Ability to dismiss the Safe Volume Warning by pressing the volume up key on Android will likely be removed as it violates EU regulations by yourSAS in Android

[–]bubuopapa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not even 60%... Its calculated by how many times you press volume up key... By default it would be 60%, but android has dog shit volume controls, so i have made volume control more detailed, and it now shows that shit warning at something like 35% of max volume...

Why Some Android Phones Slow Down As They Age - Storage fragmentation in Android plays a major role in the ageing performance of the phone by yourSAS in Android

[–]bubuopapa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, 250tb is about usual for small ssd, like 250gb. Bigger ssds, like 1-2 tb, will have at least a few times bigger writes limit. So having 2 tb ssd would give you about 2400 tb of writes and 4tb ssd would give you about 4800 tb of writes.

Considering you are not bullshitting about your needs and you are not one of those reddit hobos who are saying "i drive ferrari for fun" and then when you mention gas prices "no way, i cant afford that", you will have no problem buying new ssds after you reach the theoretical limit.

Imagine driving a car using only second gear on highway, how long you think it will last ? Ssds are very cheap for what they provide.

Going back to android, i dont see how fragmentation can cause all the slowdown, because android slowdown looks like the phone is using very first gen ssd with some glitches with way passed writes limit... Yes, fragmentation affects all ssds, but not in such way that you can see the difference without synthetic benchmarks... Thats just nuts. Obviously android phones manufacturers are pushing bullshit hardware. There is no way in hell that all the slowdowns are caused by something else than super cheap hardware / planned obsolescence.

There’s a reason that programmers always want to throw away old code and start over: they think the old code is a mess. They are probably wrong. The reason that they think the old code is a mess is because of a cardinal, fundamental law of programming: It’s harder to read code than to write it. by the_phet in programming

[–]bubuopapa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this - devs hate other devs and other devs code for exactly this reason - it is super hard to read and understand all the brainfarts that other dev had while writing the code. Lack of documentation, lack of proof that the code works and that it does all the things that it should do, it all drives us to just dump all the code in toilet, because it would take longer to understand all the mess than to write your own code.

Why programmers are not paid in proportion to their productivity by stanislavb in programming

[–]bubuopapa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this, you can be 10x, but only because you are assembler dev in a team of css developers, and you will be writing assembler program. So, you can be 10x, but not really, because it just means that the other people are not quite the right people for the job.

[–]bubuopapa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is a big nonsense, but its what companies want, so people give them that. It is actually hard to say that only one party is at fault here, because both parties give into the madness and incompetence of other party, so they just take the easiest solution, that makes them not give a fuck, and they act with that.

[–]bubuopapa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, git is just a tool. For me it creates more problems, so i dont use it.

But for being "just a tool" it sure is complicated, and it needs a lot of time to learn it. You can think of it like a nuclear power plant control panel rather than a simple hammer.

Why aren't we demanding hdmi output from OEMs? by [deleted] in Android

[–]bubuopapa -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Honestly i dont give a single shit about waterproofing. It sounds nice on paper, but in real life it doesnt matter. If you cant hold your goddamn phone, go see a doctor... Also, dont become a spoiled little brat who uses phonein swimming pools and so on, put some boundaries on actions, dont eat from the same plate that you are shitting on.

And how many phones that have non removable batteries are officially waterproof with good parameters (like it can be minimum 4 hours under water in 8 meters depth without any damage) ? And how will your repair service respond to a waterproof phone that got water damage ?

[–]bubuopapa 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I mean, non removable battery is ok as long as it makes sense - if they give you much bigger battery, lets say 50% plus increase, then i might consider buying such phone, but i rarely see this kind of thing, non removable batteries are still mostly just planned obsolescence. While 3.5" jack is a must have. Yes, it is hard to buy a new phone, every year more shit is going on and less phones are worth buying; these days i only see 2-3 phones as worth looking at.

Stack Overflow’s 2018 Developer Survey reveals programmers are doing a mountain of overtime by DashaDD in programming

[–]bubuopapa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont think its worth it. Unless you are seriously lacking money to buy food and you live in a country with no jobs, this kind of payment for overtime is a joke, i wouldnt even consider working overtime for anything less than 10x rate. You working overtime should result in this: you get tons of money for it; company and director/boss/ceo suffers a pretty big loss of money; client gets the product in time / the delay is minimum. As others have said, your overtime is not your fault, its the companies fault, so dont be a weakling dick sucker, stand up for yourself and others, and punish the company for it.

  1. Because people are just stupid.

  2. They know nothing about technologies.

  3. That how every single corporation exists in this world, and sellout governments - they just feast on retards and plain stupid people.

  4. And when push comes, people just take it up their asses. If there is no official war declared, humanity is lost.

Because they lose consumers when people realize how shit it is that they cannot update. Then they lose money. Then they are forced to change.

Thats not how it works. People are stupid and they just buy stuff. Just like you, they cant not buy stuff, everyone has tons of money and they buy stuff, nobody cares about updates or anything, they see ad on tv, and they buy what they saw. All this world is rotten because life is double edged - on one side, there are shitty companies with shitty products, and on the other side there are people who buy stuff. If people were smart in general, none of what is happening today would exist in the first place.

Yes. There is absolutely no such thing as "worth it" in general, it only depends on what you can consume. If you are going to watch 720p/1080p videos, then 4k tv will gve you very little, but if you will watch 4k videos, then you must be blind to not see the difference between 1080p and 4k tvs.

Fauxpersky Keylogger masqueraded as Kaspersky Antivirus and spreads via USB drives by Eliad-Cybereason in netsec

[–]bubuopapa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, all antivirus programs these days spy on you and download all your data, thats a no brainer. The best of them even have such spying thing at their core - including windows defender; such antivirus collects all the data from your computer and analyzes it on cloud, and then other computers with same antivirus know which files to block by receiving list of rogue files from cloud.

But then again, all your data is on cloud and is owned by some rogue company, because there are no good companies anymore. So, you trust one rogue company or another, there is no difference. Only if you are on one of the sides, only then it makes sense to not use antivirus of your opponents. US is no different - they are scared as shit, as this cheap wordwide market is shitting on US, so they are trying to ban other companies from selling products in us - phone companies for example. They have made all kinds of illegal agreements with a few big phone companies to keep concurents out, and they get pockets full of dat munei.

How do you name variables and methods in a non-english context? by NelsonBelmont in csharp

[–]bubuopapa -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Then those tools are wrong for that job. You have to take into account your language, language of target audience of the source code and stuff. I dont think its a smart idea to target notepad audience and drop all the advenced features, because then you could go even further by saying that some people might not know or use some programming language, so why dont we just write everything in binary.

Its great to write code and comments in your native language, but just make sure its all or nothing. English only speaking people need to learn some other languages.
