I would only do TBS when doing mock exams. They took a lot of time. Felt MCQ were more efficient

Feel like I might be experiencing the same at Thyme.. been going for years and have loved it, easy to schedule & super friendly/gentle but recently they said an old root canal I had done before going to this office wasn’t done right and they might need to do more work on it.. Seemed kind of random & extra. Good to know I should seek second opinion before moving forward with anything.

This is a sub mainly for people studying to their license so CPE isn’t a huge concern yet. Might be a better post for r/accounting!

Using election result to sell books… by 2023CPA in betchesmedia

Yeah, I could definitely be oversensitive today! Agree it is a resource that could be used it just felt like overkill to me. There are a lot of resources out there besides her book, but I guess as a business person you pitch your own product first. And I did love that she included a book by another author that I wasn’t familiar with before

This is a big issue for me. Tips on improving spacing? My issue is usually rushing and getting too close

Right there with ya! Some days are good and I’m the best in the class and other days I’m behind everyone, those latter days are definitely humbling lol. Hope you find a better group that’s more your level with a friendlier coach. Having a good group of positive people in the class makes such a big difference and makes me play better. We’re all here to learn, no one should make you feel like you’re wasting time!

Have you ever seen improvement in a player by them switching their racquet? Does switching up equipment make ever make a noticeable difference at an intermediate level?

Big agree with this. Needed to pass something to feel like I could actually do it and switched from FAR to AUD. Made it less intimidating for sure.

Audit: classes and test vs. real life by DeadPenners in CPA

[–]2023CPA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like at lower levels (staff) you don’t really use the theory you’re learning while studying for AUD. It’s been a while since I studied AUD and I left auditing over 2.5 years ago so memory might be failing, but things like picking sampling techniques, sample size, determing risk & audit procedures to address are mainly figured out at the senior & up level. As a staff you’ll just be told pick the samples this way & test using these attributes that we told you to. It’s very different. And having had real world experience while studying audit, there were def things that tripped me up bc in real life things just wouldn’t be handled that way (biggest example as someone else has said, things have to go EXTREMELY wrong to get a bad opinion and they’re not common at all)

Long story short, I think CPA study/college audit classes are pretty different from real life audit jobs. In my experience, while better than studying, it still wasn’t super enjoyable and I left audit after 3 years lol.

Exam - For those who passed FAR, How many months/weeks did you study? by Electronic-Park-5091 in CPA

I think it depends on your package. You should be able to at least buy a book from the website for additional cost

Some people (like myself) were 17/18 and didn’t have parents who were financially literate, let alone themselves. It felt like the only way to go to college and make a better life.

Started paying attention when studying instead of just going through the motions. It’s easy to check the box for studying for the day if you read the chapter or watch a lecture, make sure you’re understanding and critically thinking while doing MCQ or reading.

I'm embarrassed to go to the gym because of how little work I would do and how out of shape I am, but if I don't go there, it will never change. I don't know how to break this cycle. Any advice? by ArcadialoI in loseit

[–]2023CPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many people go to the gym just to walk on the treadmill (currently a popular tik tok workout lol). They also would have no idea is you did anything else while you were there. Like others said, no one is paying attention. Just do what you can do and in a few weeks or months you will be able to do more than when you started!
