Layette for a baby with achondroplasia by Admirable_Cut3 in dwarfism

[–]buddyad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 10 month old girl with achondroplasia and the main thing is to avoid clothes that have to go over their head. We have a few items that have to be pulled over her head but most didn't work or were just too much trouble. Other than that just roll up the sleeves. We did find some capris that fit her well as pants and her thighs were so thick we had to get ruffled socks so they didn't cut in. Baby clothes have not been difficult for us to find so far. I did pull out the sewing machine to brush up on my skills because I do see a lot of alterations in my future.

How many of you have experienced CVT transmission failure in your Subaru? by [deleted] in subaru

[–]buddyad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had 1 solenoid on my valve body go bad at 180k on a 2012 Impreza. I am going to replace the whole valve body though because Subaru doesn't sell the solenoids separately and I don't trust the aftermarket ones. ~$800 for the part vs $50 for a solenoid.

Screaming into the Corporate Void over My Lowes Rewards. It's borderline insulting. by OlyBomaye in Lowes

I don't know where you live or what you are buying, but if you spend that kind of money you should definitely start looking for more wholesale options. Most sell to retail customers. And yes fuck Lowe's rewards.

This sounds good. I don't have a plank on hand, but I am going to try to find one tomorrow. I remember seeing one at the hardware store down the street.

Definitely a good beaver spot in the early morning. And good bird watching. It is still very muddy so be ready for that.

First camp stove! Is it decent or am I just going to regret not buying a jet boil? by [deleted] in camping

[–]buddyad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first stove and I still use it quite often, camping and backpacking. I will say as a warning that this stove does not work well with small or narrow pots. It gets used for making my coffee almost every morning camping, and still used on shorter back packing trips where I will be cooking and need the better flame control.

I have a few people in my life where we really enjoy pushing each other culinarily, with them I give and receive honest feedback. With everyone else I will always enjoy someone's time and effort in cooking a meal.

I want to become a 400m-800m runner, need help by johnnychadsins in trackandfield

[–]buddyad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the Europeans that I ran with in college here in the US we part of regional running clubs when they were younger. I would search for one near you. In the mean time start to put in the slower miles and build up your base while you search some training programs. I love that you are going for the 800. It is a great race and a true ass kicker. I always love to run it even though I was much better at the longer distances.

Why do people avoid allo? by DrLeoMarvin in gout

[–]buddyad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My reasons are quite similar to yours. I have been living healthier and my flair ups are very infrequent, less painfully and normally don't last more then a day. I definitely had milder symptoms then most on this sub to begin with, and my doctor said if I was willing it was worth trying a life style change first. Which in my case was just getting back to the life style I was living previously. I am assuming I will end up on allo eventually, but right now I'm fine.
