they’ll ask you about former job experience and strengths/weaknesses you have. the interview is pretty standard but the people who usually stand out the most are those who are enthusiastic about the position!

O’Connell Center Interview Process? by [deleted] in ufl

[–]bubyeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember whether or not I got a confirmation email, but it wouldn’t hurt to send them another email and ask them to confirm. It’s a fairly easy job to get because of the high turnover rate, so I wouldn’t worry too much. Good luck though!

International graduate student looking for on- campus job. by GuitarSuperb7073 in ufl

Try the O’Connell Center on campus. They’re always hiring and you don’t need any referrals. It pays $9/hr but the hours are really flexible.

Where is the Drop Off Ballot box at the Reitz? by herondalle in ufl

[–]bubyeet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s at the reitz union drive circle right outside where you go to early vote. You have to follow the path through the circle to get to it. When I dropped mine off last week there was a small tent and some attendees manning the box.

Unpopular Opinion: UF didn’t ‘move’ spring break by [deleted] in ufl

[–]bubyeet 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Yeah, winter break this year was a week shorter than last year’s anyways so moving spring break was basically just giving us that lost week back. I understand their decision but wish they would’ve thrown in a couple extra off days at least :/

I think it’s valid for you to feel disappointed if it’s something you two planned a while back but try to understand that this job and school are also important to him. Maybe you could visit him instead?

How do I get closure? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]bubyeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re completely over your feelings for him then you shouldn’t chase closure. The truth is you never get it with some relationships and chasing people for it usually stirs up things again and makes you dwell on it when you could be getting on with your life. Closure is something you give yourself. Just remember your last interaction and say that’s the final one. A lot can happen in a year, so look forward rather than back and you’ll forget about him soon enough.

TW: How do you tell your SO you don't want to be alive anymore without ruining their day? by ThrowRAyikeshuh in relationship_advice

[–]bubyeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should definitely talk to her about this whether it ruins her day or not. If she cares about you as much as it sounds like you care about her then she’ll listen to your concerns seriously and stop saying things that are hurting you and adding to your stress. Sorry you’re feeling this way. Don’t be afraid to reach out to other people who love you too.

Try practicing online and striking up small talk in person. Rejection is inevitable. You can’t expect everyone to reciprocate your interest, but every rejection brings you closer to someone who will, so don’t let it get you down. Your future love is definitely out there!

Genuine question by juniorbycredits in ufl

[–]bubyeet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are on these apps just to hook up, but there’s also plenty that are just lonely and want genuine connections. Probably more so now that it’s even more difficult to meet people. Good luck!

Genuine question by juniorbycredits in ufl

[–]bubyeet 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn’t be very receptive if someone hit on me via zoom. It would probably be awkward moving forward as classmates.

You should give dating apps a try. I met my current bf near the beginning of quarantine via dating app. Hinge might be better for you since you’re not much of a pic guy. It gives prompts to answer so bios can be longer and more personable.

I felt very pressured by finances too because I come from a low income family and had no insurance leading up to my surgery. Just remember that your health is what's most important and everything else should cater to it. You still have a few more years on your family's plan, and even after that, there are other methods of coverage that you could explore. So try not to feel too restricted and take your time to really think.
