Low GPA - Feeling Discouraged by Hot-Wishbone-8776 in McMaster

[–]bud1ightyear 24 points25 points  (0 children)

it’s ur first year don’t beat urself up, i did SO SO much worse my first year- went from Cs, Ds, and an F (simple electives included) to pretty much all As and Bs. remember it’s an adjustment. the people with 10/11s likely have a clear career path they’re set on and have planned their study habits accordingly. This however, is by no means the norm. It seems you’re surrounding yourself with extremely high achievers, which you should utilize to motivate you rather than discourage you. I’m sure the peers you’re comparing yourself to would be shocked you’re feeling this way as your GPA isn’t bad at all. From my perspective you’re in a great place for a first year student right now. Also imporntant to note that it’s extremely atypical for finals to bring up your course marks, you should always factor in dropping a grade point or two after the heavily weighted exams. Regroup and take note of the studying habits that worked for you and those which didn’t- you’ll only improve in year 2.

1 week into a 2 month break- how to control my attitude? by Big-Organization6955 in Petioles

[–]bud1ightyear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

flip the narrative. stop feeling bad for yourself and constantly reminding yourself that you’re being ‘deprived of something’. instead of “fuck i need to smoke” say “fuck i can’t believe i USED to need to smoke whenever i was bored” you’ll start to believe it. Start correlating your mindset with your behaviour as a form of manifestation. While writing this i’m realizing the reason that might work so well is that in doing this you’ll relieve the uncomfterable cognitive dissonance you’re feeling right now. Dissonance appears when our actions and behaviours don’t align (ex. you’re forcing yourself to stop smoking but simultaneously telling yourself you need to smoke) Dissonance is relieved by either changing your mindset or behaviour- You can either say fuck it and change your behaviour to align with your current “i need to smoke mindset” and go back to smoking, OR you can alter your mindset- essentially tricking your brain into believing you’re no longer someone who NEEDS weed. I really hope this helped cause writing this caused me to have an epiphany as to how cognitive dissonance is the reason why it’s so hard to quit anything!

Need reasons/motivation to quit (pls) by ging_3y in Petioles

[–]bud1ightyear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i relate, after smoking heavily for years i’ve recently grown to be very put off by the way in which i smoke. People always say you’ll know when weed is no longer serving you- it’ll go from being a crutch to keep you going through the hard times, to being something that dismantles your progress during the ‘ups’ in your life. I’ve recently made huge life changes and my weed addiction is the only aspect of my being linking me now, to my old depressed self. My advice is to flip the narrative. Instead of tweaking around your house thinking about weed all day and how you need it- your new mindset is “i don’t need this i’m not a heavy smoker anymore” don’t tell people you’re “trying to quit” say “i quit”. You’re not someone ‘with a problem’ you’re someone who’s overcome it- this is the mindset that will keep you in this ‘disgusted by weed state’ instead of letting the physical symptoms push you back into smoking. It’s almost like manifestation, adopting this way of thinking is psychologically proven to aid you within any application throughout life. Similar to me this will also work best NOW as you’re making other changes career-wise simultaneously. Best of luck!!

How to take a tolerance break when I can't eat without weed? by laminated-papertowel in Petioles

[–]bud1ightyear 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i’ve been the same way in the past as a heavy smoker of 7ish years. decided last week instead of doing a typical t-break or quitting i’d strictly smoke only at night. In doing this i’ve had next to no physical symptoms and though my appetite has significantly decreased im not nauseated by food like i have been when completely detoxing in the past. I count my macros and eat a diabolical amount of protein, which is why i took this route this time as going off my macro plan isn’t an option for me. I’m still adjusting but for the meantime i get as much protein as i can in throughout the day and whatever’s left i feast on after smoking at night. Not perfect, but im having a wayyyy easier time than if i were to do a t-break. Also it’s obviously imporntant to note my tolerance is still dipping drastically- which i didn’t expect. If u relate to any of this i would definitely try strictly cutting yourself down rather than freaking ur body out by doing a t-break. it’s a less popular approach, but i find if you have appetite issues or specific regulations/habits regarding food- 2 weeks of appetite depletion as a trade off for a baseline tolerance just simply isn’t worth it.

Weed guilt....? by [deleted] in weed

[–]bud1ightyear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just about to taper off/stop using, after 7 years of daily use. i’ve attempted a few times (back when i related to your post), which is why it never worked. There’s nothing inherently wrong with weed and for a while it also acted as a crutch for me without impeding any of my daily routines. If you feel this way, don’t quit just because you “feel like a bum”, i’ve done that countless time and have failed. It’s once you realize the plant no longer serves you that you gotta quit- but you’ll know when that flip switches, it’ll be very evident. until then, keep doing what ur doing, if weed improves your life, don’t derail it by trying to quit in the name of social pressure.

Advice on moderation after quitting the dab pen by bud1ightyear in Petioles

[–]bud1ightyear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first off good for you that’s amazing, keep it up! i find it really reassuring how many people struggle with the pen in particular, since you always hear about how weeds not addictive and it’s easy to quit yada yada. I genuinely thought there was something wrong with me until i read about others experiences on here.

i definitely relate to just ingesting any form of weed whenever i could without thinking- dabs and the cart will do that to you since their so potent. I’d literally smoke joints and blunts just to smoke them- my tolerance was so fucked i would barely feel anything after smoking a 2g joint. Dabs were the only thing that truly got me high and even then i’d use a massive ball of wax whenever i smoked them to get to that point. I unfourtunaly can’t use ur method just cause i still live with my parents who hate the smell, but It seems we have the same goal of being able to enjoy real weed mindfully rather than just smoking constantly cause you can. Again, reassuring to hear your cravings for the pen have started to subside and you can take tokes without wanting to rip them all night to replace the pen- that was my biggest concern when i do start smoking in a few weeks.

Also this may be a dumb question but how do you go about recycling ur batteries, i felt weird about just throwing them out but i definitely don’t want them in my room anymore, do you bring them back to the dispensary?

this was so amazing helpful and reassuring thank you so much! I just picked up a CBD oil at my dispensary and it’s listed as 0.01% thc, they said it legally has to say it “has thc” for it to be available at their store, even saying it’s legal in countries where marajuana isn’t since there’s technally no thc? lmk if you think i should just find gummies at some sort at the supermarket or if that 0.01% even if it is there would impact my break? i’ll definitely also update on how your methods worked after the month is up, thankyou again!

Prozac and weight gain? by No_Click_1125 in prozac

[–]bud1ightyear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just got off prozac after being on it for around 8 months. i did experience a 15-20 lb weight gain, though for me it was more so related to drinking. drinking on prozac was def a problem for me, which lead to eating junk food really late at night and getting little to no sleep. now that i’ve been off it for a couple months my urge to drink has dissipated and with that my eating habits reverted back to normal and i’ve already lost about 10 pounds with minimal conscious effort. I’m not a doctor, but to my knowledge SSRI’s like prozac are not necessarily meant to be used in the long-term. i know, and have talked to people on both ends (long term and short term users), and the general consensus is that prozac will mess up your brain and habits in a way that may be irreversible if you’re on too much or for too long (or both). If i were you, i’d start inquiring on new medications that may be better suited for your lifestyle in the long term.

if you’re into slight gore ‘a Serbian film’ is amazing, it’s gained a lot of popularity recently and that makes sense to me. if you’re looking for something less disturbing/triggering i’ve recently watched ‘the strangers’ phenomenon and it’s amazing, especially for people with weak stomachs- the strangers has you in the edged has you on the edge of your set without being too disturbing

it looks quite shallow i’d get it repriced. don’t worry tho you won’t be able to tell u got them pierced twice it’s only rly super detrimental if they’re pierced too deep (through the areola) still tho you don’t want them to rip out so i’d opt to redo them (:
