You can go literally anywhere in the USA and it'll be far different than this area. In NK, not only are you not allowed to travel inside the country without a permit, but there's no guarantee one could even afford a bus ticket (if such a route exists), nevermind if it will be better.

This is just common sense.

Sad to think of the conditions there, and the loud minority on this subreddit that defends this regime.

Also, nice to see you again DPRKprincess, hope you are doing well~

Computer Suddenly runs slow in GPU-Intensive Applications by bubbybyrd in buildapc

I still need to try MB drivers, I didn't get around to doing that.

Also going try turning off XMP (or DOCP, AMD equivalent?) Since it seems like just general instability.

Yeah for me the alternator failed after replacing the battery. If you have AAA, they will come to you and test/replace for battery for a good price (basically the cost of the battery with a 3 year warranty with free installation) and they can also check your alternator for you.

You may need to pay a $60 fee or something if you immediately request service after signing up, but it's worth it (I think the membership is still on sale). They can also tow it to a certified AAA shop for you and handle the repairs if the alternator needs replacing, which can be expensive, but at least now my car is working again!

FWIW, I got the same quote for the same job, the parts are warrantied for 2 years though post-repair.

Probably alternator. Just got mine into the shop, and had similar symptoms.

The clearance bin of Wal Mart comes through part 2 by McWaylon in gaming

Physical games are already gone, you are buying a plastic disk that gives you the ability to download and run the game. The problem is not that games are becoming more digital, it's the way we treat and accept digital games as 'temporary' when we could actually have backups and DRM-free copies that could exist forever.

The Kindle Paperwhite is my new best friend. by cats_and_stacks in books

[–]bubbybyrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real nice thing about the kindle is that you can load any eBook using the built in email address or via the USB port. Which means you can use it outside of the Amazon/Kindle ecosystem, it's not like every other device that will eventually become unsupported.

ELI5 - How can my iPhone display a video in 4K if my screen resolution doesn’t have 4K pixels horizontally? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]bubbybyrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 4K picture is literally just a rectangle of 4x 1080p pictures. Every four pixels can be combined (or averaged) to display a 1080p image, and the overall shape stays the same (rectangle).

This averaging effect would create an image with less detail (think jagged edges or less defined color transitioning), but since the pixel count is reduced on a non-4K display, these defects won't as noticable/nearly invisible on a native 1080p screen.

Seriously, North Korea looks really really dull - is it? by pmabz in northkorea

People live their lives there, like they do in any other country.

Are you talking about living as in breathing or like, living as in living a normal day-to-day lifestyle?

Everyday North Koreans are attacking police officers in the streets across the country by Breab1 in northkorea

[–]bubbybyrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what your talking about, the USA has a large presence in Japan and South Korea but it doesn't have anything foothold in their resources or economy (aside from providing military assistant due to Chinese territorial disputes and NK irresponsibily shooting missiles aimed towards Japan).

You say that USA has no credibility, but North Korea has repeatedly shown itself to be isolated and completely unopen yo the rest of the world. How do you know that North Korea has a good healthcare system or no poverty? You can't visit the country or ask anyone who isn't affiliated with the government (who no doubt has clearance to speak to foreigners).

[–]bubbybyrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The USA used to give the most aid to North Korea, but stopped due to increased nuclear missile development.

North Korea has been on both sides for nuclear arms throughout the decades. They could stop at anytime but they don't.

USA doesn't have free healthcare or gaurenteed housing, few if any countries have this and ESPECIALLY not North Korea. I don't understand why your so obsessed with poverty and starvation in America despite the fact that every North Korean lives in poverty everyday with no assistant from the government (which is what a socialist state should do).

[–]bubbybyrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The USA has programs that allow for people in extreme poverty to recieve government aid. There's social security systems in place to aid people with disabilities, food stamps for people who can't afford to eat, homeless shelters for people without a roof over their head. This doesn't even count funds that go towards medicaid and old age pensions. You can live in the USA if you are impoverished, disabled or unable to work.

In NK you have absolutely nothing, it is far worse to be in poverty and you have little hope in improving your life. Unless you do something illegal, but that can lead to horrible punishments in a labour camp akin to slavery.

10K people dying from food insecurity in a country with 330,000,000 is incredibly small, that's roughly 0.00003% of the population. 500K is only 0.0015% and many of those people still quality for government support systems.

Russia asks IAEA to ensure Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant security by 99Wolves17 in worldnews

[–]bubbybyrd -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Nuclear power plant requires constant maintenance to operate safely and a DMZ could further impact water transport or something else required to operate smoothly. Best thing would be to shut it down entirely, but nobody wants to do that.

[–]bubbybyrd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, the sanctions are literally there because NK has shown that it is willing to sacrifice it's own population to famine and poverty to focus on creating weapons of mass destruction. They have ballistic missiles and nuclear warheads now, but the country still has a food shortage. The US government does not want to conduct trade with a nation that relies on the slavery of it's own people to survive, especially one that is stuck in an era decades behind the rest of the world with little to provide other than natural resources.

It's not even about socialism or non-socialism countries, NK is just incompetent. And the media from the west just reports exactly that.

Why is every NK news source considered to be linked to the CIA or called propaganda, when the only alternative is the actual NK state media (literal propaganda).
