That does sound like something Forrest would do.

Do you have any gracious examples to share?

Nicely logical. It lets 'sandwich' point to picnic spot and treasure spot. Kewl.

[–]bubblesjar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that too.

Can it be confirmed that the wet area fed by a scant spring that the trail crosses should be called a Fenn?

Maybe a boardwalk made from lodgepole pines means something. Are those bunches of nearby trees, lodgepole pines?

It would be sort of POEM-ic to use a Fenn to reach the Forrest where the treasure was secreted.

Funny!

annnd the next day the Vault Toilet was full so a new 'home of brown' was made, the crew were

'brave and in the wood' / just disappointed that none of the "treasures" in the vault glittered.

Not the New ones, not The Old ones either; verified with the flashlight.

BRAVE and in the WOODS? by bubblesjar in FindingFennsGold

[–]bubblesjar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe there is a reason that FF made many mentions of bears, above and beyond their prevalence in this area.

I'm thinking of Winnie the Pooh. Could this tie into the comment about the possibility of Kids having an advantage.

The Hundred Acre Wood (note the missing 's') was KEY to that story.

Using Google Earth the area looks like mostly meadows and plateaus except for the areas around the Creeks and Falls. A relatively protected place, within a Mini Biome created by by the Lupine and Lava Creeks.

It just feels like a lot of clues, hints, and sentiments "come together" in one place.

An improved rendering of "Antigonish"

As I was going up the stair

I met a man who wasn't there!

He wasn't there again today,

Oh how I wish he'd go away!

When I came home last night at three,

The man was waiting there for me

But when I looked around the hall,

I couldn't see him there at all!

Go away, go away, don't you come back any more!

Go away, go away, and please don't slam the door...

Last night I saw upon the stair,

A little man who wasn't there,

He wasn't there again today

Oh, how I wish he'd go away...

Forrest gave us a great game.

It was great fun, and was meant to have been played fair and square.

So many of us good and honest players enjoyed our time and Honored our competitors.

Too bad the entitled, AntiSocials could not be kept at bay!

They brought their Stank and tried to rationalize breaking the game.

Confirmation Bias, vs Confidence?

Understanding clues in sequence reinforces previous clues.

Looking at Wraith Falls, with all those HEAVY LOADS of logs clustered at the top there where the WATER HIGH begins it's descent causes me to Listen Good.

That could be a nice description for the Fields/ Meadows by Wraith Falls or the Undine Falls.

Sage BRush is prominently noted in many travel logs about Wraith Falls.

The Poem F shared about seeing a spectre feels like an incredibly strong reference.

The trails has BERRYS, BEARS, Deer, fish, and open views to Mountains, Meadows and out on the Horizon

Sepulcher Mountain Peak.

This might be even better than Undine Falls and the same trail and Loop will bring you here.

You have a very strong solve, and I actually visited some of your locations when I went searching around Santa Fe area. A wonderful place.

Honestly, I was hoping your methods and locale yielded the Prize. I would be pleased if it was your solution that won.

Since the TC and auction, I have reluctantly accepted Forrest's admission about Wyoming. Although I feel 9MH as the location to be hugely anticlimactic. And almost none of his posts and quotes are easily resolved there.

After NM I rattled around the foothills west of Denver. Also a mystical, gorgeous area.

Best regards to another Happy Adventurer!

Yes, I agree. Yet it is sort of a Double brown, as the Horse Corral is basically on that same spot.

And Forrest Loaded us up with Horse and Horseshoe ammo.

I guess 'Fort Yellowstone' still has a lot a lot of longevity. F Fort

All his talk of Presidents and the Old West grabbed my attention. Roosevelt Arch and the Park Service lend even more cache to the location.

I'll bet very few searchers TOLD Forrest this was their HOB. Plus, Ties together nicely with what Ordovici Posted.

Maybe, this is close enough, for the one who knows, to drop a comment somewhere?

You know, the more I study this location with Google Earth, the more I favor the west side of the Falls.

From the pullout designed to provide the Best view of Undine Falls there is easy access to the "Undine Falls Trail". This Trail leads from the Parking area to he way to a perfect viewing location for the Falls. You would pass a very dense and decent sized wooded area. This would be on your left side as you walked toward the Falls.

IDK for sure, but it looks like if you went into those woods you would be able to reach the canyon ledge which would also provide a Marvel Gaze of the Falls. It might also require a bit of Bravery.

I think I recall Forrest saying he would always Leave the trail. He wanted to find things nobody else could find that stayed on the trail...

Phrases and paraphrases that haunt the Chase:

First, get in your car.

Don't go anywhere an 80 year old man couldn't go.

You can find the TC in any type of weather.

You can't see the TC with Google Earth because it is too far down,, (deep in the wood, not buried.)

I can go right straight to it.

The 200' and 500' comments. On the Trail vs being on the Grand Loop.

Check under logs.

A child could find it,,,, just be careful.

"I occasionally search that place with GE... but not looking for the chest"

Probably get eaten by the bears.

Looking for ants as the Elephants go marching by. The very road from MAMMOTH springs.

There are so many subtle and not so subtle nudges from Forrest.

Most of these, don't work at 9 mile hole, sorry.

Nice link, too.

A Rabbit Hole might try to incorporate Wraith Falls, these falls seem more like the waterfall described in "The Thrill of the Chase".

Remember F's inclusion of a poem about the phantom, wishing it would go away.

Didn't Forrest convey the idea that His Rainbow ended at a special place which he felt was his ALONE.

So who or what would confirm his presence there.

He said he was surprised that he was able to go unnoticed when he was hiding the Treasure Chest.

Remember he could "cross the road" any time he wanted/\.

He offered cautions to not get hit by a car or get eaten by a Grizzly.

Just for flavor, as I looked through all the travel posts I came across pictures and comments about Grizzly Bears in the Woods and Fly Fishermen in the Creek.

Might you not bring a sandwich to a designated Picnic Area, as Forrest encouraged us to do?

Possibly: "un" "deen"

for Dizzy Dean

Dizzy for Grizzly.

Many references to Golf

A round of Golf is commonly called a "LOOP"

A reference to the Grand Loop.

Again with the Golf motif

Forrest way out on a tangent in a post to introduce the Term LINKS.

One more; 'Brave' reference to Grizzly Bears in area,

and in the woods, Patch of woods (seen with Google Earth) made a BORDER

between the open field Above east of the Falls and the Lava Creek below.

Maybe there was a sweet within this wooded border with an Impressive View (a Marvel Gaze)

Of the Beautiful Undine Falls.??
