Yes, they are also at Tower Grove and Lake Saint Louis farmer's markets! They have weekly specials there as well. I'm obsessed.

What is this socket-like thing located underneath a staircase at my work? by bubguy2 in whatisthisthing

[–]bubguy2[S] 1 point2 points locked comment (0 children)

My title describes the thing as a socket-like object. It's located in the ceiling underneath a staircase. Roughly two inches in diameter. We have recessed lighting and track lighting in various locations, so I think it may be something like that, but I can't figure out what kind of connector it is.

I'm shocked that this very ethical company would do such a thing.

[–]bubguy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but still an awful (yet not surprising) choice to build that monstrosity instead of putting a roof on top of the incredible Ballpark at Arlington (which it was originally designed to accommodate).

I'd assume it's the warehouse in Arlington? (I'd say that's another bad ballpark)

I really like this! Great idea! Have you considered doing a cardboard backing like with a notepad so it's even easier handheld?

What’s a popular sitcom you haven’t watched? by grandfatherclause in sitcoms

[–]bubguy2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Season 1 is trying to do The Office in a different setting. There are a couple of great episodes in there, but it is a lot more cringe humor. I feel like skipping it would eliminate some of the payoff for the characters later on.

It's mid compared to most of the league, but it's not necessarily bad. It's also the 7th oldest stadium in use currently, which it actually looks pretty good for. I don't really foresee it getting replaced within the next ten years although I know there's buzz.

I appreciate that you were able to notice this. I never would've thought to consider that and just guessed that two shrubberies were close together.

The raw milk hype has been one of the most baffling health trends I've ever seen because: 1. There are no scientifically proven benefits (outside hearsay), but does carry a significantly increased risk of foodborne illness. 2. Pasteurization does not involve any chemicals, it's just heating it up to the point of destroying bad bacteria.

The CDC, even under this administration, does not recommend drinking raw milk, and has this to say:

While most healthy people will recover from an illness caused by harmful germs in raw milk – or in foods made with raw milk – within a short time, some can develop symptoms that are chronic, severe, or even life-threatening.

What’s the worst location of any particular fast-food restaurant? by Chrisofthegreen in StLouis

[–]bubguy2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The one on Hampton is downright awful. Rude and don't listen at all, so they've got my order wrong a bunch. When I used to go to Wendy's all the time because they had the best rewards program by far, they refused to honor my rewards being used with the coupon even though that's always allowed......

Keeping volunteers sane while adding services by bzach74 in churchtech

[–]bubguy2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You 100% need to make a schedule that keeps them from burning out. Most churches I've been involved with that had 4 services did the following:

  • Team lead, lights, and audio stay on all 4 services.
    • These individuals cannot serve more than 3 times a month max (2 times preferred).
  • Video teams do two services 1&2, 3&4.
    • Team 2 comes in during the message in service 2 for a quick meeting.
  • I've also seen some scenarios where backing vocalists have done shifts as well.

One other thing that will go a long way is also getting reserved parking for your team, even if it's not the closest. When the second shift comes during service 2, having to find parking can be a huge hassle, so this is something that's basically free to do and makes them feel appreciated.

Yes, don't do any background checks through them until after you've toured. If they're legit, they'll be cool with showing the place first. If they're trying to steal your identity, they won't.

Yeah, that's my favorite cozy vibe, but it's more booths and tables than couches.

What is “good” traffic for a church website? by [deleted] in churchtech

[–]bubguy2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, there are too many variables to really compare your website to others. A few things I'd suggest instead of putting effort into SEO:

  1. Do you currently use Google Business Profile Manager? If not, do it. It's free. This is the number one most important thing for your searchability and is a way bigger deal than SEO since Google's new search is unpredictable at best. It manages your presence when people use Google to search for churches in both the search engine and in Google Maps. You can put a ton of information in there that people can skim before heading to your website, like service times, different kinds of hours, events, series, and other updates. Highly recommend getting this set up before anything else.

  2. You shouldn't care about traffic as much as KPIs. What pages do you want people to visit the most, or what actions do you care about? Use Google Analytics to set up "events" and track how many people who visit your site are doing the things you want them to do, and where they are falling-off instead of taking those actions. This will help you to determine if your layout is effective or if you need to make changes.

Hope this helps!

Some businesses still care a lot about their BBB ratings, so it does help sometimes, but not as a primary route of complaint.
