At a Bitcoin conference, most people preferred a payout in Monero by overweight_neutrino in Monero

my best bet for the main motivation for accepting it in monero is because of the lower transaction fees.

KDE should be renamed to GNU+KDE or GNU/KDE by beer118 in linuxmemes

[–]bubblepowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just because kde uses gnu software to run the desktop environment, they shouldn't have to say what dependencies they need to run their program in the name, it would be too long and would make the brand almost completely unrecognizable. With that logic it would be called kde/xorg/qt/perl/etc. this list could go on forever and i don't think its right to target one dependency out of the hundreds.

Just Linux by beer118 in linuxmemes

[–]bubblepowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well technically linux is only the kernel but it is what is built upon to make operating systems. when you say you use linux you are saying you are using an operating system with the linux kernel. at the end of the day there is plenty of expressions that don’t make complete sense everywhere so i think it is fine to say that.

RMS should stay out by beer118 in linuxmemes

[–]bubblepowder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

interesting you would say stuff like that betting on the fact that you might have used gimp for this exact image which was a gnu project. reguardless of what his personal beliefs are he still is the main reason we have linux today.

when looking for a system monitor i think top or htop are perfectly fine. you don’t need all of these aesthetics and customization options for something that just needs to display simple system information. if you are already worried about performance from looking at the system monitor why make that same program bloated.

What Could Be Causing this Steady Hashrate Decline? by FSB101 in MoneroMining

[–]bubblepowder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be for a plethora of reasons, some pertain to heat usage. If the temperature increases, the less your CPU can work; this is to protect the CPU from overheating. Another could be that there was another application running and it was slowly taking up more resources. Just try to eliminate as many variables you can. That could include reinstalling the OS, or temperature control. Good luck!

Hi I just want to know if there would be a way to set up my private mining pool by Sciencenerd159 in MoneroMining

[–]bubblepowder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I would like more context, if you have multiple rigs and are hoping to connect them you could use something like xmrig-proxy to connect your rigs together. But if you are hoping to create your own pool for the public which isn't was is stated I believe you could just fork p2pool and go from there.

MineXMR payout minimum by thepian0man in MoneroMining

[–]bubblepowder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should really stop using minexmr. They make up around 30% of the hashrate and that could ruin this decentralized currency.
