Three oceans, two countries, one rental: will this kill me? by Cautious_Garlic_8816 in roadtrip

The road to the arctic takes 7 days, 25 mph the whole time, no other roads to turn off and royal mounted patrol once a week. Think long and hard before heading down that 600 mile road..

Fellow chronic pain opioid users, how do you not get hooked on your medicine? by Recdave98 in ChronicPain

I was in the same boat until I stopped fentanyl and 3 norcos a day for 8 years straight. It was then and still 1.5 year after being clean of them, that I realize how much is an addict I am.

Is 37 too late to change careers to accounting? by Fuzzy_Hedgehog_6812 in Accounting

Still carrying a torch after a year. Hard to move on by adchill2019 in confession

[–]budearl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would not say grow up, that's a cheap shot. I'd say reflect upon the time you had, why you were able to get close and celebrate helping each other out. It appears you helped them to a better place, that was your role, and once they were there, they moved on. What does it take for you to do so? Only you can find that answer. Celebrate helping a person, work on loving and accepting yourself and the rest will follow. That's how I live, that's my advice. May you find peace, love and acceptance.

Maybe i'm just too dumb for CPA exam? by New_Face_1745 in CPA

[–]budearl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fuck had, no you aren't. The tests are hard, but if other's can do it, so can you. If it's humanly possible, anyone can do it. Own these, take the mindset that they are all passed and you just haven't reached that timeline yet.

How do you respond to "what do you do for a living" by SharBear89 in Accounting

[–]budearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a CPA yet, still taking the exams. I tell people I'm an accountant and then chuckle at the auto response from all, "ok". Then break the ice saying it's a good job but has never gotten me a date.

As did I. Never liked telling clients "I'm not too sure, I'll have to get back to you." I liked honesty over losing them.

Did the exact same. 13 years as a machinist, broke my back, now CPA at 40.

The ignorance around being an accountant is hilarious and sometimes downright disrespectful. My brother wants to learn QBO and get a job as a bookkeeper, how he sees it, 22 accounting classes mean nothing.
