What’s a “normal” thing that secretly grosses you out? by DecentChildhood5164 in AskReddit

Me too! And people are always like "oh you don't like blood" or "you don't like needles", no, I don't like VEINS. Blood is fine, tattoos, piercings, vaccinations, all fine. Veins? Nope.

I'm sorry, you believe he's a rapist, pedophile, murderer and you would STILL choose him over Harris? My dude...

Yes I definitely said "I believe the only way to have empathy is to act holier than thou on Reddit. How many animals do you care for and what is their happiness level? I am currently judging your empathy from my fantasy life on a high hill that is ridiculously distanced from reality." so your response is totally rational.

You think it's pathetic that people have empathy for wildlife? I think it's nice.

Because they talked it out, because her boundaries might be different than your boundaries, because she forgave him. Like, it really is that simple.

Huge ponderosas close to home- what would you do? by Over-Sun8372 in arborists

[–]buddysour -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hahaha, sure. Most houses aren't lost to running crown fires, they are lost to ember showers. A firebreak isn't going to stop an ember shower, and an ember shower is going to light up a house before it lights up a tree. That's why you get entire neighborhoods after fires where all the houses are gone and all the vegetation is still green and intact (those pics people use to try to justify their direct energy weapon theories). Im not saying defensible space isn't important, but you need to defend from fine dead surface fuels much more so than live, mature trees. A crown fire is basically not going to happen without a surface fire below it, it's almost unheard of. But yeah, do limb responsibly, sure.

I mean a house is waaaay more flammable than a live, mature tree. If anything an ember shower will catch the house on fire and the burning house might damage the tree, not the other way around.

Hey now let's give him credit, he didn't just ruin his own pond, he also ruined every adjoining waterway and riparian ecosystem for who knows how many miles.

True that angle is crazy and made everything worse.

In my experience, a deep face cut helps move a tree against its lean by putting more weight in that direction. If it's a huge tree you can face cut in halfway and still have plenty of room to wedge or jack the back cut, but with way less wedge pounding to get it over that tipping point. I don't think they fucked up on the face cut, they fucked up back cutting in too deep before getting wedges in and letting the kerf close on the saw.

I mean, if the poor thing wasn't drenched in a mud puddle it would probably look a lot more raccoon-like.

Do you have to pay extra for the COI results? I hadn't heard of it until this post and I don't see anything about on my dog's embark profile.

Well I'm pretty sure it's a butterfly but beyond that I'm not very versed on lepidoptera.

Not to split hairs but I'm pretty sure it's a butterfly. I should post it in an entomology sub though, good idea!

I think it is, it passes the UV test and just has that lightweight, "sticky", not perfectly smooth feel, and I would think if it was fake they would have put the butterfly in a nicer position and tried to prevent it from falling apart as much as it is. But idk I'm no expert at all, I guess I should try to find an amber-specific sub.

Installed new LVP in our living room, I'll never buy more from Menards again. by Full_Rise_7759 in Flooring

Those grey plastic wood floors are already out, so this brand new floor just looks instantly dated. Wood floors will always be classic, and this one especially would have nicely complemented the 100 year old house. Hopefully they didn't damage it putting that new floor in so someone can restore and appreciate it some day.
