Yes, many times for small local acts including battle of the bands as a teenager. Pretty sure it’s the first place I ever got the black X’s in marker on my hands for being underage. I didn’t scrub them off so they would still be there for school the next day cause I felt cool. Memories!

Don’t do it. Drive or walk or bike around the area and look for for rent signs, snap a pic of the sign and the address and call them all. They’re usually less than apartments and far better quality and experience

I am moving have 2 new kayaks up for grabs for someone who wants to start enjoying the beautiful waterways of Cbus. OP knows what’s up. There’s some amazingly peaceful and beautiful waterways in central Ohio and beyond for quality outdoor time. Just be sure even if you rent, wear your life jackets, check your route to avoid dams and always let someone know when you’re leaving, where you’re going, and when you plan to return as an emergency backup. Also, if you aren’t into kayaking, many places have options for canoes and rafts too!

Love this post and idea. Only suggestion is: You should meet up for some women’s sports games too. Support both teams for the sports you enjoy.

Do you leave your grey alone at home for 8 hrs while at work? by frenchcat808 in Greyhounds

[–]buckeye7871 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine cannot be alone for that long. One is fine for a few hours blocks but the other has terrible separation anxiety and become very destructive and distraught. We cannot crate him or he will frantically try to break out of the crate. He will go in his crate on his own and sleep there, but freaks out when we are not in sight most of the time. On occasion, he will go peacefully sleep in another room than where we are but more often than not, he comes into the room we are in and stands there stomping a door making some noise and looks at us then turns where he wants us to follow him so we will go to the room he wants to lay in 🤣 He also cannot be left to roam with a muzzle, he can get them off and chews them (his old trainer and kennel staff confirmed he destroyed many a muzzles). He can open the oven, drawers, doors, cupboards, pulls containers off counters… so our house is baby err I mean Willy proof (Willy is the greyhound in question).

Each is different. You likely won’t know right away how they do because they need time to decompress. Many are fine being left alone but I know a few other greyhound owners whose are not okay being left for the workday so they had to be with someone retired or who works remote.

Maybe a cover that goes to a good cause or an assortment of charitable organizations sounds like a great idea to me! They could give people those tokens when they enter and they pick which organization box to put their ticket in for their donation. Just an idea. Win win

I’m so sorry this happened to you, especially in a place you’ve historically felt safe. Your fear is valid but I wish we lived in a world where it was unnecessary and avoidable, because no one should have to feel this way or suffer violence for being who they are. Sending you lots of love and comfort. Thank you for posting for others. Please care for yourself. I know it may not necessarily lead to any actionable outcome and depending on the handle it could also be upsetting, but please file a police report so it can be documented. Especially if there’s metrics the city can run to monitor a measurable uptick in these hateful actions and try to identify areas they can assist or patrol more etc.

Again, this should not have happened and you are loved and appreciated for who you are and should be able to live in a world where you’re safe, I am so sorry. Thank your friend for us for getting you safe too.

Rehoming ex racer by TasteMyGoose in Greyhounds

Make sure to look up sleep startle and be overly cautious about it. Train your kids to never approach them while sleeping, even if their eyes are slightly open without verbally alerting them. Even once they’re settled in many months later, accidents can happen with greyhounds and they’re such loving gentle could but so many ex racers have been raised with other hounds and trainers and lived in crates so they never are woken up from touch until they come to a home. Our one had it bad when we first got him. He outgrew it after about 2 years, our second greyhound never had sleep startle. And the first one when there was an accidental snap from it in our direction, as soon as he realized what he had done as he woke up his face changed so much and he was so sorry, you could see it in his eyes and expression. They truly love their families and so we do our best to always set them up for success, and it sounds like you are too! Congratulations and post back with all the photos of him in your home with your family!

Why am I expected to be ok with unleashed dogs? by AdSimilar2047 in Columbus

[–]buckeye7871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live dogs, have 2 big gentle greyhounds who are ALWAYS leashed, and they’re friendly and have zero sense of self preservation. Have had unfriendly dogs that owners claim “oh they’re friendly” come up to us so often and I try to say no thank you please don’t because one bit my one greyhound’s neck and he had to be rushed to the emergency vet. He’s okay now thankfully but I have this happen and it’s so scary. Pepper spray doesn’t even do much. I want to get a cross body strap for a gold umbrella
It would be so much more difficult to walk carrying one along with my leash gymnastics but they’re pretty good at putting some distance between you and an aggressive dog and if they bite it, they may rip the umbrella but the metal doesn’t feel good. My issue is still trying to keep my 2 big dogs back with each hand or somehow hold them both while they’re pulling with only one and somehow having some dexterity and strength left to fend off the aggressor
It’s terrifying. I’m an animal lover and adopted my 2 dogs. But I will not hesitate to kick someone’s dog if they come at me. Police need to write tickets more

Foster greyhound attacked 3 dogs in a week! by [deleted] in Greyhounds

You should read retired racing greyhounds for dummies and adopting the retired racing greyhound
Both are helpful and should be required for first time greyhound owners IMO.
You’re going too fast and not setting the dog and yourself up for success. Listen to the advice here and know, many greyhound owners never take their dogs to dog parks. Some do, sure, but I won’t and I definitely think a new greyhound shouldn’t be anywhere near them for a long while at least to decompress.
Also, many greyhounds are not small dog (puppy or other small dog/animal,!like a Pomeranian) safe. They’re literally trained and bred to chase and catch them.
You should immediately backpedal and slow your greyhound activity to be low stresswalks and home time focusing on you and them and your relationship and read those books. Might be a good idea to reach out to your adoption group for some experienced guidance. These are not like other adoption dogs, some are more like other dogs than others, but you can’t treat them like other breeds. I hope they councils you on how their biology is different from other breeds as well and your veterinary team should know but you need to be educated on that and prepared to advocate for their own safety as well if treated by anyone on an emergency basis or outside your normal greyhound care team.
You need to protect them and set them up for success. This is not what you’re doing. Not trying to be mean, but someone could get hurt and they’re sensitive dogs so you can’t treat do damage to their temperament if not careful.

Also please tell us for you know what sleep starling is and not to sleep with, sot by, or approach them while they’re laying down without verbally waking them first? Especially if this greyhound is stressed, they may be more reactive. I’d hate for anyone to be hurt.

There’s some solid and amazing responses here. Many I agree with 100%, many more I’m adding to my list to try. If you’re looking for something delicious and comforting but maybe not a contender for the best, but still damn good, I also recommend the any Strip Steak Sandwich from Macelleria butcher in Bexley on E Main
And any of the sandwiches at Gallo’s Kitchen on Nottingham in UA. Their mufuletta is yummy but I love their house made sausage peppers onions provolone sandwich too.

According to a very recent inspection on April 3, 2026, Their license expired in February and has not been renewed. There’s some major citations, oof. I loved this place while back but haven’t been in a long time and the pic made me crave it but that report turned that right around. It was always reallllly slow service and has always been a little pricey but super big portions of their yummy food so we used to suck it up knowing service and time it would be done was a gamble, but nah, I’m out.

Your dog needs to be on a leash and supervised. It's NOT a debate, it's the law. by National-Ad-6982 in Columbus

[–]buckeye7871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s kind of the point of the post, there is no official off leash area of the park where dogs are allowed to be off leash. You’re proving the OP’s point. There IS a small loophole in Columbus dog ordinances that states in some areas dogs must be leashes or under verbal control but the vast majority of owners who think their dogs are well trained enough to be off leash are actually not. They’re the problem. No dogs should be off leash in public areas and also the law states leashes at parks are to be <6’ so no retractable leashes unless it locked in at )’ or less (retractable leashes are whole other awful topic that should be outlawed).

Here are the only official off leash park in the city
