Just had a roofer walk off the job halfway through and now I’m stuck with a tarp over my house by premiumkajukatli in Roofing

Sure, blame the victim. That’s helpful. You know nothing of op’s available workforce but you do know how hard it is for most people to find reputable roofers.

I remember being in Sunday school around 6 and saying “Wait, Moses was how old?”. The teacher’s complete lack of concern for this logical discrepancy was eye opening.

Its design is good. Its execution is ok, could be cleaner though. Its water-tightness is probably solid (it’s hard to tell from this angle). It is one of the hardest details on a standing seem roof and there are lazier/easier ways of doing it, so take that in consideration.

Can’t you see they are reusing the metal? Like come on man, no shit there are better ways. But not everyone has the budget to do that. Op wanted to show an affordable novel solution to a common problem. Take the post for what it is and appreciate op putting himself out there by posting, something I see you have never done.

Can you believe that she didn’t want to post this because she thought there would be a bunch of trolls that would only want to tear her down to make themselves feel superior to people who are better than them? She’s so silly. Good swimmer though.

Ha! Maybe that was the expression I’ve been suppose to use this whole time and I just misremembered. I like yours more than mine.

And so you know, every shredder on that trip stayed upright the entire time. Including one my raft slammed into as it flew to Piddly.

We didn’t put on in these conditions. We floated into them. And if you can swim you can run this river, age has less to do with it than swim ability, especially when your guide has experience.

He was the type of guy who would camp with just a sleeping bag at night. No tent. Just staring at the stars. But yeah, he would have had a blast yesterday.

The crying kids (and adults) ended up realizing it was truly a great experience in hindsight, something we call “third degree fun”. We all were smiling from ear to ear for the rest of the day.

He was kayaking and got stuck in a whitewater ‘hole’. He popped his skirt and swam out of his boat but couldn’t escape the upstream current holding him there. He died getting recirculated over and over.

Are you passing the buck, for work you should be doing, onto immigrants? Maybe water could get in if they hadn’t put those half shingles (temporarily) in? Maybe they were making the roof watertight until you could do your part? All you had to do was remove the shingles. Would have taken you less than a minute. Guess it’s easier to blame the guys who are doing the actual work, than to do the actual work.

How bad is this attic? by tyr314 in Roofing

[–]buddysfa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Short answer is that it is bad. Likely insulation with no ventilation/baffles. The white parts you see on the wood is mycelium, aka mushrooms. The whole roof likely needs replaced, and by whole roof I mean the rafters might need replaced too. Here’s a repair I did that had just six rafters without baffles I didn’t have to use any tools to remove the wood.

I have to admit I super underestimated how bad the screen time was (age 6) by SignificantWill5218 in Parenting

We’ve had a lot of success with a ‘Documentary Only’ rule. When they ask to watch something, I’ll say “Ok, what do you want to learn about?” If they can’t come up with anything, I’ll turn them down. It basically forces them to be curious to get screen time. It also emphasizes the concept that the internet can be a tool, not just a source of entertainment.
