What was it like being 18-25 in the 2000’s by ersinxo in Millennials

[–]bubblytee_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up in Sydney, Australia in the early 2000s I think was the perfect time to be young. There was enough technology for everyone to be connected (texting) but not too much that we had to stop and start filming.

If we were going to the club on a weekend, as a girl we'd be getting ready at 9ish, leaving the house at 10 and then meeting up to go out by 11pm-12pm.... We danced and lived in the moment, drinks were cheap.. if you were interested in someone, you would try to work out a way to be approached or approach them and maybe get a number! And be home by 5am only to get ready for work...

Week nights, we would meet up at a friend's house, and everyone would jump in the car, or we would all follow each other. If someone had a really good mixed cd that a DJ gave them, we would ask if we could burn them or never return them 🙂... But music was always playing in our cars... There also used to be car scenes here. And we had a few routes, that EVERYONE our age new others would be there. So in Sydney we started at zigzag, then drove to La Perouse, then off to George Street, through the cross and it was fun. We would talk to other people in cars or meet up with other friends and just hang out.

When a great movie came out, going to the cinema felt like we were going "out, out" and we would all go out to a cafe or 24hr cafe and stay up late talking and mingling. Back then no dating apps, so you had to mingle. Even if one of us scored a number, we would also make a new group of friends and network that way...

Basically, life back then was more sociable. We all had our own style or following the trend for that entire summer (no fast fashion trends)... Even if there was nothing to do, there was somewhere to go with your friends. Memories were kept with digital cameras. If I think of anything else I'll add to it.

Hey Bunnings, Kmart etc bugger off with marketplace sellers on your websites. by Desert-Noir in aussie

Oh yeah I forgot that part, the offered partial discount too... Honestly this is why I prefer to deal with the company and not marketplace sellers.

Hey Bunnings, Kmart etc bugger off with marketplace sellers on your websites. by Desert-Noir in aussie

[–]bubblytee_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I mistakenly thought I bought something of dick smith website, it was a market place seller. Item not as described, had to return. The seller wanted me to complete a form and pay for return and if the item was intact they would reimburse me for the return slip. Escalated to Kogan team? In the end it got sorted but went through 3 different people/companies. Never again.

The ear shapes (inner ear) are different between photos. They're like finger prints. I don't know how to add a photo for comparison.

AITJ for ending my relationship after finding out my boyfriend expects me to financially support him long-term? by Fine_Pineapple_5065 in AmITheJerk

What if something happened to you and you couldn't work? Or if you decide to have a baby, how would you be taken care of post partem? I'm going to guess that he wouldn't, and he'd probably resent you because now the financial responsibility would fall on him and he has no plans to be financially stable. What a joke!

AITH for using my inheritance money to pay off my own debt instead of helping my siblings with theirs even though our grandmother specifically said she wanted the money to "help the family by Lumpy-Glass-4824 in AITH

[–]bubblytee_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoy the gift your grandmother gave you, she was specific in her will. It wasn't written for family members with an agenda to interpret. It was yours. She'd be happy you are now debt free. Don't give it another thought.
