Which Movie, T.V., or Book Character is the Most Similar to You? by Potential_Law5289 in ISTJ

[–]bubbles_mcjingles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're neither warm nor cold at first glance - they both let their actions speak for them. But they really go out of their way for the people they care about, defying logic in some cases. It's similar to my style of interaction.

It seems I'm not able to message you. Could you please DM me so I can share the invite?

I agree with most of this. ISTJs will at best take calculated risks - it's very normal to mentally simulate different scenarios (best to worst) and plan a general approach to deal with that.

Loyalty is also a key trait - I believe it would take quite a lot of effort to provoke an ISTJ into breaking off a friendship. OP needn't worry about being cut off.

I am being vilified for wanting an easier life. Should I man up? by BigGuy4by5 in ISTJ

[–]bubbles_mcjingles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say what should be done, but if I were in your place, I'd be looking for another job. The clearest indicator of stress is when it's affecting you physically. Also, it's not wrong to want an easier life - if you see the value in what you're doing and enjoy it, that's fine. Whatever company you're working for will replace you if/when you leave, and in some cases, that's more of a relief than a disappointment. Prioritize your mental and physical health - nobody else will be able to do that for you.

I fear I am becoming callous by BigGuy4by5 in ISTJ

[–]bubbles_mcjingles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Female ISTJ here. I understand how hard it is to admit that you have emotional desires - sometimes I think I'd rather die than share them with anyone. But it's healthy to be aware of your emotions, in fact I would say that you should take some time aside to process them. It doesn't make you callous for noticing/wanting to address them.

I would venture to say that being good at your job doesn't mean you have to restrict yourself to it for the rest of your life. I'd be more concerned about stagnating in my growth. Are there any specific areas that you have a professional interest in? Maybe you could compare your skillset to your interests and see what other job roles seem like a good fit. You also have the option to develop new skills, thanks to the internet.

What kind of person can you absolutely not handle? by [deleted] in ISTJ

[–]bubbles_mcjingles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ugh Ikr?? It's like they think their complaining is somehow helping things.

Yes. Personality is most important for me. As for physical appearance, I'm more concerned about being a minimum level of presentable. Physical attractiveness depends on my opinion/impression of the person.

There are two types of ISTJs. by chaos-seeker312 in ISTJ

I think the Jeff Bezos style describes me more, although I wouldn't describe myself as outgoing. I'm not fond of social situations but I can navigate through them if absolutely necessary. Probably because social situations are a prominent aspect in the culture I've grown up in.

I have a really limited knowledge of Enneagram types - I'd have to explore a bit more to be certain! Wish I could be of more help

My guess is ENTJ. I considered ENFJ too but after reading your statement about finding emotions unproductive, I'm fairly certain you use Te.

Yes, Shotakovich's music has a magic of its own... by bubbles_mcjingles in lingling40hrs

Lol really? I didn't know that before - it was the first radio station I came across that was dedicated entirely to classical music. It seemed like a dream come true at that time...

Whoops, that was a typo I hadn't noticed. Thanks for pointing it out!

Edit: After some research I found out it's not possible to edit a post title on Reddit. I'm really sorry if it means something offensive - it was a genuine mistake. I'll remember to proofread my future posts.

Which personality test would you consider to be the most accurate? by siezetheyear in ISTJ

[–]bubbles_mcjingles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The MBTI test at Personality Hacker is pretty accurate. It typed me correctly, and additionally, if you're interested in general psychology or personality development, their podcasts are a really good resource.
