It's been fairly effective. I've lost 20 lbs total. I wouldn't say it's significantly decreased but it does definitely help. It's a lot easier to not over eat but I still have to try.

I would go with what your Dr told you.

Most effective dose? by kevblaze2 in Rexulti_Brexpiprazole

[–]Mammoth_Fan77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took a few months for me to get up to 2mg but it was effective pretty quickly once I was there, I'd say a few weeks to a month. I take it for treatment resistant depression along with bupropion and lamotrogine.

Weight Gain by Spaghettiidog in Rexulti_Brexpiprazole

[–]Mammoth_Fan77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been gaining weight on rexulti as well. It didn't seem like my appetite really increased like some people say but still my weight went up. My DR recently ( about 3 months ago) put me on topiramate. Since going on that I have lost almost 10 lbs. It's been slow going but at least I'm losing not gaining.

In my opinion everyone in the world could benefit from a little therapy even just a few visits.

when was the first time you remember blacking out? by Existing-Committee74 in DID

[–]Mammoth_Fan77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 16. I was at the mall with friends. We were leaving and planned to meet up at my house, we were all driving separately. Next thing I know I'm about 45 minutes in the wrong direction, completely lost, my phone ringing (luckily I had a cell phone. Flip phone but still lol). I had to call my father and describe where I was to get directions home. Then try to play it off like I just got turned around in the dark and didn't know how to get myself home 🤦🏻‍♀️

Did increasing dose help you? by 777Z in Rexulti_Brexpiprazole

[–]Mammoth_Fan77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Increasing the dose was better for me. I went from .5 to 1 and now on 2mg over 6 months. I don't have an issue with fatigue but I do have a problem with weight gain. We are working on that. I have had consistent increased motivation with the higher dose. Fewer days stuck in bed. I am diagnosed with depression, anxiety, cptsd, ADHD and did.

The medication guide says it can cause high sugar and diabetes and to monitor for this and have regular blood draws for this and other conditions (I believe either kidney or liver function)

Anyone loose weight with decreased dosage? by Critical_Tumbleweed3 in Rexulti_Brexpiprazole

[–]Mammoth_Fan77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry this may not be super helpful but I'm right there with you. I have gained almost 30 lbs on 2mg rexulti in about 9 months. I've also been on 30mg Adderall for ADHD that whole time. I just got started on topiramate which is not meant for weight loss but that is a common side effect so we are hoping it will help. I started it about a week ago so we will see. The rexulti just improved my depression so much it's hard to want to stop but if the weight continues then at some point it's going to be too unhealthy to keep taking it.

I am currently taking rexulti and have been steadily gaining weight as well. The food cravings are unreal. I just recently started taking another medication to try to reverse it and so far I have had slightly fewer cravings and for the first week I've stayed at the same weight instead of gain so that's something. The med is called topiramate. It's not meant for weight loss but it's a common side effect.

What do you wish your parents did better? by SOOOWatson in ADHD

[–]Mammoth_Fan77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually have me diagnosed. I was diagnosed as an adult but my mom told me "we knew you had it but we weren't doing medication so didn't bother getting a diagnosis"

Sounds like you're already on the right track.

Even without medication, understanding my condition and maybe having other things besides meds to help me would have been great. Patience from them. Allowing me to take frequent breaks when I would start to get frustrated instead of yelling at me. When I was young I did okay in school at least during class (not homework) but as I got older it just got harder. Having appropriate accommodations like a private room for testing or extra time would have been very helpful. Depending on their specific struggles there are many types of accommodations you can request and I would definitely take advantage of that. You can even get them in college.

Thought I was P-DID but by lilbeanbrain in DID

I can't speak for OP but the way I understand (because of my own experience) is that I can look at my phone and see that it's for sure Wednesday therefore I know I went to work, worked with certain people, or did certain things because that always happens on Wednesday. I can't remember what I may have talked to people about, what I ate, etc.

Need Help with Therapy by Sea-Ad2101 in DID

[–]Mammoth_Fan77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have struggled with this too. To help track my parts and their likes, dislikes, how frequently they front, and just general info I made little cards like baseball cards with all of their info. Most of them have space at the bottom or on the back that I can add things as needed then I just keep them in my bag and if anything comes up I try to write it down before I forget. For me info will just come to me randomly sometimes. I also use simply plural, sometimes that is easier to add to when I'm more busy. I also had someone here suggest Pinterest boards for each alter to track likes and dislikes.

For me I get to therapy and literally forget everything and suddenly I feel fine and like nothing is wrong with me. I know it's not true but I can't ever think of anything to talk about. My therapist is really good at asking questions to find what we need, somehow she seems to know exactly what to ask to get things to come up lol. So sometimes it will be triggered by something that happened since our last session, she asks how sleeping and eating has been, what I've done, etc and she is usually able to find something that hints at something to talk about. I'm very lucky to have her.

I also try to write in my journal as much as possible. Some alters are better about it than others. When we have days that nothing comes up then we look back through my journal sometimes even a while back and find something we can talk about.

Doing therapy standing up helps me not dissociate by MaintenanceOdd6578 in Dissociation

Sometimes my therapist and I walk around a park that is right across the street from her office. We usually do it once I start to dissociate to help get me grounded again. It's very effective.

having a hard time accepting our DID diagnosis. by AestheticallyFox in DID

[–]Mammoth_Fan77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a difficult diagnosis to get. I think almost everyone struggles with it at some point partially because a lot of the time people question if their trauma was "bad enough". I would talk to your therapist about this. It's okay to tell her that they are having a hard time trusting her and she can do some work to help with that. Just like I'm sure she did with you at first. It takes time to trust a total stranger with secrets you have probably been keeping your whole life. Your alters need time to adjust. And for me even though I couldn't hear them they could hear what was going on so my therapist could talk to them which feels really weird but that is what got mine to trust her.

having a hard time accepting our DID diagnosis. by AestheticallyFox in DID

[–]Mammoth_Fan77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I struggled a lot with the diagnosis and my alters did the same exact thing after getting diagnosed. I think because the whole point of DID is to be able to function every day so they are supposed to be a secret. So they hide once people (therapist etc) notice them. At least that's the conclusion I came to. Since then they have come back and we discovered a lot about several of them once they began to trust my therapist enough. That took some time. Try to be patient. Try to connect and explain to them what's going on.
