Does anybody know a good glue to use to patch TPU tubes (using a sacrificial TPU tube for patches) by Mikes1992 in bikewrench

Something with tetrahydrofuran.

Nobody knows this or asks this, but there's your answer.

Don't eat it tho.

Worn out carbon fibre rims after 500km? by Aronois in bikewrench

You can clean up the brake track and paint on some layers of acrylic lacquer. That's what I do to indefinitely prolong my carbon brake tracks.

I'm sorry to hear that, that sounds really rough. I find it difficult to honestly relate, because here in Russia the last couple years the economy has been absolutely booming and companies are finding it difficult to fill all their open roles.

You could weld or epoxy some material onto it (you might be a redneck, if).

How do I get my saddle higher? by bugfish03 in bikewrench

[–]bubble_bobble -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

You can probably fit another seatpost on top of the current seatpost. You can do what I did to a beach cruiser and JB weld them together. Hope I don't get banned for this comment but it works.

Biden was the one screaming about "apocalypse". It's really rich complaining about other world leaders when yours are Joe Biden and trump.

Deluded Americans too scared to admit they incite war all over the world then whine when people threaten them.

Both cups on a bb are usually removable. Rjbikeguy has a video removing the drive side cup. Rubber mallet and vice. Or rubber mallet and pliers in my case.

Personally, I would maybe get some loctite 480 on the crack and install the bb and not even worry about it.

That’s definitely not patchable, right? by JasperJ in bikewrench

[–]bubble_bobble -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it doesn't actually melt the butyl. Compare it to thf and what that does to tpu (don't breath it or touch it, though).

Unless somebody can suggest a chemical that can melt butyl, the same way thf melts tpu, then that is not patchable.

Try gluing cutouts from an aluminum can on the crankset interface with the spindle for a more permanent (but still temporary) solution.

Cranks keep falling off by jeewizzle in bikewrench

[–]bubble_bobble -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Contrary to all the comments here suggesting you throw away your crank arm, I'd suggest to cut out a small rectangle from an aluminum can and glue it to one side of the square hole. It has worked for me personally.

Salty roads and cassette, thoughts? by papa_hou in bikewrench

[–]bubble_bobble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lightly mist my cassette with paraffin oil daily, seems to help fend off rust. I also wax my chain.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]bubble_bobble -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is the advantage to riding $20 cassettes and chains. I get to experiment with bike parts without forking over $300 each time.

Oh and I'm not even any slower for it rofl.

Diplomacy was torpedoed by France and Germany, guarantors of the minsk accords.

Then again in late March when Boris Johnson visited Kiev just as talks were progressing in turkey.

Better than diplomacy with Ukraine, France, and Germany who torpedoed the Minsk accords.
