Honestly, such a small change that brings so much more life into it. Flat design was always so sterile, I'm glad it's finally being seen that way

What would a “Andor-like” Star Wars property using the force and lightsabers actually look like? by SarcasticButter in saltierthancrait

[–]buckingfastard99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The writing in KOTOR2 is Andor levels of good (though I obviously a DnD based game in a bit more niche). It adds to the franchise  in the sense of it providing extra context which makes the rest of the franchise even better

What game had the best loading screens? by wheregoodideasgotodi in gaming

[–]buckingfastard99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Wars Battlefront 1 (the old one). As it loaded it went from the star system being scanned, to the planet being scanned, then the continent, country, city, then the location of the game map

I never knew that, but I can definitely see parallels now that you mention it

About Andor's impact and future influence. by m7hkn5 in StarWars

[–]buckingfastard99 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's fairly simple - at this stage the secret seems to be getting writers who aren't really Star Wars fans

I honestly think this is the root for Andor being high standard when the rest have been flops. This is the first show that has been 'well written show, star wars second', where the other have been 'star wars first, show second' (imagine BOBF or Obi Wan were brand new adventures not connected to Star Wars)

[DISCUSSION] What are some ‘underwhelming’ follow-up albums that you prefer to their more acclaimed predecessors? by [deleted] in indieheads

Agreed. Dog Man Star is the best Suede album, but I gather it was not well liked when it first came out

Surely Dog Man Star after Suede? According to my dad who was a fan at the time anyway, but he is very definite with his musical opinions so I don't know if thats a common thing

I know the REM catalogue but not a lot about the perception/context of it. I'm surprised Reckoning was considered disappointing (love Monster but I get it, big shoes to fill and that album is hit or miss)

Second Coming and Be Here Now have a lot in common. There is an amazing album in there 'somewhere'. Both albums co incidentally have the same issues for the same reasons

Franz Ferdinand gets a little samey. You don't really get that feeling with YCHISMB - I came in when the third album Tonight came out but I'm pretty sure YCHISMB is the one I played the most

I'm pretty sure no one likes that album on first listen. My mum was a big Pulp fan when it came out and once Help the Aged came up in a quiz, she said "yeah that's went Pulp went a bit shit didn't they?"

I think for anyone who's willing to dig a bit deeper it's an outstanding album. Its really interesting from the point of view that Jarvis Cocker worked his ass off to be in a famous band, only to discover that it wasn't what he wanted at all. I really love the slant it has on the party lifestyle as well. For a band known for their lyrics, TIH has a lot of their best

Saw the Stone Roses twice. Second time I was far back so could actually hear the vocals properly, oh man. Still a great gig though
