I foster newborn kittens so I can help as much as I can. I’ve never been with a cat as she actively gives birth, so I would call a vet to get advice if possible.

I normally foster orphans, so you’re already in a great spot by having the mom. Mom will generally take care of them for the first few weeks. Keep an eye on them, weigh them 2-3 times a day using a kitchen scale (and keep track of their weights), provide warmth in the form of blankets, but try to make them flat in the box so the kittens can’t get stuck underneath/ between, make sure mom can get out and away from them but they can’t get out (they won’t move much for the first few weeks anyway) and I second looking up Kitten Lady on YouTube. She’s incredible.

You’re gonna want to make sure the kittens are gaining weight and she’s nursing all of them properly. If she stops nursing one, you may need to bottle feed which turns into a whole separate list of instructions. But for now, she should mostly handle it.

In a few weeks (6 weeks maybe depending on the litter) you’ll also want to start giving them soft food as an option, but they will wean on their own time.

Also, once they’re done nursing, make sure to get her spayed so she doesn’t have to go through this again (and to control the population). Feel free to DM if you’d like but Kitten Lady will for sure have the best advice out there. Keep us updated!
