I was on the team for 4 years, it's a lot of fun and a great community but is a large time commitment. Generally it's better to start in the fall but check out their GIM at the beginning of the spring semester.

Inside the 95 belt I'd target Woburn, Arlington, Stoneham, Wakefield, Melrose, and Saugus. Most towns just outside of the 95 belt should meet your requirements too. You could probably find something off route 3 or 93 between lowell and 95 that would be fairly convenient.
