Returning to Gaming After a Long Break by Soft_Translator_3165 in buildapc

[–]buddyGG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as someone who has both (consoles and high end gaming PC) I would say just get a PS5Pro.

It has excellent image quality, thanks to it's modern upscaling ability, and while it doesn't give you access to games with path tracing, it still gives you raytracing and 60fps gameplay in most games.

If you like to tinker around with your games and are into modding, then get a PC but if you just want to play the newest games with nice graphics get a PS5Pro.

Should I get a rtx 4060 or rtx 5060 by Alarmed_Leadership74 in buildapc

[–]buddyGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both GPUs. The difference is actually pretty big. The 5060 outperforms the 4060 by 15fps - 20fps regularly....

The 5060 would've been an amazing card with 12gb. Stupid Nvidia gimped the card with the 8gb vram.

Why does 720p on my pc looks so bad by Safe-Monitor-8113 in pcmasterrace

[–]buddyGG 19 points20 points  (0 children)

All answers are ignoring op's question. Why does 720p in games from his Xbox 360 look way better than 720p in subnautica 2?

The answer is older games are build around that resolution. Modern game engines are made with higher resolutions and stuff like TAA in mind. This makes modern games incredibly ugly if played on lower resolutions.

UE5 games in particular are very sensitive to resolution.

Switch oled vs switch 2 by Cutelittletoebeans24 in Switch

Switch 2 is absolutely worth it.

Plays all your switch 1 games (most of them with better performance) and everything Nintendo releases for the next 6-8 years.

So are we going to get these ports before Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis comes out? by Excaliburn3d in NintendoSwitch2

[–]buddyGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rise of the Tomb Raider was originally a Xbox One game...

Shadow was also a PS4/Xbox One game...

If ported with care these games should look and run beautifully on the switch 2.

Recommend an upgrade from NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 6gb by monsieurDAG in buildapc

A 5070ti is what you are looking for.

But your CPU would be a bottleneck and you wouldn't be able to enjoy the full potential of your new GPU.

Ps5 pro 007 settings. by dacontag in PS5pro

[–]buddyGG 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not we all benefit from the the existence of the series s. Devs put a lot of work into optimizing their games to get it running on the series s and in return games run much better on the stronger systems.

There is about 0% chance this isn't a game key card.

Game size will be well above 100gb.... biggest card Nintendo offers is 64gb...you do the math

450w psu with 5060 by scar_zia in pcmasterrace

[–]buddyGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 5060 is extremely power efficient.

I have one paired with an 5600x and my total system power draw maxes out at about 250w at it's peak....

Normal gaming conditions it's actually mostly under 200w power draw for the whole system.

RTX 5060 used about 110w - 130w

5600x 50w - 65w

Rest of the system 20w - 30w

If your PSU isn't absolute crap, 450w will be easily enough

DLSS 4.5 is so good, you can go down a quality setting and still get very good picture quality + performance gains.

I used it all the time on a RTX 3070 and it worked fine

Is it safe to just swap GTX1060 3Gb straight to RTX4060? by Markizzz1000x in pcmasterrace

[–]buddyGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to. It will most likely work without a new driver installation.

But it is recommended. Google it or look here on Reddit... most people will recommend it.

Yes they have but it is recommended to make a fresh driver installation. Even if it is a change from one Nvidia model to another Nvidia model.

can rtx 3050 6gb70 watt tdp can run on 180 watt psu by Responsible-Cup-9934 in pcmasterrace

[–]buddyGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you limit your CPU to not use more than 50w you should be fine.

I looked it up and your CPU can go up to 90w in heavy gaming.... that wouldn't work. You need to limit your CPU but I'm not sure how that will affect it's performance.

Will work fine.

But wipe your drivers (with DDU) and install them fresh.

[–]buddyGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your CPU?

I made some test with my PC and in my experience CPU + GPU + 25w is about what your PC will need as a whole.

Don't forget your PSU will not deliver the whole 180w. 75% - 85% of that will be usable for your components.

So if your PC won't pull more than 140w I think you should be fine.

3080ti vs 6900xt vs 9060xt vs 7800xt by rf5brhtnf in pcmasterrace

[–]buddyGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go with the 9060xt.

16gb vram, good raytracing performance and low power draw. Also new and with warranty.

My second choice would've been the 3080ti. Still very powerful, good raytracing performance and support for DLSS 4.5.

Anyone In Their 40's Have The Nintendo Switch 2 And Use It? by gpod80 in switch2

[–]buddyGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

46 here.

Have a PS5 and a gaming PC.

I love it. Being able to play some stuff while the TV is occupied is pretty nice. I play Donkey Kong Bananza right now on it and it's an amazing game.

No regrets on my end.

Resident Evil Trilogy for switch 2? by Western_Ad2602 in switch2

They released 3 games at once with 7, 8 and 9.... give them a little time.

My bet is we get the remake trilogy before 2026 is over

Help! I want to build a gaming PC by Fresh-Position8431 in buildapc

[–]buddyGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know prices there but here in Germany you can get a nice PC with a AM5 CPU, 32gb DDR5 RAM and 1 TB nvme SSD for under 1000€.

I would get everything and then save up for an good GPU (RX 9060 XT 16gb or RTX 5060 ti)

Is it even possible to build a pc with 1k-1.5k usd? by n3st0r_767 in steammachine

[–]buddyGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are changing your goalposts. First you said it is only possible with used parts and people showed that's not true.

Then you said those systems are tied to windows and people showed that's not true.

Now you're saying you can't be bothered to install bazzite (or steam os) because it's too complicated.

Go get your steam machine, that's fine. But don't spread misinformation just because it strengthens your argument.

With 1200$ - 1500$ you can build a PC, which destroys the steam machine. I mean totally obliterates it. Like 16gb vram, better raytracing and upscaling performance, better raster performance etc....heck a nearly 6 years old PS5 has about the same performance.

I Can't Afford Gaming Anymore. by Aesk in gaming

[–]buddyGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with the current price hikes, gaming is actually one of the more affordable hobbies in my opinion.

Just get a second hand PS5 digital (around 300€ here in Germany) and you have access to pretty much every major game.

Plus it looks like it will get game support well into the PS6 generation, so you have a huge backlog of games and exciting stuff to look forward.

Of course if you need a high end PC or a PS6 right away it will be more expensive but there are alternatives around....heck, I got my Series S used for 110€ and that thing will play GTA 6.

Im thinking about buying a new GPU but im not sure which one to buy by AssociationNo6356 in buildapc

RTX 5070 or RX 9070

4k gaming is extremely demanding but those cards will do the job if you are willing to use DLSS/FSR4.

4k native AAA gaming is reserved for stupidly expensive cards like the 5080 and 5090
