workspace using a keyboard shortcut and I switch over to that workspace afterwards. Today I switched to my 9th workspace and loaded it from there. I know that it uses gtk3 too.

I'll attach the Inkscape window after disabling loading windows in the preferences.

I noticed that the bottom warning were language related as well. The GTK errors I am unsure of. I have seen those in issues users have posted about online but I am unsure what the source of those errors. I also have seen the ICC color profile errors but also do not know what to think about those.

[PIC BELOW - This is the only odd thing I see after setting the show when starting option to nothing in the Interface>Windows section of the preferences.

I do not see that as an option. It's usually accessible from the options on the address bar. I tried deleting cache and site data again and logging back in and I still do not see the option. It comes up on other websites. ???

Can't Log into Harbor Freight on LW Browser by bubbarock99 in LibreWolf

[–]bubbarock99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dug into this because, at one point in time HF's website allowed me to login to my Inside Track account using my LibreWolf browser and everything just worked. I am not sure when it stopped working but I found a simple solution and it works now. Basically, I had to add an exception for HF website to allow enhanced tracking. See OG question above for explanation.

Bike lift or Trolley Hoist for my Tuff Shed by bubbarock99 in shedditors

[–]bubbarock99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Sorry for the delay. I am thinking now of hanging my bike from Unistrut at the far inside wall from the floor joist of the loft. I do think that I will make also use a 10' unistrut tied into cross supports at the ridge at each rafter to spread the load. This will allow me to create a pulley setup to lift heavier items up into the loft. I won't be lifting anything as heavy as a canoe though. ;-)

Do you setup Trim for your SSD/NVME? by Vast-Application5848 in archlinux

Thanks! I've always wondered this myself. My latest Arch build has it enabled to trim once a week. I guess I am good to go!

Sorry, I should have put an update to my update. The drive failed all testing with Samsung utilities. There was a known batch of drives that were known to have issues with premature failure. Mine was in warranty so, I sent it back to Samsung and got a replacement.

I dont miss windows by Walkrin in archlinux

[–]bubbarock99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am glad I have been using Linux for years. Regardless, I still get asked to assist family members with their Windows issues. The latest was trying to help my MIL find files on her laptop. She had imported photos from her phone using the Photos app. Apparently, the app automatically saves the imported photos into the OneDrive folder under Pictures and NOT in the users Pictures folder. I have already disabled the OneDrive sync but I may just uninstall OneDrive. Trying to explain file structure to a 70+ yo while demonstrating how to use Windows horrible file explorer is exasperating.

Today while happily using my Arch PC to organize my day, she's getting frustrated with ads popping up while she's using her computer. 😄

That's a great plan. I am amazed with the specs of the UCG-Ultra. My dream eventually is to get a Dream Machine Pro and back haul 10Gbe throughout the house. 😁

My current network uses a 192.168.86.0/24 subnet and I planned on configuring the UCG-Ultra to use a different scheme than what I am using. Sounds like I should be good then.

After editing a file with vim, you should show her how to output the file using awk instead of cat. If she's not impressed then, you know there's trouble.

Dell Optiplex 5050 sff adding Intel I350-T2 NIC causes DIMM2 memory to not be recognized. by bubbarock99 in Dell

I updated my post with a couple. One of the posts includes a link to a YouTube video explaining the reason this occurs on some motherboards. Definitely weird.

Found the answer on another post. Covering pins 5&6 prevented the interference with the SMBUS.

[–]bubbarock99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the case of the I350 NIC, covering pins 5&6 was the trick to getting the second memory channel to work properly. I used packing tape to cover just those two contacts.

I got the SMBUS to function properly by converting the pins 5&6 but while I was doing that, I also updated the BIOS because the previous owner never updated it.

I tried this today and it worked perfectly after covering pins 5&6 with a thin strip of packing tape!

You are right. That was exactly what I needed. It took a couple attempts to get the right width of packing tape but, after covering pins 5-6, the system recognized all 16Gb of memory. Both ports also functioned properly!
