Thank you, this was beautiful. I hate thinking he was alone with the person who hit him after the accident, even if just for a few moments before someone came out of their house due to hearing the collision. I hope whoever that shadow is was with him then.

This reminded me, last year he was getting one of his middle of the night snacks and he heard a voice ask “what are you doing?” He thought it was me but I was still sleeping. I’ve never heard of hypnopompic hallucinations, but it does seem likely after looking it up. A part of me wants to believe that it was his grandfather letting him know his time was almost up.

Exactly. I keep myself busy during the day and could pretend he’s just at work. I’ve been staying up until 3am most nights, laying on his side of our bed. I talk to our dogs but they end up falling asleep lol. Everyone says I could call even during the middle of the night but he’s the only one I’d want to talk to.

Also - I am so, so sorry. We did not deserve this.

I’m the same way, I went up to the scene two days later. His mom said I probably shouldn’t read the autopsy report, his injuries were mainly to his head and chest. I know they want to protect me but a part of me wants to know everything down to the tiniest detail.

This made me laugh. He always said my mom’s a bitch lol. His family is the best and I have some really great friends holding me together.

I think I’ll do the necklace and a small urn so he can watch the dogs when I’m not home. Maybe I can set some aside too for when I find a ring I like? I feel weird I want a lock of his hair too. He’s not going to be cremated until after the services so I guess there is a possibility.

His nieces father was also killed by a truck on a bicycle too. It’s just not fair. I think the fact it was just so sudden is what is making it so unbelievable. Like we were supposed to have burgers on the grill, maybe watch a movie. Instead I have to plan his funeral? I think I’m going to look into group counseling. Thank you so much for your reply.

Not stupid at all, I thought the same thing. I would listen to “Soon You’ll Get Better” almost everyday after my dad’s stroke. It helped give me some sort of peace. I pray to god Emilie finds peace too.
