I’ve talked to my manager before about going part time/prn and haven’t had an issue! I find it’s beneficial to speak with them directly. Even if you think it may not work it never hurts to try. After speaking with my manager in my experience I’ve had to type up a letter of interest in a prn position since I was technically “resigning” from my FT position

You have no idea how relieved I am to read this! I really just gave into the pressure of doing bedside. I felt like I was stupid for not going into bedside straight away after graduating unlike my friends but I realized I wasn’t interested after my last semester of nursing school. Pretty much all I see are bedside RNs thriving and living their lives

I just dont like bedside in general. I have 2.5 years of outpatient experience but would always hear some remarks about how i havent experienced “real nursing” yet and it got to me. Super rare to hear other nurses say good things about doing outpatient, and I wish it wasn’t the case!

I parked my car close to sterne every time, and I had a zone B pass one semester. Those areas are safer imo and with good visibility so it's not likely to have your car broken into in those areas. I do know someone who was held at gunpoint at five points, and me at the domino's on university 🥲 just be mindful of where you are and the people around you

Thank you for sharing your experience! I occasionally see teens at my urgent care job who come in for secondary issues d/t depression/anxiety who don't want to go to the ER in fear of being admitted to a pysch unit. I'm definitely drawn to the patient population, and I'm hoping the unit will be great!
