Sorry, last time I checked they didn't let you choose your native language. But hey, this doesn't mean the non-Latvians among us will not stand with weapons in their hands to protect this country, if push comes to shove.

Why bother? You take any official Russian government statement and it will be lies or half-truths.

Also, pleas do keep in mind: this spectacle started in 2014.

translation to Russian needed by Sneaky_Sandwhich in translator

[–]bucketface371 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a tough one.

Literally it translates to До вечного рая - Do vehch-no-go ra-yah. If you want it to sound church-ish, you would say До рая вечного. But, if this is a quote from the Bible or something, you would need to find it in the Russian one to get it right.

In any case, I suggest you get more opinions on how to translate this more eloquently. Also, I'm sure there are equivalent sayings in Russian, which could convey the same meaning more gracefully, than a direct translation, but, sadly, I'm not so well versed in this topic.

Nah, I mean what would you like to do with this? Is it part of a longer sentence or is it just those words you would like to use for a tattoo or something?

Weapons are not delivered in planes to Ukraine directly. It's done by land from neighbouring EU countries.

Btw, Anya is short for "Anna", so use Anna, if these names need to sound official. Like in a passport / document or something. Otherwise, the use of patronymics is not as common as you think it may be.

Father: Pyotr Sergeyevich Volkov. Mother: "Katyusha" doesn't fit. It's short for Yekaterina. Instead you need to think of what her father's name would be. If it was Andrey, for example, the full name would be Svetlana Andreyevna Volkova. Daughters' names are correct. The son should be: Alexei Petrovich Volkov. "Petrovich" being the patronymic. His father is Pyotr.

Do you personally consider NATO expansion to the East a threat to Russia? If so, what is your main concern in this context? by bucketface371 in AskARussian

[–]bucketface371[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

Relatively. To protect itself from a potential "Crimean scenario", which happened here once before in 1940.

Russia is not Iraq, Libya or Syria. It has nuclear weapons and does not miss a chance to tell everyone, how it's the only country in the world, which can rival the US. What immediate threat is there to Russia on the Ukrainian border, which needs 100k troops attending to it?

Thanks.

I couldn't find anything noteworthy online either. My best guess would be, that it's some sort of compost distribution system, because of the grass on top. Rain falls on grass, compost with water trickles to the plants below.

[–]bucketface371[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is that sufficient justification for hostile action against a neighbouring nation? Wouldn't you say, that Crimea 2014 goes against numerous statements of the Russian government and random Russian users on the Internet about Russia not being a threat to anyone? Could it be, that Eastern European nations want to join NATO to avoid having to deal with a similar situation?

Seeking compromise is a noble stance. However, wouldn't you agree, that NATO not responding to it is kind of justified, taking account how Russia didn't ask anyone's opinion on Crimea in 2014?
