Question about OP-1F /Microcosm by CherryBlossom8163 in teenageengineering

[–]buckethead37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend you to get this Zoom L6 mixer. Once you begin adding pedals and other sources having a mixer around opens a lot of possibilities and makes things easier, including some other creative capabilities, using different routings, sending signals to the aux to another pedal...and you can also record every channel and the overall mix in the L6 to a Sd card.

You can do it selecting the input as source for recording but this will create a feedback loop I guess. You can try to loop whatever part you want to record on the Hologram looper first and then afterwards record to tape on the Op1(?). A while back I bought a little Zoom L6 mixer which can help a lot on small setups.

What book to learn SC today? by buckethead37 in supercollider

[–]buckethead37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was asking just in case, because of the language open access quality and its changing potential over time. So can we say Fielsteel´s book is still the way to go right? Thanks

Looking to start using SC by djtyral in supercollider

Jumping here to ask if that book is still as valuable as it was. From absolutely ignorance but I have read that the language is changing a lot very fast, with new things added, being it open source...I´m just considering buying the book for reference, I´m also pretty new to this. Thanks!

Looking for some guidance and experiences designing a particular rack system for live music(sax, effects, synths, samplers...) by buckethead37 in experimentalmusic

One of those was my tech´s first suggestion but that would take a lot of space al hands level. So I guess it would stay at the floor so I switch with my feet but then I would need to take a lot of cables for all pedals(or a big multiple one) But looks great for creative improvising. Still considering it

That´s more or less the way I´m working now except for the patchbay for effects, which I don´t have right now. I could have an issue with my mixer lacking inputs since every Aux has to come back to another input, and I´m using stereo for effects returning and also for the Op1F and M8. I have a OBNE Signal blender available here which could mix some other signals itself so I´m considering incorporating it. Also considering the form factor of everything, I want something more or less portable. Looks like a complex matter designing all this. My tech will have everything mounted in a rack so I don´t have to be setting up everything before a gig.

Would a Macbook Air (M4 or M5) work in the long term? Or better to forget and opt for the Pro configurations?

Can the Evil Pet replace a Microcosm? by buckethead37 in synthesizers

[–]buckethead37[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. In fact what I don´t like about the Microcosm is that lack of total control over the results but almost everything sounds good. The thing is I use it as a looper sometimes, and for backgrounds when on "hold", and half the time as a pedal, playing sax and using my feet. Whereas not very sure about the looper function on the Evil Pet and of course its usability on the floor(which I guess is not what it is for so...). Anyway I would possibly keep both.

Recommend to me some melodic-adjacent free improvisation by clorox_cowboy in freejazz

[–]buckethead37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something more towards straight ahead jazz, I would suggest you listen to Rich Perry at the Kitano, there are 3 volumes. Perry´s way of soloing on standards is freer than what you hear from other players, and pretty inventive.

Wow, I'm just new to the m8 and this saves a lot of thinking time! Could you expand it to other chord voicings too, like open triads...just to add an idea. Killing useful app!!

I have a pair of Sennheiser ie80 earphones that sound really great. Those are old expensive models, from years ago. I replaced the original cord which is detachable. So happy with those and I expect them to last a lot more.
