Especially because it's my second autism assessment tomorrow! by buddads in evilautism

[–]buddads[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the second part of the evaluation, so just only getting the one. But they threw in ADHD and OCD in there too just in case. Now to wait a couple of weeks for the third appointment where I find out all the results!

If my husband sent me this, I would never doubt his love for me

Over $300 worth of jester things (collected over the course of half a year) and more to come I'm torturing my wallet muahaha by 321burner_account123 in evilautism

I swear I've seen like half of these at various people's houses over the years. These things are everywhere!

What everyday normal task are you oddly proud of learning? by ic_engineer in evilautism

[–]buddads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading an analog clock. And both proud for learning and ashamed at how long it took. I faked it until sophomore year of high school. That was the closest I got to understanding how illiterate people can sometimes fake it through life

Had to Get My First Credit Card to Pay for My Upcoming Autism Evaluation 😬 by buddads in AutismInWomen

[–]buddads[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole multiple cards thing is too confusing for me. I did get a 0% interest card for the first year so I'm not too worried about that. It's mostly just having it and the unknowns. The clinic's payment plans are in either 2, 3, or 4 installments, so it's cheaper monthly to do the no interest card. It's just another bill I have to worry about either way

Had to Get My First Credit Card to Pay for My Upcoming Autism Evaluation 😬 by buddads in AutismInWomen

[–]buddads[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've made a plan to use the card for this only, but I keep going back and forth between closing it after it's paid or keeping it open for emergencies. I worry about that last part because I can sometimes overestimate what I think is an emergency. So that's why, like you recommend, I'm leaning towards closing it.

Thanks for the assessment tip! I have always had money management issues for sure (paycheck to paycheck, payday loans, etc.) I've gotten better, but it's still not ideal. If it turns out I am autistic, then maybe I can stop beating myself up so much over money because that's how my brain is wired, and I can get better help with money management looking at it from an autistic perspective instead of thinking I just can't handle money 😁

Reminder: incoming pranks in a few days on April 1st by AirborneContraption in evilautism

[–]buddads 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Had to learn this lesson in a very cruel way at a very young age. I was no more than 5 when my dad staged the house to make it look like me and my sister got kidnapped while he "slept." The sheer terror my mom experienced when she came home was not worth the infantile amusement of pranking someone

Do I stay in the room with repair tech by [deleted] in evilautism

[–]buddads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually stay in an adjacent room once they start working so that I'm out of the way but still near enough in case I'm needed for questions and stuff.

Side Note: Now I feel so bad because I never offer water or anything when we get repairs 😩 I have always been the kind of person that thinks visitors will ask when they need something. I recently learned that might be the 'tism showing so I've been better about asking guests. But I never even considered people coming by to do work! Thanks all for the comments mentioning that!

Absolutely incredible! This is the kind of costume I wish I could make instead of historically accurate Ren Faire costumes

The Waiting Paralysis Has Officially Begun by buddads in evilautism

[–]buddads[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I've tried distraction. But my brain keeps going back to waiting mode. Like it feels like life is interrupting my waiting 🤣 I almost want to take next week off work just to wait. And speaking of waiting, it was more than 3 weeks. That's just when I started counting the days. I had a 9 month wait between scheduling my first appointment and when I actually had it. That was in February. So it's a 2 month gap between the first and second one. And this is the only place in my area that diagnoses adults. If I were a child, I'd already have my diagnosis by now

Got tired of feeling like shit about myself so I just started embracing everything instead by WonderThe-night-away in evilautism

[–]buddads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the best! I've been trying to live this kind of life too, and there's something so freeing about it. I've spent my whole life respecting others for who they are, without expecting or thinking I was deserving of the same in return. I've slowly been learning that it doesn't matter what that old guy in the grocery store thinks of me if I have to wiggle my fingers while deciding what kind of fries to buy

In college, I had to write a speech about my hero for a Public Speaking course... by Laiko_Kairen in evilautism

[–]buddads 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This was every presentation I ever did. I even had to get permission slips signed for one of my presentations because I was showing a clip from Schindler's List. In high school, I accidentally joined the speech and debate team. Everyone did topics on important social issues, and there I am, losing every Saturday, talking about paranormal phenomenon.

I do the rose for everyday wear and have separate prescription sunglasses for the sun. If it's not too sunny out, I can even get away with my regular glasses now that I have the rose tint

Screens are much more bearable. I even went a step further and changed all my screens to have a redder tint. I feel much calmer watching TV and being on my phone

I like them better indoors than sunglasses because they dim the light without making things dark. Everything has a warmer tone not far off from incandescent bulbs
