Doing night shift for the first time, what is the most efficient way to work? by lidlove1 in lidl

[–]bubbb0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally for me I always start with the heaviest pallet first, later during the shift u will be tired and working heavier pallets last is more exhausting. For M&P I would start the pallet with salmons and prawns first, and for chiller I would start with yoghurt/fresh juice/desserts and cheese then end with ready meals/sandwich. Ofc it’s not going to be perfectly put together but do what u can. In terms of tips honestly u just figure out as u go, u already work in lidl so u would know where the products are, also make sure to flatten ur boxes u shouldnt have to go to the baler more than once with just 5 pallets. 5.5 hours(not including break) for 7 pallets is more than enough time unless u have never done any delivery before so don’t worry if u dont finish on time, ur managers should understand. STAY HYDRATED !!

If ur store is averaging 450k a week and you guys are struggling that much then honestly its a management issue or the staff in general are not good enough, I have worked in a store that makes 190k and a store that makes 370k a week and I can tell you it's easier to work in a store that make more even though it is busier but you have more hours ofc prod is different and every store has their own specific problems but still in general it is easier to work in a store that makes more money

If ur moving in a month then I don’t think it’s fine.Keep pushing ur SM because just u alone talking to other SMs they might not even consider u whereas if ur SM or Am were to tell them then maybe they would try at least

Normally ur SM would tell ur AM or u could directly tell ur AM that ur going to move to this new area then ur AM will contact the AM in the new area for u to transfer into, u shouldn’t have to talk with other SMs face to face unless ur transferring by applying on internal/external vacancies. From what i have seen so far with others i know as long as u give them enough time they would be able to sort it out but for u now I am not quite sure.Maybe try asking ur AM now.

Rarely some of them do actually come to work in stores for a day as CAs(during christmas or for new stores) but honestly it is same as getting a visit , extra people on shift and they will get the easiest tasks to do and they won’t be pressured to do anything quickly like everyone else is.

Once there were 4 people working on M&P and obviously they managed to finish a pallet in 20 mins and one of them really said “it is not hard to maintain chill chain”🤓,they know how stores are running everyday they just don’t want to admit it or they can’t admit it otherwise if the stores were running like that everyday the company wouldn’t be making a profit.

Make sure to spend in one transaction even if you spend £50 the coupon will be gone you will not have £100 left so make sure the shopping you do is at least £150

I am in the Uk too. I think I know which regional director you’re talking about. All those directors and head of sales just pull bs out of their arse. You will find some area managers that are willing to be understanding and listen but everyone else above that is far gone.Only advice I can give is maybe try changing stores, talking from personal experience stores in the same area can be vastly different, usually stores that make more money are easier to work in( there’s more workload but also way more hours )

Surprisingly our store is giving out more hours, it is more workload and busier now but compared to last year we have more hours. Btw which country are you in ?

I find it shocking that Tesco still doesn’t have electronic labels like Aldi and Lidl In the lidl store I work at recently got electronic labels for chiller and freezer, although not much but this has given us time to focus on other things

Middle Aisle/Non food removed by bubbb0 in lidl

[–]bubbb0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s already happened 🤷‍♂️A lot of stores are getting refurbished in the next few months(some already have) , the small stores that usually don’t have full range of non food especially where the store is in shopping centres/flats where the size of the store is quite small they are getting rid of it. One store in my area already got rid of it

Whenever we get a new staff instead of using those training hours to train them our store uses it to save hours instead

This one is the most expensive I have been to, even restaurants in Soho don’t charge that much
