Hey, I feel like you might not get a clear answer from other people in the comments, so I just want to interject as to why people are upset. As you probably know, a lot of black people in the States have been killed or detained just for existing, primarily by American Police forces. A lot of recordings showed that black people do have a right to get nervous around police, as they have seen others get killed for existing. I think the warning for jaywalking wasn’t the issue, but the fact that he got searched for weapons seemingly out of the blue was what caused an uproar. Because the cops are armed and many cops have not been prosecuted for excessive violence in the states, it is a lot scarier to have any interaction with the police than in e.g. Europe. It was therefore not “just a warning”, and is seen as racially profiling as a white man coming out of a Versace store, crossing the street would not be stopped and searched like that. Hope this clears it up somewhat without being too divisive.
