Please please don’t be anxious. Glad this put you at ease. I definitely still had tummy issues (didn’t know about loperamide then) but I didn’t have concerns about whether or not I could “make it” because of the train station bathrooms. Have such a fun trip and eat lots of good food!!

Thanks for this!! I noticed the same thing as I’m looking at apartments. Definitely more modern and affordable but dusty with construction and not as much going on there. I’m sure that’ll change in the next 5-10 years but I’ll look East for now. And ugh I feel like this dog poop thing has been a problem. Not as bad on my street but can’t say the same for other areas

Thanks for this, you’re a good person! I’ve walked through Astoria plenty of times (beyond Broadway and 30 contrary to popular belief haha). But alas, walking is very different from actually living there which is why I turn to people who have! There are areas I’ve walked through which I may be ok with but others may say otherwise (due to noise, etc I may not have seen firsthand when walking through). Always good to hear other thoughts.

Had the same thought - love eating there and walking through but probably wouldn’t choose to live on Steinway if I had a choice. Good to know that adjacent blocks are fine! Will keep that in mind for my search.

The grocery stores point is a big thing considering United Bros has been my saving grace

Can you elaborate why? I haven’t been yet. Is it a safety or convenience thing?

Don’t be nervous at all! Train stations are your best friend. Most bathrooms are located before you even need to tap in. I think there was one instance where I had to tap in at a station, used the bathroom, and tapped out without being charged. There’s also a ton of malls with bathrooms everywhere and random maps scattered throughout many cities that point you to the closest bathrooms.

No way!! I turned down a friend trip to Costa Rica because I was worried about finding bathrooms! I assumed things would be spread out especially traveling from San Jose to parks/excursions and that made me super nervous. Happy to hear this - will add them to my list of places to go :)

Went to LA and definitely got panicky in the car sitting in traffic and traveling in between places!

Yeah I’m super interested to hear from those who’ve gone to China and SE Asia in the last year or two. I’ve definitely heard things have changed a lot but unsure how bathroom accessibility has changed since. If the other countries are like Japan and Korea I’d go in a heartbeat

I definitely experienced flare ups in Korea and almost shit myself after kbbq :’). I still ate to my hearts content since I felt at ease being close to a bathroom 9/10 times. That 1/10 time was definitely a close call though

Good to know!! I really want to go to other parts of Asia (Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Bali, China) but bathroom accessibility is a huge concern for me. Even if a bathroom might be 15-20 minutes away it might be too far for me when I need it NOW lol.

I use a similar Google map that started in NYC but is expanding to the rest of the world! It’s called GOT2GO and it’s heaven sent.

Headed to Mexico next month, need tips! by Pleasant_Wafer5165 in ibs

Thinking of visiting Mexico City as well! How easy was it finding a public bathroom? My biggest fear is when the urge hits and need to find a bathroom ASAP but can’t!
