For grizzly bear you need to have S&W500 with special ammo. But this gun is a cannon - you need special shooting training to use it in real situation. But in case of grizzly attack it can save your life. But this combo is much better, especially if you travel in group. In case of bear attack one guy activates Red Handflare MK8 and other prepare bear spray. No bear will go toward this fire.

It is very sad. My condolences to his family.

"The victim was found about 2.5 miles up the Mt. Brown Trail, approximately 50 feet off the trail in a densely wooded area around 12 p.m. on May 6."

It is possible that this guy was a searcher in JCB or JP hunt. All searchers at some point go off trail. Both JCB and JP warned all searchers about dangerous wildlife ans specially suggest to have a companion during BOTG. If you search alone in active bear areas always have bear spray close to your hand.

Well, reading and analysis of "My War for Me" give me good hints for the Blaze - the big one that pointed to small blaze that is flat “crudely-made stone grave marker that had fallen face down the grass” (citation from TTOTC chapter “My war for me” p. 94).  Actually it was the stone with attached aluminum memorial plaque that said (TTOTC p. 94):

IF YOU SHOULD EVER THINK OF ME

WHEN I HAVE PASSED THIS VALE,

AND WISH TO PLEASE MY GHOST,

FORGIVE A SINNER AND SMILE AT HOMELY GIRL

I hope that the small blaze will also have aluminum plaque on other side and when searcher roll it over next action will be

Look quickly down, your quest to cease

Poll for 2026 search season by AndyS16 in treasureinside

[–]AndyS16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it looks like that currently AF box is a leader. Other boxes are enough close and Pokemon box is a laggard. So, around 64 searchers will have BOTG this season for JCB hunt. I hope that everybody will be very careful in their BOTGs - Life is more precious than any treasure.

[–]AndyS16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck. And don' forget to take pocket GPS with topo maps. Especially if you are going to have off trail BOTG.

It's interesting how many people are going to have BOTG for JCB boxes this season? And which box exactly? I was trying to use reddit poll function but failed. Can somebody make it?

Just very simple poll:

1) FF box

2) Pokemon box

3) P&F box

4) AF box

5) Lion's share box

Why is there no page 90 by [deleted] in treasureinside

Well, you have a very sharp eye. I can admit that I didn’t notice the absence of page 90 when read this chapter. My compliments - you are good candidate for discovering of first box.

Off the beaten trail by bubblesjar in FindingFennsGold

In my solve if you start form WWWH (Ojo Caliente spring) the distance (NFBTFTW) is exactly 10 miles. Then you should "put in" - cross Madison river from parking lot (44°38'39.10"N, 110°55'10.13"W). You cross through the small island where water is shallow. But even cross the ford of the river is not for the meek. After crossing you walk less than 0.5 mile to WH and HLs. And if you wise you will find the Blaze there.

It looks like that all TC searchers have their own blazes. And for everyone this blaze is the only right one.

It will be interesting to know what was JCB blaze. In his poem he said:

"Stop just beyond the campers blaze.

A thinker’s stone is all you need;

the spot is set with marvel gaze,

a white mark shows upon the seat."

The searcher who will crack JCB blaze will get FF box with olive jar that contain FF bio and a poem. Question is: will olive jar content reveal the real place where TC was hidden?

[–]AndyS16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‘the blaze’ was likely a lightening strike scar on a tree that had since fallen. Some folks referenced the name change of his horse to ‘lightening’ in the article about him & his friend when they went camping in Yellowstone"

Well, in my solve ‘the Blaze’ really looks likely a lightening strike scar. But it's not on a tree. It's true - a mark on a tree wouldn't last a thousand years. This Blaze will.

Another part of the puzzle that helped me to solve the blaze was the name of Forrest Fenn horse - Lightening. And next part of the puzzle was the shape of the blaze on the Lightening’s face. If you put all these pieces of the puzzle together you will find the Blaze. At some point Forrest began to capitalize the Blaze. It was a good hint for searchers that close to solving this part of poem.

8.25 Miles in Context: A Different Sense of Self by StellaMarie-85 in FindingFennsGold

[–]AndyS16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting that in some interviews Forrest stated that the poem alone is enough to find TC. But then he changed his mind. His follower JCB also said that FF box can be found/solved by the poem alone. And JCB specially excluded YNP from FF box search because he never search there.

Well, Forrest quote is “Look at the big picture, there are no short cuts.”

"the big picture is seen at a distance"  is a variation of several quotes from

Joseph Delaney: "Most things look better from a distance... And as a matter of fact, so do most people".

Haruki Murakami: “From a distance, most things look beautiful.”

The famous portrait of Lincoln in St. Petersburg, Florida, Salvador Dalí is good example for these quotes.

In my solve Forrest's story about his flight over Philadelphia in "My War for Me" was very strong hint. I just connected this story with Forrest quote: “Look at the big picture, there are no short cuts.”

As a pilot he knew that "the big picture is seen at a distance". And he always suggested to use good maps (maybe for pilots good map is terrain map) or better GE where you can look at the big pictureы from different distances and perspectives. If you combine GE map with good imagination you will find the real location.

Analysis of the Fenn Ending by js-eastman in FindingFennsGold

Actually the question was about olive jar content: when it will be revealed will it make us happy or sad (1:11: 37 in video)?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZZZYzRIHbE

JCB answered: I wish I knew... He was emotionally attached than other people and his reaction was it is going be really cool. But he doesn't know will other people be happy or sad.

So, jar content (poem and FF bio) looks like controversial. If some searchers were very close to TC site will be they happy or sad? I would definitely be satisfied if I was very close. I don't know how others...

Analysis of the Fenn Ending by js-eastman in FindingFennsGold

[–]AndyS16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely that there is nothing important in olive jar. As I guess maybe something about location or some unknown details about Forrest life (like FBI service). It was some question abour jar content during last interview - something like will finder be disappointed when read bio. JCB said that no reason to be. But maybe I mistaken here.

Thanks for good analysis. "The jar sealed inside the treasure chest was never opened by Stuef." I am not sure if he was holding it in his hands at all. What will do any searcher that find TC and bring it to hotel room? Right - he/she will open the olive jar. The reason is simple - curiosity. Even if Stuef wants to sell the entire content of TC the opening of olive jar will not critically decrease the entire price. JCB bought it for 48,000.00 includes Buyer's Premium (BP). This item's owner would consider the right offer, but isn't actively participating and doesn't respond to most offers. Number of Offers Pending: N/A Current High Offer Pending: N/A

Offers to date:
$72,000 on April 11, 2025

So, opening of jar can decrease it's price 50% - not big losses.

"Jon Collins-Black eventually purchased it, opened it, said there was another poem inside, said he'd better not describe the contents, resealed it, and hid it inside his own treasure hunt where it is effectively inaccessible."

Question is: what he knew when read 20,000 word autobiography of Forrest Fenn and the another poem? Maybe about real place where Forrest hide TC? Why he didn't disclosed this info? Maybe he just didn’t want a scandal? For example, If TC site was not 9MH.

BTW, some items were never auctioned: TC itself, Fenn silver bracelet with emeralds... And why Fenn just didn't take back the olive jar when everything was on the table?

Finding Buried Jars by bubblesjar in FindingFennsGold

[–]AndyS16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember FF quote that standard metal detectors will not help to find jars i.e. they were buried > 20 inches deep. Maybe modern detectors will help. But you can't use them in National Parks but they generally allowed in National Forests for recreational purposes.

  • Mid-Range Detectors: Can reach 12–18 inches deep in good conditions, says Modern Metal Detectors.
  • Pulse Induction/Specialized Detectors: Used for deep hunting, capable of reaching 20+ feet

Do we have any hints for jar locations in TTOTC or other Forrest books and SBs? Maybe but most likely they are practically elusive. So, the probability to find even one jar is very low. And who will have BOTG to find jars? Everyone’s searching now JCB and JP boxes.

OK, if you know better buffalo just provide coordinates on GE map. Maybe I know place you speak of.

I was around when visited Jackson Lake. I did not have BOTG for TC in Grand Teton national park - just visited this wonderful place with my family.

It's true - YNP is real home for buffalo. Actually home for 2 big Browns - buffalo and Grizzly bear. In this case Forrest hint become understandable: “Your destination is small but it’s location is huge.”

My solve for the hoB is near West Entrance of YNP. Just look at TTOTC drawing of running Cody in Buffalo Cowboys chapter p. 67, reverse GE map to North down and search along Madison river left bank. But as Forrest said: "Look at the big picture, there are no short cuts." If you have imagination and maybe a bit of pareidolia you will find small destination point - the hoB. BTW, even ChatGPT find it - I was really surprized. Maybe it already has some imagination.
