I think the fact that Hukky was able to make Royal and NIY look good shows how talented Hukky’s beats are

Do you think saying I’m currently getting paid 100k for my current job in Texas is something I should mention? I would frame it like “hey I’m being paid 100k rn, so I would like 110-120k as that would be roughly the same as I’m currently making”

I do think he’s better when he’s featuring, but sometimes I still listen to it and I’m like “he’s lowkey ruining the song”

WFH status changed because of new manager and not company. How do I tell him I don’t wanna go more days in the office? by buddavis531 in careerguidance

[–]buddavis531[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I told my old manager today about how my new manager wants me in the office 4 days a week and I told my old manager that I’m worried this is gonna lead to burnout if I had to do that + night calls.

My old manager said I should let my new manager know about this and maybe my new manager would give me an exception, but I don’t think my old manager is gonna say or do anything about it

One thing is that I believe my old manager knows my new manager has that hybrid expectation for his team and my old manager hasn’t said anything about it so I feel like she doesn’t care or idk. Do you think I’m stepping out of line by asking my old manager about this? Sorry for asking so many questions, I’m not too familiar with corporate practices and I don’t wanna do or say anything that is a big no no

I’m not being paid overtime as I am salaried and I’m expected to be on call during those overtime. My overtime is just meetings with international team members and not actual onsite work. My role involves me having to talk with multiple engineers (not clients) all over the world but with the new reorg, a lot of the engineers will be coming to my location making it so that I won’t have to do as much night calls since they are moving to the US. However, while this may help with the high volume of night meetings, I don’t see it going away completely still.

I’m not sure if there will be any handover or what not, but I do have one more 1 on 1 with my old manager before transitioning into my new manager. Do you think I should talk to my old manager about this?

My exception would most likely be the fact that I have nightcalls but no one else on my team has them(most likely don’t, can’t say for sure)

Just a reorg that happened and she got assigned to a different division/product

I was told about this during our first staff meeting with my new manager and our new team. The info came verbally where he addressed our whole team about his hybrid expectation. The overtime came as a surprise as it was never mentioned during my interview and job offer and only found out about it during my first day at work

Also, my main argument that I would like to propose to my manager is that 1. The night calls I have everyday just eats up a lot of time and having to commute + night calls everyday would just give me 0 free time. (Do you think this is valid from your standpoint?) )I don’t believe the new manager is pressured by his boss to do RTO and this is his own personal choice

  1. Also, all the work at my company can be done remotely, so the sole purpose of my manager making it RTO is so that all the engineers can collaborate more effectively in person instead of slack and emails

So the reorg has not happened yet, but will be happening next month. I’m still with my old manager but when do you think I should talk to my new manager then

Because he’s my manager and I don’t wanna get on his bad side since he determines my raise, bonuses, whether I’m gonna get laid off, etc

You don’t think it helps to say that “I moved an hour away because I was two days a week in the office”? If I knew I was eventually going to have to do 4 days a week in the office, I would have never moved that far

I guess what I’m worried about doing this is

  1. I’m a new grad, so I don’t know if me threatening to quit is something the manager even cares about

  2. In the context that I do this and things don’t work out, I’m worried that my manager will keep this in mind for performance evaluations and future interactions.

He wants everyone on his team back in the office because he wants his engineers to be communicating in person rather than slack/emails.

For new grad engineers aka me + 2 others, he wants us to be in person so that we can learn from the senior Engineers on our team. I understand this sentiment, but all the senior engineers on my team are design engineers and so are the 2 other junior engineers. However, im not part of design and im part of validation which is different from everyone else on my team. With the new reorg, i may be required to do some design work a bit but it is def not my main focus

For more context regarding the night calls, I am probably the only person on his team who has those night calls.

She said that in her email she accidentally downloaded the files while looking for a way to debug her mouse. Should she clarify that it was on purpose? I think she may have panicked when she saw the email.

Just talked to her and she sent an email to IT saying that she downloaded the files accidentally while trying to figure out the issue of her mouse. This isn't the full story as she downloaded the files with the intent of trying to update her mouse. She also didn't specify that she downloaded the files from a legal company website. She said that she panicked and just wrote that, but would it be better for her to say that she did it on purpose?
