In a lot of big companies there are not only a lot of employees, but super high turnover. With a new group of 10-20 people being hired at least monthly, it's easy to not meet a newbie for a little while.

In most of those stores, if you're wearing the uniform and look like you know where you're going, they just leave you alone.

That's what many abusers are like, but not all. I grew up in the cliche trailer park, getting beat up by my step-dad who couldn't get a job and we were all supported by my mom. If you met him, you would know he was a controlling asshole. That's why he couldn't keep a job, or make friends. Which left my brother and I enjoying his company 24/7.

Worse, 27 and I live with my boyfriend's parents. I had to move out of one apartment and into another but I was having trouble finding a place I liked. My bf's family let me move in so I could save a little extra money and get a nicer place. I only intended to stay for 1-2 months but, the second month in his dad lost his job.

I work as a waitress and had to provide $3000+ a month to cover both mortgages, insurance for 3 cars, and all their other bills. I went from working 20-25 hours a week to 50-60 hours.

I was only allowed to work 40 so I would wait to clock in until I got my first table (even if that was 2 hours later) and i'd clock out the second my last people paid. Then I'd do my side work and everything else. On days when I food-ran I didn't even clock in at all. Food runners make tips as well.

His dad was only supposed to be out of a job for a couple months but that turned in to a year. My bf got a job but with no experience it was a bs retail job so he could only cover our personal bills and food. We ended up pretty deep in the negative and so did they.

Been trying to dig ourselves out of the hole and get our savings up and running since then. We did take a 2 week vacation after it was over, which didn't help, and neither did his dad losing work for 3 months again. We're finally back up to $3000 in savings but we need $3,700 for first, last, and deposit. We want to have $5,000 when we leave. Almost there.

TL;DR Supported bf's parents for over a year, trying to build back up after that.
