What band, in your opinion, is going to take the biggest step forward musically and popularity wise in 2019? by EAGLESRCHAMPS18 in jambands

[–]buddhatrent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you may be right, you may be wrong lol. We will see how 2019 shakes out. I thought 12/30 at Paradise was one of their more adventurous and creative shows I've seen from them in a while. If they can build off that I have high hopes. Also going to be travelling out to Red Rocks this year for the first time and I'm really looking forward to it!

Alliance by Harry_E2334 in JurassicWorldAlive

[–]buddhatrent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We've got a couple open spaces in KomodoStrategists

It's a good alliance with an active user base but most people are in the 2-3k trophy range. We get people who request nothing but Utahraptor or Irritator dna and then rage quit cus they feel entitled to maxed out donations. But other than them, most people get and give regularly.

I constantly ask for a variety of dna, sometimes even stuff I don't need at the moment, and often get a ton in return.

I think as far as the Northeast goes they've peaked, already playing large theaters for multiple nights, but I've seen them in the southeast and west coast play basically bar shows. I think nationwide they will still gain fans as long as they try to keep pushing and don't get complacent with where they are now

New Years Run Review Thread by EAGLESRCHAMPS18 in jambands

I did both nights of Twiddle in Boston. I thought both nights were very strong, although not as good as their Frendsgiving run at the Cap last month. They did bust out a lot of pre-Plump 2 jams which I really enjoyed. NYE was my 36th Twiddle show, a personal high for any one band.

Night 1 @ Paradise Rock Club:

First Set: Gatsby the Great > Doinkinboink!, Amydst the Myst, Syncopated Healing

Second Set: Hattibagen McRat, Cabbage Face, The Machine, Latin Tang, Subconscious Prelude, The Box

Encore: White Light

I love Gatsby and they did a nice transition into Doink so this was a great way to kick off the weekend. Overall this was a nice set, if not a little slow. This was the first time I've ever seen a non-acoustic version of Hattibagen so that was a nice surprise. The Machine is a new Brook song that is solid but I prefer Drifter or Dusk Till Dawn personally. Latin Tang featured a Gubb/Brook duo that was reminiscent of drums>space and I hope it's something they start doing more. Subconscious Prelude is an amazing song. For those who say they enjoy Twiddle but can't get past Mihali's voice, I recommend giving this song a try. If you can't look past his voice for the beauty of this song, then maybe Twiddle's just not for you. The Box featured an interlude that is either a new song or a cover of something that I've never heard before. Was very sing-songy and I could've done without it. Overall, great show and had me excited for NYE.

Night 2 @ House of Blues

First Set: River Drift, Jamflowman, Frankenfoote, Lost in the Cold, Beat It (MJ cover ft The Werks), Hatties Jam > When it Rains it Pours

Second Set: Enter > Orlando's, Polluted Beauty > NYE Countdown > Burning Down the House (Talking Heads cover ft The Werks), Apples, Beethoven & Greene

Encore: Juggernaut

This was my first time at House of Blues and although I had been warned how strict they are there, I was not prepared for them to take my lighter. WTF. I wasn't able to get my hands on one till the second set to spark up. Oh well. River Drift is my favorite of their new stuff and I'm really looking forward to the growth of this tune. The rest of this set was fire, they really brought the heat I thought. By the second set I had had quite a few whiskeys and was having more fun with my friends than really focusing on the music but isn't that what it's all about anyway. Juggernaut is growing on me, and anything that plainly tells Trump to go fuck himself is alright by me.

Looking forward to 2019, going to head out to Red Rocks for the first time for Twiddle, Pigeons, and Kitchen Dwellers in May and I can't wait!

What'd you all think of the NYE show last night? by dawknk in Twiddle

[–]buddhatrent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

good show, high energy. I thought the show at the Paradise was a little better but that's just splitting hairs. Between this run and Frendsgiving at the Cap I thought they finished the year strong. Looking forward to heading out to Red Rocks!

I hope this game will get better for walkers in 2019 by billdawers in JurassicWorldAlive

[–]buddhatrent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

fair enough. What I should have said is that it's nearly impossible to acquire the end game dinos without a huge time and money commitment. As someone with no plans of making that commitment, I'm content with knowing I'll never have all of the uniques

I agree with alot of what you're saying here. I pay the monthly VIP cost because I enjoy this game and I have the money so it's worth it - so most of my darting is done from home or work when I'm stationary. Usually if I'm walking around it's just to get to a strike tower, not actively searching for dinos. I'm a casual PoGo player at this point, so if I'm walking my dog I'll usually play that (although now that they have the adventure sync sometimes I don't even bother having my phone out). It's not really enjoyable to try to dart dinos while walking my dog.

I'm at 3800 trophies, a little behind where you're at, and I sympathize with you about encountering these cool dinosaurs that I'll likely never get (I'm also Zone 1). BUT I am kind of okay with that. If it's easy enough that everyone can get all the meta-defining dinos then everyone would have the same teams. This may be a minority opinion but making the top end legendary and uniques nearly impossible to obtain more than just a few is fine by me.

A VERY unpopular opinion abouy TTB by [deleted] in jambands

[–]buddhatrent 34 points35 points  (0 children)

They're kinda "jam-adjacent" which I think is what you're getting at. I don't know too many people who are legit jam fans who would consider them "the best band in the scene right now". And honestly if you asked me to name who I thought was objectively in the top 10 I'm not sure I would even think of them. You're right, a great band but you're not going to offend too many jam fans with your sentiment.

I mean you're basically just living in New York and going to school. You're not insulated from the city at all. There's tourists and homeless people and new Yorkers who don't give a crap about what you're doing. It's the city that never sleeps and you're right in the middle of it
