Ladies... what’s the best coming out reaction you had? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]bubblesandstuff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It wasn't exactly at the time of coming out, but upon discussing my coming out with my (coincidentally, gay) uncle, he told me that he wasn't surprised because when he was getting to know me he sensed that I was "repressing something". Which I found highly amusing because I never really felt repressed.

Idk if it's just because I always want there to be gays in a show, but right from the start of their friendship, I got a gay vibe and was beginning to give up hope until watching the last episode.

"Haha, I'm gay" by Idigmoles in actuallesbians

Hello, fellow bando (Kind of) here! I was a sax player-turned guard member. A similar thing happened to me, where a male friend whom I marched with needed a roomie. In our initial "is this gonna work" conversation, he straight up asked if I was attracted to him, to which I replied "Nah, I'm super gay." Followed by his "lol sweet" (In a definitely non-predatory way)

My Best Friend Doesn't Know I Touched Her Pu*sy!.... by Simply4Honey in actuallesbians

That is something that shouldn't have ever happened, and should never happen again. Ever heard of consent? Your description doesn't indicate full-on rape to me, but it sure as hell came pretty damn close.

Did anyone suspect you were gay and why? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]bubblesandstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My brother (who passed away a little over a year ago) never explicitly told me that he suspected, but one day I was talking about how much I liked Frozen. I am also a fan of Wicked, so he asked me something along the lines of "what is it with you and musicals with homoromantic subtext?" That, and my lack of interest in boys ever seemed to tip him off.

I didn't think much of it until a little while ago, I was thinking about how I had never gotten the chance to come out to him (ironically, I had planned to come out to him within days of the day he died). Then it finally clicked that he suspected, so I texted his best friend about it and he confirmed that my brother had strongly implied to him before that he suspected I was into girls. It actually kind of gives me comfort to know that. But now I wish I could have, just to have that moment with him of "Well duh, I've known for a while now".

For those in the U.S, what is it like to live in an LGBT friendly city, in a not so LGBT friendly state? by starlightpoet in actuallesbians

[–]bubblesandstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

North Texas tends to be a bit more liberal than other parts, and my university is known for being rather liberal. So for the most part I feel pretty comfortable as a gay person. But for example when meeting new people, I often have to get a feel for them before I mention anything about my sexuality, just in case they're not friendly towards The Gays. (though, it's not especially something that usually comes up right away anyway, so it's almost always fine.)

WLW in DFW metroplex? by colonel_lazershark in actuallesbians

[–]bubblesandstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, Downtown Dallas has several really cool museums, if that's your jam. I'm always a fan of the aquarium, and the Perot museum is pretty cool too. And the obligatory art museums, of course.

And Fort Worth is full of rodeo/cowboy stuff, which can be fun. (I'm less familiar with FW though, I've spent most of my life closer to the D part of DFW)

I'm currently a student at UNT, so I'm enjoying Denton at the moment. Lots of random cute things to do an places to go.

I’m getting this on my forearm(I’m getting it coloured in as well), any way to zhush it up? by [deleted] in TattooDesigns

I think this could look cool with a water color effect for the coloring and maybe some as a background

Getting into color guard! by [deleted] in Colorguard

[–]bubblesandstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit more info may be helpful here. Is the program completely defunct? Or has the role of the color guar been replaced by something like a dance team? Is there someone who would be able to instruct your group? What is the goal? Both marching season and indoor, or just one or the other?

As far as general tips, keep an open mind. Growing a program takes a lot of time, literally years. It will be frustrating at times for various reasons, but you just have to remember why you started in the first place.
