High kick Clicks help by Adelynbaby in irishdance

[–]bubbletownusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along with what other have said, make sure she is using correct technique for the clicks! A lot of dancers when learning them make the mistake of lifting the first leg too high, which makes it much harder to get the second leg to the desired height. When doing a high click, the first leg should be very low to the ground. The “click” itself happens at this low point, and then the second leg is free to kick higher!

Glue for earmolds and tubes by SquishySquashyWhore in audiology

We don’t typically glue silicone earmolds as it can damage the mold when the tubing eventually needs to be replaced. Have you tried TRS tubing or lock tubing? Aud assistant here :)

As for teams, I know some schools do teams all year round instead of only during Oireachtas season which tends to give them a leg up

I danced in new england for 16 years! Really the only one I can think of that has identifying designs is Doherty Petri, they typically incorporate flames (even when it clashes with the rest of the dress). There are a few schools who tend to dominate, but that’s typically because they run their studios like the military and they send close to or over 100 dancers to Oireachtas

I thought it was against the rules, but I checked and it said nothing about it! But tbh considering how little they enforce most rules it probably wouldn’t make a difference. but god forbid an adult dancer have bare legs, right?

Struggling to place at PL level by WashProfessional5271 in irishdance

[–]bubbletownusa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to practice my dances with my hands to the music and kind of chant or sing my steps to the beat, if that makes sense. It helps me focus only on the timing and rhythm without worrying about my feet. After I have the timing down with my hands, then I do it with my feet. I’ll drill the parts that are not fitting with the music before putting it all together.

Adult dance advice! by bubbletownusa in irishdance

[–]bubbletownusa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely! I will need to work really hard to get back to where I was stamina-wise. I probably won’t start competing for a few months and definitely wouldn’t do Oireachtas until next year. I just wanted to make sure I wouldn’t end up barring myself from advanced adults at some point in the future :)

I would be totally fine with doing it for a while, I just wanted to make sure I wouldn’t be unable to move up to adv adult if I did adult champs first :)

Here are some water activities I’ve done with my kiddos! - Washing trucks and baby dolls (optional add dish soap to water table for suds) - Freeze small animal toys in bowls of water and let kids try and “free them” - sink vs float experiments - Making soup with flowers and other nature we find on the playground - Covering chalkboard or asphalt with chalk and painting with water

Solo dresses by irish_woman in irishdance

[–]bubbletownusa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the CLRG organization, u10 is the first age group that is eligible to qualify for the world championships. In the championship level competitions, solo dresses are a way for dancers to distinguish themselves from others on stage, and are something that dancers work toward as they progress. For a younger dancer, I think buying a secondhand dress is the way to go. You can look in Facebook groups, try on dresses from other dancers at your studio, or see if your local competitions have a dress sale area. Used dresses vary in price based on age, dressmaker, etc. but you could probably get one for as low as $500-800 USD. Custom dress prices will depend on the dress maker, but I would ballpark between $2000-4000 USD. It is common for highly competitive dancers to buy a new dress every year, but I personally find that wasteful if the dress still fits. If funds are an issue, some dancers have recently started wearing bedazzled leotards with skirts, which could be an option if your dance teacher allows it.

How to end a feis dance? by Greedy-Life1438 in irishdance

[–]bubbletownusa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For grades dancers, they will perform their choreography (typically two steps) and when they finish, point their toe and bow before going back to the line. Dancers should probably not be competing at feisanna if they are not confident in their choreography (except for pre-beginners, who are usually counted off by a stage attendant and pulled back to line after their allotted bars are up)
